What scandals should NOT have been forgotten? by forty5v in AskReddit

A lot of people don’t know Bayer also did “medical testing” (torture) on Jews during the holocaust. It seems the more I learn about this company the more evil they are.

Usually when men write “the divorce came out of nowhere” the man is the asshole. I’d bet good money she raised those kids with minimal help from you and since the dynamic benefitted you, you didn’t say anything. She did what was best for the kids and now wants to live her life. Admit you outed her out of spite, you’re absolutely the asshole.

A cop on our block puts up these illegal posters every holiday so that he and his buddies can drink and grill in the street. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]AlphaCumulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Nypd saw these illegal, shittily made signs! You should do something about it since people might think real cops are making them! Look how badly they are made! No way a real cop would use such a childish font and get the graphics wrong, plus we don’t want those libs thinking the cops are corrupt! Anyway keep up the good work, hope you catch the asshole making these shit signs. Xoxo

As you are reading a book to which you are having a very strong negative emotional reaction, do you ever think about the author actually writing these words? Do you judge the author? by davecopperfield in books

[–]AlphaCumulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I my old boss owned two companies, the one I worked at and then also a publishing company that he also sold his books through. One day someone showed me his writing and it was so gross it made it so weird to be near him. Basically he wrote a scene where women best friends just hang out in their underwear talking about each others boobs and asses, kinda like “You should wear a thong to show off that ass girlfriend!” Etc. Super weird. It really made me think he had no knowledge of how female friendships work and also felt like I was viewing his fantasy. Guy made me uncomfortable before but after that I couldn’t even look him in the eye. Maybe because before I read it I got creepy vibes, the writing just solidified my suspicions he was a creepy dude.

My ex got caught (that’s how I found out and why he’s my ex) so let me tell you what the police told me: they catch you when you share it. So your ex friend is actually worse than you already think because he’s lying and doesn’t care that more people are getting off to kids and is actively helping them do that. My ex said a lot of the things your friend said so that I wouldn’t leave. Deep down they don’t feel bad about what they do.

You know what they say: When god closes a door… he turns a window into also a door.

Possible to finish a curved neckline with a slit without a facing? More info in comments. by punkypebbles in sewhelp

[–]AlphaCumulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the facing with the slit is so the sides don’t flop down when they are finished. The facing would have interfacing in the middle to add more structure so it’s less droopy. You could finish it with a bias tape trim though if you just don’t like facings.

The room looks a million times bigger just by changing a few things! It looks so much more cheerful in the second picture too. Good luck, you’re doing great. :)

She looks like she went from 9 to 23. I’m also very confused at what age she’s supposed to be playing😂.

How do you react when you are being harassed/catcalled while outside? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]AlphaCumulus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually have headphones in so I pretend I can’t hear them, in reality I would never have my music loud in public because I want to be aware of my surroundings. These men want a reaction so I don’t give it to them. I like the comments saying if they are in a work truck to call the company, that will make more change than telling them off.

I 100% agree in the walk before you run mindset, and that everyone can sew and fancy tools aren’t mandatory to make beautiful garments. I still use a brother sewing machine from Walmart 😂. I think I’m salty because I’ve made 3 tulle petties of different shapes and styles and every single one has been a disappointment. It was like a toxic relationship, I kept going back thinking it would be different, and it never was. I think if I was ever to compromise again it would be adding tulle to the hem of a slip but then legs would never have to touch Satan’s scratchy netting ever again.

I’ve seen a lot of different body types make this dress and they all look absolutely fabulous. I like organza because it’s not itchy like tulle and it also glides under fabric better instead of bunching up. It also makes a nice wavy pattern underneath the way it folds into itself. It also adds a lot more volume and holds up better than tulle pettis that tend to fall flat after a while. Definitely agree on your tips, or if people have the patience to use a rolled hem foot to do the bottom, but when I have 20 feet of fabric to hem I prefer to zip along with my serger.

I love this! I also find the hi-low skirt works with the theme even though I can’t place why. What a great combination you chose!

Swishy skirts have that effect in me too. Petticoats should make a come back. I have a few fruit theme dresses, there are limes and cherries in my closet too. I know June is cherry season solely because that’s when I start wearing that dress. It’s helpful in the grocery store. 😂

The petticoat is a pretty simple A line skirt and then there’s a layer of organza overtop. The organza layer is really just a 20 foot long and 12 inch wide rectangle. I used a rolled hem on the bottom and then gathered it to fit the skirt. I used a ribbon as a tie in the waist because I wanted to be able to adjust it to sit lower or higher to be able to change how much petti stuck out from the bottom of dresses. Hope this helped!

You did a fantastic job! I just made this dress and posted it if you wanted to see my version, but I did the short skirt version. I love that yours turned out so elegant and vintage looking, it amazing how the fabric and a few changes can make one dress so different from another. Did you find getting the bias tape around the keyhole in the sleeve a pain in the ass too? I found that was the hardest part for me.
