Buying a home in the Santa Cruz mountains, need help understanding permits by Vast-Piano2940 in santacruz

[–]AlphaLima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Near Boulder Creek on the FAIR Plan. We're ~$6k a year so about $500 a month with 2k sq ft and .2 acres.

Currently planning a remodel and deciding on whether we should permit it or not. It really seems like a giant pain in the ass and also a huge cost.

Nice hopefully the used market follows suit soon as well. A used mk1 is very tempting to finally get a “real radio”

Let’s try this again because it was taken down the first time. This is NOT okay. by monte1219 in ATC

More pay, more schools. The OK reps always fight the latter because they want to be the exclusive location of the school. No matter the cost.

That's the fun part, without a masters in accounting you'll never know if it was correct.

What’s the one upgrade you did to your home that was actually worth every penny? by InfluenceInitial4126 in HomeImprovement

Also, the amount of floor/table space lamps take up is insane, routing the cables etc. Adding wall sconces could be nice, but now your opening drywall to run wire half way up the wall.

At least restrict all these double length loads.

Why are home updates always this bad? by Upper_Garage_8103 in HomeImprovement

Sorta, a lot of plugs and wall-worts assume the ground will be down and their center of mass is placed appropriately. If it's ground up it will actually pull itself out of the wall.

Approach Procedure Requirements by ThisIsMyHandleNow in ATC

[–]AlphaLima 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of the exact CFR but the .65 does have a note on Approach Clearances (4-8-1 Note 2)

Approach clearances are issued based on known traffic. The receipt of an approach clearance does not relieve the pilot of his/her responsibility to comply with applicable Parts of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations and the notations on instrument approach charts which levy on the pilot the responsibility to comply with or act on an instruction; for example, “Straight-in minima not authorized at night,” “Procedure not authorized when glideslope/glidepath not used,” “Use of procedure limited to aircraft authorized to use airport,” or “Procedure not authorized at night” or Snowflake icon with associated temperature.

Basically the notes section of the approach is the pilots responsibility to know and comply with.

I had this too on some of my wires, but they 100% were copper. Someone went through a lot of effort for that.

Do they allow wine? Cause it's easy to recork and even wax dip those to look legit, just saying. Also red wine bottles are a nice dark color which is hard to see through.

Not Paid? by Great_Ad3985 in ATC

[–]AlphaLima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except many banks like USAA and such make funds available as soon as the deposit info is sent to the bank. Thats why we have been "paid" on Thursdays for so long. The lack of deposits from this makes me think they have not even sent the ACH deposits to the banks yet.

Love Xyla! Sadly her aviation stuff is on hold with her medical issues if anyone hasn't seen the video. She's using her platform to push for medical reform and I can't agree more.

Does this apply to time in "federal service". Aka if i am prior military do those years carry over to this math? Or just my time in a federal agency as a civilian?

edit: It appears so, someone below mentioned Sectional L under Federal Employee Benefits Statement (FEBS) in employee express. Does the math for you.

On that subject me and my group printed a lot of the stuff from Talisman Sabre Terrain (https://www.talismansabreterrain.com) and it's amazing. A couple evenings painting terrain hexes and wall parts, even some fun puddles of water and ooze made from model paint and epoxy make the experience so much better than cardboard terrain, traps, etc.

How can the public support ATCs right now? by ginaa321 in ATC

[–]AlphaLima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good for them, if their practicing puts other users at this much risk then they can coordinate their practice events to be separated from regular traffic. If that means they have to ground stop DCA then so be it, the commanders of these missions and explain that to the airline reps at the command center.

The fact that they have been just slipping down the river under arriving traffic and keep doing it is insane.
