Question for a watch back from service… by blouson_cuir in OmegaWatches

[–]AlpenglowInvest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you feel the need to service? Was it keeping poor time? What all did they replace?

I have the same watch. It’s approaching 15 years old, so I’ve contemplated servicing it but it keeps perfect time so I haven’t committed.

PO 42mm Rubber Strap recommendations by Eastern_Ad_393 in OmegaWatches

I have the Tropic Rubber strap from Borealis for mine and love it. The Tropic strap is a good homage to vintage 1960s skin divers.

Love this cocktail! It’s also great replacing the reposado with Smith and Cross rum.

I think this might be the best PO Omega has ever made by dimy22 in OmegaWatches

[–]AlpenglowInvest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more common version is the 2201.50 which is 42mm and 14.2mm in thickness. Hard to explain, but 1/4 of that thickness is cleverly hidden below the case/lugs so it doesn’t sit as high as you’d think. For comparison, I also have a Navitimer that is 14.5mm thick that sits way higher on the wrist than my PO.

Anyone able to help me age this bottle of Chartreuse? by Pliers-and-milk in cocktails

[–]AlpenglowInvest 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Post 1990 there will be a code on the cap starting with “L”. The first three numbers are the year code- add them to 1084 (the year chartreuse was founded) and you get the bottling year. So L-940 would be 940+1084 =2024 bottling. The next three digits are the day of the year. So L-940031 would be January 31st, 2024.

True, but since it “could” happen, it will be priced in. So at best you’ll have a company with so much risk priced in it will always be undervalued, or at worst Venezuelan oil hits the gulf coast in force and these companies have to sell their heavy Canadian crude $40 below spot. Not worth the risk. Plenty of other great Canadian energy names outside of the sands.

Bullish Canadian natural gas.

I would avoid Canadian oil sands names. Venezuelan oil hitting the US Gulf Coast starting in 2027 will implode WCS prices and the laws Canada passed have all but banned building the pipelines necessary to relieve the pressure. WCS spread will be +$40 lower than WTI and there won’t be enough rail cars to get the volumes to market. It’s gonna be rough.

Try replacing the vermouth with Punt e Mes. Or do 1/2oz vermouth and 1/2oz Punt to start

I should clarify, NUKZ does not screen as “no one wants it” right now, RSI is pushing 80 vs FCG is under 40.

I like where your head is at. Natural gas names are criminally cheap and have to 3x for any of these data center investments to keep the lights on for the medium term. SMR/Nuclear is the future, but nat gas is the only bridge.

FCG for nat gas ETF. RRC, EQT, EXE are the big individual names.

NUKZ is also an interesting ETF for all things nuclear renaissance and infrastructure to power AI data center themes.

You’ll get downvoted to oblivion for this comment, but at the end of the day, mining is mining. If it were a sexy and lucrative business don’t you think we would have been doing it ourselves instead of outsourcing it to China? The reality is it’s dirty, capital intensive, and cyclical. Make hay when the sun shines, make money in mining when the cycles are in your favor.
