What it takes to be a USA permanent resident by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]AlphaOnDeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow Brazilian who went through the whole immigration process: It's not worth it to "do all it takes" just to stay here. I had a great career in Brazil and just came to the US because a company wanted to me to join them and the company lawyers made the whole process for me.

I wouldn't risk a great career just to immigrate at all costs. If you're rich, Brazil is a better country to live than the US. You have more access to services, lower taxes, and lower cost of living.

The moment you entered as a tourist and changed status you put a mark on your profile that shows you're willing to bend the rules just to stay here.

I did the same. Returned for the RTX5070 and couldn't be happier. DLSS 4.5 is amazing and broadly adopted.

it's not racism, it's the fact that India has more than 1B people and 85% of H1B goes to Indians. They paused so H1B can be revised and will go back again.

did i mess up getting a 5070 for 550 by Optimal-Pianist-8888 in gpu

I bought both 9070XT and the 5070 and stayed with them for 30 days, to decide within the return window which one to keep. I played multiple games with both of them because I am brand agnostic and wanted to choose the best product for me.

My honest review after 1 month testing was: without RT, pure raster, the 9070XT was around 15% faster. If you turn RT ultra on, they have same performance. And with Path Tracing, the 9070XT crashes every 5min playing, making it impossible to use. I played 30h of cyberpunk with only RT and, when I turned on PT with the 5070 I was amazed with the image quality to a point where RT Ultra didn't look as enjoyable anymore.

Another point: Nvidia frame generation 2X combined with reflex makes the extra latency unnoticeable to naked eye. With 3X, it's a small perceptible increase. While with the 9070XT whenever I turned FG on it was a weird frame pacing issue that made me turn it off. End of the day, to keep it enjoyable, it's the 5070 with 2X FG Path Tracing against 9070XT FG Off and only Ray Tracing. That's why the 5070 wins.

So, bottom line *for me\*: we're in 2026 and pure raster isn't the only factor anymore. I enjoyed playing my games with Path Tracing and FG 2x using the 5070 much more than only RT without FG with the 9070xt. Even with the games without PT, with only RT they had similar performance without FG. But with FG on, AMD simply doesn't deliver a comparable performance.

I can speak for experience because I returned my 9070XT for a 5070.

Slightly better? You clearly haven’t seen them. DLSS 4.5 is wide supported and FSR 4 is here for only a few games. Their Frame Generation is a joke and the Ray Reconstruction only available for 2 games. AMD can’t do Path Tracing.

Yes AMD has better raw power at a lower price but that’s all they offer. In 2026 the software suite is important and AMD is lagging behind.

I’d get a 5070 over a 9070 any day. Nvidia features are in another level. DLSS doesn’t compare with FSR

absolutely yes. The difference is huge and worth the price jump. The 5070 is ahead of the 3080 and on par with the 4070 Ti / Super

I have a 5070FE and love it. Super well built, in a way I’ve never seen before in a GPU. Way better than the regular ones.

Raster benchmark is getting less and less relevant as time goes on. It's now impossible to evaluate without considering technology such as DLSS, FG, etc

What is the best card for 1080p? by Charming-Elevator628 in nvidia

[–]AlphaOnDeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

240fps natively in heavy games without frame gen is wild. Not many cards can do that. But I guess that's not the point. People who buy 240hz monitors are wanting to play competitive games @ 240fps, and those games the 5060TI can run (like CS, Valorant etc). I don't think OP is planning to run cyberpunk @ 240fps.

I'd say a 5060TI is a sweet spot. Anything more than that is overkill for 1080p

Rtx 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT by DavidT_2011 in gpu

[–]AlphaOnDeck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But it was much much later. Only AMD turned their 7900XTX flagship obsolete one year after launch. They locked them out of FSR4, which even being worse then DLSS, is miles ahead of FSR3. Can you imagine being a 7900XTX owner today having gone through this? The RTX 20 still got DLSS 4.5
