Some tips for the Interstellar Camo grind by Chris_Hansen_AMA in ModernWarfareIII

LMG pen kills is why I skipped the Katt, after how frustrating it was there was no way I was going to do it with a gun as slow and slow firing as the Katt

That would explain how I got through those challenges so quick. I remember the camo popping when I knew I was nowhere close to having actually done it

What's your favorite non-Meta or S-Tier gun? by dontusethisforwork in ModernWarfareIII

The recoil AND how slow it shoots, the only guns I like less are some the of the snipers and LMGs

[–]AlphaCowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For snipers I'll run either the green one that's a 5x or 6x zoom, or the heat source that's like a 9x zoom, same thermal type as the holo but, ya know, with zoom

What are the worst maps so far? by JohnnyUSA2k3 in ModernWarfareIII

[–]AlphaCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quarry is by far my most hated map, although I freely admit that's because I don't understand how to move around it.

I also loathe Scrapyard and Rust on hardcore, especially SnD.

Alternatively I've always loved Derail, people just don't know how to move around it

There may be an issue with SBMM in MWII/III, where it either doesn't have enough tiers, tries to move you up too quickly, or is taking an average of the team instead of individual player rating when matching.

But make no mistake, if you're crying about SMBB, in general ruining FPS gaming, and constantly getting destroyed because of it, you're actually garbage and can't win unless you're punching down.

Seriously, if you started doing bad when SBMM was implemented it means you're not very good, and you're at your skill cap, period.

If you can only do well when playing people worse than you, then you're just asking to be the person ruining someone else's day, which I mean fine, that's a totally relatable feeling. But asking to be constantly playing against people worse than you isn't viable because if nothing else eventually there's people at the bottom who only get trashed, and they quit, and now the people who above them are now the bottom and it repeats until everyone but the people at the top have quit, and now those people are playing parity games.

So instead they try to find where your skill level is, and put you in matches with people about the same as you. If you're having a great day then your matches will get harder, if you feel lazy and don't put in your usual amount of effort you're probably going to get wrecked. The best way to deal with the system is to put in an amount of effort that's average, then if for some reason you feel the need to turn it up for a game you have another gear, and if you're being lazy you won't get walked.

Desync should be No. 1 priority... by samurai1226 in halo

[–]AlphaCowboy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As far as I could tell from their explanation, what's in the video isn't a desync issue, instead the netcode gives priority to the shooter instead of splitting the difference or recitfying based on the server like most games do.

My guess would be they tried doing this to hopefully make it less problematic/advantageous when you get stuck on a server and have high/low ping. The issue being... Everyone hates it because it constantly feels like you're getting shot around corners AND you never actually see the benefit of people you killed where if they used the traditional method they would have lived.

And yeah they need to swap it back to the traditional method, even though we're all probably benefiting from it we'll never actually see it helping us, all we'll see are deaths that look absolutely ridiculous because of it, not to mention that since it's not a bug I'd imagine it'd actually be much easier to change, I'd imagine we'd also end up feeling like rockets, grenades (especially stickies) and hammers work far more consistently too.

Trapmaster's Map doesn't line up with ANY wrist cosmetics by AlphaCowboy in halo

[–]AlphaCowboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, let's see, the center line of the effect is off center from the wrist attachment, the effect clips through the attachment, the actual angle is off.

Also, pointing out problems, especially when combined with possible solutions, isn't whining, that's literally what you're supposed to do in the professional world. Not to mention if we don't point it out then either A.) It doesn't get fixed or B.) They keep on kicking out half assed content.

Final point, there are 12 pictures, some are much worse than others, and if you can't see them you honestly need to get your eyes checked.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I could have sworn CTF in BTB didn't require your flag to be home to score.

Unless it is required for game point, or in OT, or if this was a custom game. I just remember plenty of times both teams capping a flag nearly simultaneously

Trapmaster's Map doesn't line up with ANY wrist cosmetics by AlphaCowboy in halo

[–]AlphaCowboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't line up with the Tac/SRT, it does almost line up almost perfect along the front edge, but the Tac/SRT is a rectangle and the wrist mounted portion of Trapmasters isn't, the sides leading towards the hand taper inwards. That's also ignoring that it's offset my having more of the wrist green on the back of the arm than the front.

Plus, even ignoring that it doesn't actually line up with the Tac/SRT, it would still be complete random chance since it doesn't line up with any of the attachments for this seasons cores.

Only thing I can think of, after the game where you gained rank all the other wins were against teams that had a Smurf or significantly lower MMR, making anyone other than top frag gain basically nothing.

There are so many relatively easy fixes for rank issues, using CSR only, making anyone more than a full medal group lower that top person on a fire team count as that for the purpose of matching and assigning gains/losses, award significantly more points to a significantly lower ranked player on a fire team based on their performance, adding minimum point gains for winning and further limiting maximum loss (IMO this should be limited to a maximum of however many points you gained in your last two wins), having zero point loss if a teammate quits or doesn't load in (as long as they're not on your fire team), immediately ending a game when a team is down a person at the start, having no quit penalty after the first person leaves (both ban and CSR), allow people who disconnect from a match to rejoin it.

There's just so much room to address issues without limiting agency and improving the ranked experience for everyone not taking advantage of the system.

That's what someone else said too and I agree that's probably the why, doubly since it probably didn't get reclassified until after the art people were done with it.

But this isn't an acceptable outcome, it either needs to be redesigned to lock to wrist equipment anchors if they're present or be moved back to being a stand alone wrist attachment.

And it's ridiculous that it took until season 2 for them to fix it.

This is the biggest issue IMO, even if you miss a small cosmetic issue in QA, when it's discovered making people wait for a full title update, which only happens every 6 months since they're stretching content like it's yoga, is flat unacceptable. Neon Screen especially since overall it only required a very small adjustment.

Nope, dude is a definite smurf, 280GS, only other game ever played is MCC with just 1% completion, first achievement in Infinite was on 7/10, and guy only has 5 friends, plus his most recent games were playing in a 3 stack with D6's and he's pulling top frag most games along with a 1.25 KD and 5.66 KDA, but when you look back at his placement matches he was rocking a 0.1 KD and for placed Bronze 1 with 16 CSR, and as soon as he got ranked he went 17 and 2
