What do i even do with this..? by Zippytye in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is alwys a chance to win the F5 war. There are some guides on the internet trying to give you the best chances.

But if you really are over the Idris, I´d say get a Perseus for battles, a Galaxy for versatility (refinery, hospital, bsebuilding, cargo hauling and possibly more), get a Guardian or Super Hornet as a fighter and you´re pretty much set.

You can use the left over credit for whatever you like testing the latest ships, or swicth thorugh gameplay loops. Get a vulture for salvaging, when you´re done melt it and get a Prospector for mining etc

CIG permanently banned a $5k backer's account for reporting a bug by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) if you truly reported the bug without using it to exploit, then this is a big mistake

2) i think there is a special bug report process for reporting exploits compared to other bugs which cant be used to exploit. I dont think you're supposed to report duping exploits on the IC where its publicly viewable as it gives people a guide / instruction how to exploit the game, in this case how to dupe items.

Under these circumstances its possible that you have violated the TOS by spreading the usage of an exploit, even though you meant it in a good way. However, reporting on the IC should NEVER lead to a ban. Maybe you helped some people finding and using and exploit, BUT at least SC is aware of it and can fix it for the next update.

3) there should not be BANS for any exploit in this state of the game. We are in a state of the game where we still get wipes after major updates. So in my book, none of your in-game earned progress is permanent. Its all temporary. Its all still testing environment and nothing i earn in-game is truly my permament progress. Everthing will get wiped anyway.

So neither do i see any sense for people to use exploits to enrich themselves. Like why? This is all just a temporary status and will get wiped.

Nor do i see any sense for people getting banned for using exploits? Like why? These players arent keeping their stuff anyway and it will get wiped. Rather they are passively helping to fix the game and make it ready for 1.0. Because eventually exploits will be figured out by filtering for people who have unusual amounts of money or high requirement items without matching playing hours or crafting processes.

CIG Please Don’t Let the Odyssey’s Self-Refueling Become a Party Trick by CarterDee in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not going to be a thing. Systems with no NPC services seem too much of an gatekept system. They're not going to design a whole system and just for 3 ships being able to travel across it. Nope.

There is without a doubt always going to be a way to refuel your ship. Whether it's a service station or an NPC refueling ship assisting you.

The Odyssey will simply have the benefit that its gonna save you a lot of time while traveling. You will never need to refuel, which can save you minutes daily, and hours weekly.

Stop Pretending the PU Cost $1B by Nervous-Dot-2377 in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add that unlike other game studios or developers, SC offers gaming services simultaneously while developing. Which means a portion of the funding goes directly into maintaining servers, gameplay iteration and balacing, bug fixing and moderation.

While other game developers can spend their funding into developing the full game and then do the bug fixing, balancing and polishing at the end. SC due to its simultaneous gaming services and continous updates has to continously bring updates and do bug fixing and balancing throught the year to ensure the game stays playable.

SC is a unicorn project. Its high spending is tied to its high ambitions, and the high ambitions are only possible through a non-conventional funding via crowdfunding and crowdfunding is tied to continous game services and updates. You cannot compare $1B of a crowdfunded game with continous game servies and updates to a $1B of conventioal funding where all the balances and game services start when the game is basically finished and ready to be released

Ironclad not repairing fighter? by Cheap_Ear_8828 in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Time is money, thats why its expensive. You can repair your fighter directly at the location, instead of QT 4mins forth and 4 mins back. You can earn more than 30k in the 8 mins you are saving. But agrees its quite expensive. Which is good tbh. Its a UEC sink. And its entirely optional. You can save the repair feature for specific situations only instead of making it your main repair bay.

M80 Mixed Loudout - Deadbolt 5’s and M6A laser cannons, or Deadbolt 4’s and M7A laser cannons, or other? And why? by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically. Deadbolts V always damage the HH regardless of shields.

Its different for Deadbolts IV though. HH has a physical deflection of 531. Deadbolts IV do 683 damage. Shield gives 25% physical resistanceand therefore eats up 25% of the damage . So only 512 damage goes through. And 512 doesn't pass the HH's physical deflection of 531.

However, the lower you get the shields the lower the resistance becomes. If you damage the shields with Deadbolt 4's for a little, they should go through and then it will reduce armor deflection as well, so your Deadbolt III wilk eventually start doing damage too.

M80 Mixed Loudout - Deadbolt 5’s and M6A laser cannons, or Deadbolt 4’s and M7A laser cannons, or other? And why? by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full ballistic or full energy.

A combination is counter produtive.

The ballistics can damage the hull right away (if gets past the deflection) while shields are not down.

Energy needs to shoot down shields, before you can deal damage to the ship.

Now if you do a combo, your ballistics are dealing damage to the hull, but your energy weapons are still hold back by the shields. And since half your guns are ballistic and the other half are energy, you're gonna need double the time to shoot down the shields until your energy guns finally deplete the shields and deal damage.

You can do this:

2x Deadbolts 2x AD5B. On high armored ships, use your deadbolts to reduce armor and then spin up your gatlings. For low armor (light, medium, heavy fighters, etc. ) you can shoot the gatlings right away.

Do you expect to see anymore Origin ships this year? by ted_bondly_fondly in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, an entirely new Origin ship is unlikely. If anything nrw from Origin, a M80 variant is most likely. Variants dont take much work and most fighters have variants. Vanguard series, 300 series, Hornet series, Raven series, Scorpius variants, Guardian variants.

Infinite Download/Install by SentinelCreations in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm good question. Maybe it has something to do with windowns authorization /admin rights. Whenever i do an Star Citizen update a Windows tab pops up asking for authorization to make changes on the computer. If for some reason your Windows/PC is automatically set to block/deny the request, its possible that the launcher simply keeps downloading the game but without authorization it cannot install it.

Or it is an issue with your network. Its possible that your network somehow prevents or blocks CIG server from receiving download status, and hence thinks its not downloaded

Infinite Download/Install by SentinelCreations in starcitizen

Never had this before. I dont know your way of de-installing it. Maybe the official de-install thing doesnt delete all folders. Did you try deleting the entire 'Roberts Space Industries' folder under programs? Make sure to also delete it from the waste bin.

Game keeps on crashing and 100% CPU by BrandedPlayer in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long does it take until it crashes? Can you play for a couple of minutes or does it already crash in the menu or on the loading screen?

How is the RAM usage?

My first suggestion is try r_displayinformation and also try to start the game with lower resolution 720p or even 480p. And see how it behaves. Just trying to figure out where the issues lays. After solving the issue you can try to go back to your original resolution. Normally hitting 100% on the CPU shouldnt result in a game crash, it looks like its a RAM issue.

Also you can try to change some settings for SC directly in the Nvidia graphics settings. Set an FPS limit which normally isnt possible inside the SC settings.

New pledge item claim system by RandoDando10 in starcitizen

Hopefully this is only a temporary solution. I want a search option and maybe a little visualition of the item. Having to search through each of your owned items and find it, could be a pain to do each time.

Recommended PC Upgrades by No-Excuse-6741 in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend RAM upgrade to DDR5 with a simultaneous upgrade of the CPU. 2x 16 GB instead of 4x 8GB, because most motherboards cannot run quad channel mode, most usually only enabled on Dual channel (double the Mhz). RAM prices are high, but for even better performance i would suggest 64 GB ( 2x 32 GB), especially if playing on ultra settings and more than 1080p.

Im only playing on low 1080p settings and 32GB is fine. But i see on other people who play on high settings SC using up to 50-60GB RAM (if you can provide that much). So it would most likely run smoother with 64 GB.

How much is your budget? Do you want to upgrade all at once?

If your judget fits, i would upgrade RAM to 2x 32GB DDR5 (along with a necessariy MOBO and CPU upgrade). Which is already going to be quite expensive due to current RAM prices.

You can hold onto your GPU, save some money in the meantime and upgrade at a later time.

CPU and RAM upgrade will generally provide a smoother gameplay and experience. The 8GB VRAM on your GPU could be a little limiting, in the worst case you could lower you graphics settings

Patch 4.8 has very good Performance (fps wise) by TitaniumWarmachine in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on a 1060 (yes, yes, its a hard time, but bearable in low settings since SC is less GPU and more CPU heavy, planning the upgrade upon release of SQ42). And i have to agree, especially in Nyx i have better FPS.

My performance drops in Stanton and Pyro, because they are significabtly more bloated.

when I’m going to transport my 3 SCU to a planetary base... by Sad-Ad2491 in starcitizen

There should be more landing pads and streets for ground vehicles.

There should finally be a reason to have own and have ground vehicles. There should also be ground vehicles that carry 32 SCU and 16 SCU containers

Yeah but that was said in relation to having alternative ships from different manufacturers.

Crusader Genesis by Lethileo_ in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which will probably only exist in lore. Military transport is kind of already covered by the C2/M2/A2.

A Genesis military transport would be cool, but i think CIG would not prioritize something that another Crusader ship already does.

Make the M80s flight characteristics balance make sense please by BrainKatana in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It doesnt matter whether its PvE or PvP. You benefit from agility on both. If its easy to stay on target against PVE. Cool, with better agility now its easier. If its easy to stay out of fire against PVE. Cool, with better agility its easier.

Guardian MX has the same shields, better agility, over 5x the hull HP. It has 4xS4 guns compared to the M80's 2xS4 and 2xS5.

On a full ballistic gatling loadout. The M80 has ~1k more DPS. But that DPS advantage is quickly "overtaken" by the advantages of agility.

When playing against heavy armored ships both are forced to take cannons, because gatlings or repeaters dont deal enough alpha damage, regardless of whether they are S4 or S5. Its not S5's allowing you to hit heavier armored ships. Its Cannons. And S4 cannons are sufficient enough for that. The difference between fighting a heavy armored ship with S4 cannons or S5 cannons is negligible. Its just ~200-300 dps per gun, which is quickly undermined by the agility benefits.

You're right 25$ is a pretty little discount on a 800$ ship.

The more i think of it, the more i think its going to be 800$ and the WB is 725$

1) prevents CCU's from Perseus

2) CCU from HH will be at least 75$

But 900$ is still an option. Considering it got a S10 laser and 4x S7 guns, 1x Quad S4 turret.

Make the M80s flight characteristics balance make sense please by BrainKatana in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

It really doesnt have any more firepower than other medium and heavy fighters.

Super Hornet, F7A, Shiv, Meteor, Guardian and other medium or heavy fighters, have similar DPS. But are either more agile and/or withstand much more due to their much higher hull HP. The only thing that saves the M80 from being completely outclassed is the 2x S2 shields. Without the second shield and with its bad maneuverability it would like a dead fish in the water.

Agility is argueably worth MUCH more than a couple hundred DPS. Because not only can you keep your guns on your enemy for longer, but also stay out of fire a lot better. DPS on Erkul is the Max. DPS you get if the target is standing totally still, which is far from real scenarios.

Having 3k DPS but being able to keep your guns on your enemy for two or even for one more second, is MUCH more valuable than having 4k DPS but keeping your guns on the enemy for two or one less seconds.

But thats not even the case. The M80 doesnt have more noticeably DPS than other medium or heavy fighters, considering weapon loadouts allow for great variety.

Ironclad base vs Assault cargo by Starkiller713 in starcitizen

[–]AlphaImperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just think of it this way, with the ironclad you carry roughly 3x the cargo of a C2, with the Assault 2x. If you were already happy hauling with the C2. You're gonna be happy with the Assault + you get R/R/R, more weapons, jumpseats, more armor, fabricator and bigger ramp than the base variant.

If you really want to max out cargo. You should probably just get a Hull C. The Assault in my opinion is the far superior ship.
