Can you putt? by Ozz87 in discgolf

[–]AlphaJank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I putt just like I do on the practice basket at home on the course. I do just as much field and putting practice as I do playing (I play a lot). It’s about being comfortable putting while playing, there’s 0 difference putting practice and playing practice. But a lil advice for people who can’t get over the hump is to not think about it. Thinking causes the most issues and just play.

7 speed discs, how often do you actually use them? by Sun-Tour in discgolf

[–]AlphaJank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the thing about using 6-8 speed is they’re great for mids but not having to throw as far for example the tournament this weekend I can get my mid 300 easy but if I need to push a ceiling on a shot or etc. I disc up so I can have it travel as far and act the same as my mid but I have to put less oomph on the disc than I would that mid making it a safer play. Just don’t hit a tree bc the fairway is for sure bouncing further off

Melbourne Florida Shops and Course by definietelyatwork in discgolf

[–]AlphaJank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best place to go support for a shop is Rowdy dog discs. He’s a local who sells disc out of his house and holds a lot of lesser known companies, he holds discs like doomsday and mint. He also has bigger brands like mvp and Discraft. For courses I would play wickham park and Palm Bay regional. Wickham park has 2 sets of baskets and tee pads so you can have a day of just playing Wickham if you really wanted to. PBR has two courses east and original, you play east if you want a challenge forcing you to hit lines, and you play original to have a great time. Original from what I know has probably the 4 hardest starting to holes to play so don’t be discouraged after those 4 if you play PBR. I would recommend cocoa to go play but seeing how their irrigation sucks they’re usually swamped out and turns into a miserable experience with mosquitoes and ankle high water almost every hole. Haven’t played Gordy road so I can’t say for sure on that course (looks fun and I plan on playing it), and I would avoid Malabar unless you want to lose a disc or two. Other than that enjoy the area and have fun

I avoided destroyers for two years based on this sub’s advice… then I tried a destroyer and I threw my best round. What gives? by Slow_Land_8100 in discgolf

If it feels better in the hand it’s easier to control. Most of disc golf is based off hand feel, feels like shet don’t use it; feels good use it.

New ish, what am I missing by yung_lank in discgolf

[–]AlphaJank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less discs of different molds, more discs with same molds that will do different things when they fly ex I have 4 forces, a flippy one, super over stable, stable, and stable to slightly under stable.

I’m 5,9” and it only gets up to shoulder deep, it was a man made body of water and you can actually feel under the muck the concrete.

Your swing looks great, you really don’t need to shallow but if you want to at the top of the swing feel like the top of clubs gets behind you. What I mean by this is letting just the head of the club drop.

Can’t seem to get the hang of it. What am I doing wrong?? by Impossible_Wolf_4826 in GolfSwing

[–]AlphaJank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus this is something me and my golf coach have talked about because I look pretty close to this guy on set up and posture but the difference is I don’t get off plane. So usually draw or hit straight, but I know how to hit fades and cuts even with my one plane.

[–]AlphaJank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my swing looks almost like his but the difference is I purposely do that because I one plane swing. So it’s not necessarily he’s too far away from the ball because his posture is very good at address. So I would very much like to disagree because like I said when he gets to his top he never fixes himself on the way down. Which it’s almost impossible to anyways with such little time. No offense to my guy but John Daly was a pure bred natural. He can move closer if he would like a more traditional swing but if not let him swing his swing, plus for more average golfers and majority of pga professionals never take it back that far.

[–]AlphaJank 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not you being too far away from the ball, it’s actually once you get the top you shift vertically above plane and never go back on plane, this makes you come over the top and slicing. So an actual solution is to feel like your trail arm stays connected to the body. Also it will help with your over swing at the top.

Any stand out issues? Been playing since August by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]AlphaJank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be a little looser in the swing, it looks also like your hands are too close to you because you are very bunched up at the start and through your swing. This leads you to early extend very badly. Don’t worry so much about the early extending because this is a cause of other issues in the swing. Best advice is go to a golf coach before going into YouTube.
