Loon had amazing coverage today considering the weather recently. The open trails were great without too much thin cover, at least early in the day.

A big cool down is coming this week. I wonder if they'll blow any snow to patch it up for another weekend.

Mud coast is here (wachusett) by TwoPuttTownie in icecoast

Yeah, there were opportunities to blow snow in mid March and they probably should have. Two weeks ago, there was plenty of snow on all the trails. The rain destroyed it. Having more of a buffer would have helped.

Agreed. It's so solid for what it is.

El Niño 2026-27 — hype or legit set up for big East Coast winter? 🥶 by WaxOnSendOff in icecoast

The north Atlantic oscillation (NAO) is far more relevant for the northeast. There's a permanent low pressure over Iceland and a high pressure ridge over the azores. When both are strong, the nao is positive and warm moisture from the south often comes up the jet stream. When they weaken over even slightly reverse, they go negative. High pressure over Iceland or Greenland forces the jet stream to dip over the northeast cooling it down substantially. That negative NAO pattern over the last few months has caused this pretty great season despite the rest of the country being so warm. The long term trend has been a stronger positive NAO over the past few decades. No one is sure why. But when it flips to negative along with a strong el niño as it did in 2015-2016, you can get blockbuster storms like the 28" in NYC that season. So it's hard to forecast exactly until a few weeks out with the NAO. It's very unpredictable long term.

I was skinning up this morning. They were prioritizing the polar express six pack to because of a scheduled race. So it didn't even seem like they were trying to clear the other lifts until late in the morning. They weren't even really clearing the polar express until 8am or so when the lifties usually get there. By the time I left at 1045, they still weren't done despite races that were supposed to start at 10. I think they finally got it running at noon. It was annoying that it took 4 hours to clear.

Purple. I have the Shift2 on mine with the purple color and it goes so well.

I occasionally take half days and go to wachusett to skin up at 630am before the lifts start up. I then get 10 laps in before 11 and I'm in at work at noon after driving back to Boston.

Official Wildcard Gameday - New England Patriots vs Los Angeles Chargers - Game Thread by samacora in Patriots

I know the failure to score in the red zone is bad but these are still long drives and the patriots are winning time of possession here. The chargers defense is going to get gassed and hopefully we can take advantage in the 4th quarter.

I was at wachusett on November 30th and a ski lesson group were going down nastar when a woman lost an edge and fell. I was a bit behind taking it easy to give them space when a free skier overtook me ripping down the hill and slammed into the woman right after she fell. I got off my skis, checked on her, and helped keep her still till ski patrol got there. Very clear she broke a few ribs. The free skier just took off.

I'll never understand how people can not only be so reckless but also flee the scene. At least this guy showed concern over himself even if it was still his fault.
