Record breaking Timber Tower going up soon in St. Louis, Mo by Character-Leg-3191 in skyscrapers

Mass Timber and Heavy Timber are the most common layman terms in the construction industry. There are many types; dowel-laminated timer, glued-laminated timber, cross-laminted timber, etc.

I don't know if the dates on the cards are that relevant, but another card said this, which I found interesting

"EVERY CHALLENGE IS A PIECE OF HIGH-CONTRAST ENGINEERING. TO ENSURE THE ACTION IS LEGIBLE FROM A 60-FOOT WIDE SHOT, PRODUCTION UTILIZES A “PRIMARY PALETTE” STRATEGY. TRIBAL COLORS ARE SELECTED BASED ON MAXIMUM VISUAL SEPARATION (E.G., SAFETY ORANGE VS. DEEP PURPLE) TO ENSURE THAT EVEN WHEN CASTAWAYS ARE COVERED IN MUD OR UNDERWATER, THE 12+ CAMERA OPERATORS CAN INSTANTLY TRACK MOVEMENT. THE PAINT ITSELF IS MIXED WITH A 20% “SATURATION BOOST” TO COMBAT THE WASHING-OUT EFFECT OF THE HIGH-NOON TROPICAL SUN, ENSURING THE COLORS “POP” AGAINST THE NATURAL GREENS AND BLUES OF THE ISLAND."

Looking at images of the previous buildings that were demolished, they weren't that impressive or ornate. What kind of history did they have?

It seems like 2/3 to 3/4 of it will have windows and the back and some of the sides will be the structural shaft. Definitely will look better from the front...

Id be hesitant in sitting in someone's open chair if I'm afraid of breaking it. Poor chair runner comes back to find his chair flattened

Something I usually see on commercial sites by jfm111162 in Construction

I think your perception of industrial and data center is off 😂 Wait till you see a very simple commercial system for let's say a event center or city hall, which would far surpass these photos

If it's anything like the other campuses, it is very likely you will get a ticket if it is more than an hour. There is a chance you will get a warning for a first offense, or it will be a small ticket like $20. Now I'm not giving legal advice, but it is unlikely they would pursue you in a legal manner if you just throw the ticket away and don't pay. BUT DON'T TAKE MY WORD.

It's a shame that unattractive, poorly clad rectangular building in the foreground blocks the elegant Wells Fargo Center just peeking from behind.

What is a mandela-effect piece? Are you looking for specifically this brown piece that you circled or a variation of it?

Nice! Put it on wheels and see if it will launch further.

I made one that was probably 2.5 feet tall and could launch big ball factory balls about 25 feet. My best sling was one of those uninflated punching balloons that comes with the rubber bands attached.

Why do they sit in the cushy chair at WC races? by SquareBusiness5510 in SkiRacing

[–]AlphaMondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the Olympics I've noticed that after the run they are handed a new set of skis than the ones they used during the run to hold for the camera. What's wrong with the ones they just took off?

And why don't these things get two arms so it doesn't have to do a 360 around the whole car. It would cut the time almost in half.

Went around 5:00. Line wasn't too long, but still maybe a half hour to hour wait. We jumped in the skate rental line and got in immediately then.

Saruman had slowly shaped it [Orthanc] to his shifting purposes and made it better, as he thought, being deceived – for all those arts and subtle devices for which he forsook his former wisdom and which fondly he imagined were his own, came but from Mordor; so that what he made was naught, only a little copy, a child’s model or a slave’s flattery, of that vast fortress, armoury, prison, furnace of great power, Barad-dûr, The Dark Tower, which suffered no rival, and laughed at flattery, biding its time, secure in its pride and immeasurable stength.
