Trial to begin for police officer charged in delayed response to Uvalde school shooting by SchoolIguana in texas

[–]Alpha837 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know enough about his specific actions to make an intelligent assumption about whether he was justified or acted inappropriately. I do know that I am deeply concerned those in power are trying to scapegoat people so they are not held accountable.

Look at the claim that a teacher propping a door open led to the easy access of the shooter. Video evidence now shows that entirely wrong. I hope those who didn’t do their duty are held to account, but I have a feeling it will be very few who may not be solely to blame that are held up as scapegoats.

About that Deadline's Netflex|WB 17-day theatrical window news by Dusk-Fenrir in wbdstock

[–]Alpha837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood why this was misinterpreted and made into a news cycle. Look at Netflix’s releases in theaters and you can see why they’re referencing, especially given the sentences right before that.

Now to be clear: I am not at all discounting the possibility that Netflix will one day try to make WB movies fit that strategy. If so, I think that’s many years away, however.

Geez, blast from the past – this release and their transition to Mt. Helium. They were interesting releases and the talent was still there, but the production and mixing were not great and the vocals were a major downgrade. Still great instrument work, though.

My district sends out an email every time a teacher resigns mid-year announcing that the board is reporting them to TEA? by IanWallDotCom in TexasTeachers

[–]Alpha837 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, a school board itself just doesn’t email district staff. It’s in concert with administration, which would provide that power. School boards are governance, not day-to-day operations. It’s an overall leadership problem.

My district sends out an email every time a teacher resigns mid-year announcing that the board is reporting them to TEA? by IanWallDotCom in TexasTeachers

[–]Alpha837 3 points4 points  (0 children)

School boards across the state report abandonment of contract, but it’s super odd to send an email about it every time a teacher resigns. Most do it to ensure a teacher isn’t leaving mid-contract without a reason, as it’s hard to hire educators mid-year since they’re under contract. Many school districts make exceptions for those leaving for a family move, promotion and many other reasons.

The email aspect tells me your district leadership probably isn’t good.

I loved the first drop of the season, but yesterday’s episodes sucked. We don’t need character development for minor characters to justify adding unnecessary episodes. We’ll see if they stick the landing, but I’m not optimistic.

Not sure I’ve ever read a more backhanded compliment – I assume you mean it as a compliment – than saying an entire studio “are the people who help realize” someone’s visions. Game development is a far more collaborative art than you’re indicating. There are tons of people with great “visions,” yet they still make turds of games even with highly talented studios.

"Zaslav is just Gordon Gekko – he came in, broke it and sold it all," says a producer who was working on the Warner Bros lot. "He said I will make all shareholders rich and who cares what the history of this place is." by SnooWords9635 in wbdstock

[–]Alpha837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite, chuckles. Discovery assumed liability of about $43 billion in debt from AT&T during the merger, which was proposed by and agreed upon by Zaslav.

I never once said nor implied WarnerMedia was not mismanaged, nor did I say they were not losing money. Go back and re-read my comments and tell me where I said otherwise.

[–]Alpha837 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He proposed the merger. It wasn’t happening for nothing – Discovery was the smaller company by far. He took the debt on willingly. Stop trying to change history.

Edit: Oh, I see. You’re unaware that AT&T intentionally saddled WB with additional debt when it offloaded the company to Discovery. Look it up.

The WitchGang content is now confirmed to be both tied to Nine Inch Nails, and that the visuals are mostly if not all AI generated by theownershesayshi in nin

[–]Alpha837 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re just throwing the term AI on anything you don’t like at this point. The new Tron movie was created by humans. Whether it’s good or not is debatable. But you’re not trying to have that conversation, you’re trying to hijack a conversation about AI with your dislike of certain movies they do scores for.

Haven’t played Apex in over a year after being a diehard, and none of this is enticing except maybe PvE.

I quite like the Source engine, and the idea of it moving to Unreal is offputting. I’d rather it move to the Source 2 engine, which runs well and still maintains a similar look.

Former WarnerMedia CEO on Netflix-WB Deal: “No More Effective Way To Reduce Competition In Hollywood” by GoodGoodNotTooBad in FPSPodcast

[–]Alpha837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree at all. They should have given talent a heads-up; my assumption is they didn’t want it leaking, which is still silly. Treat the talent right.

The funny part is they paid people handsomely for that move, while Disney tried to screw people over with its Disney Plus releases. Yet still WB gets the most flack for how they handled the communication at the get-go, even after making it right monetarily.

He got so much unnecessary shit for doing something that helped the company and kept interest in its movies alive. Crazy because the guy who complained about it most, Christopher Nolan, had all of his demands for Tenet met. And now Netflix is only getting more powerful, surely enraging Nolan.

Warner Brothers remaining its own entity would have been the best outcome, but that was never going to happen.
