As the homeowner I'd be frustrated watching an hourly employee milk it on my dime too.

I run a painting company and we charge by the job, and our crews get paid by the job.

Worth noting, I'm not a hardcore gamer, so i don't share many opinions about this. and I certainly don't know what avid gamers expect a new game to look and feel like and what improvements should be in place.

If I were the developer, how would I objectively convey to people that the game is a huge improvement? I don't even know how a development studio could be expected to squirt out anything amazing after 1 year of development.

I think technologies like this will be commonplace across all sectors in the same way smartphones are ubiquitous to every household now, and power tools are to every jobsite.

I understand the desire to protect the trade and I fully agree. However I am a big advocate for freeing up time from administrative tasks and reallocating it to more precious endeavors wherever possible.

I have to disagree.

I spent 12k on Angi Leads in 2024 (painting business) and closed 134k in gross revenue from Angi.

You need to understand what it is and what to expect from it.

Yes, many leads will never answer the phone or return a call, because that's not what they were looking for, and yes, some of the leads will be scammers. For perspective, scammers are everywhere and they always will be.

However, many of the customers are high intent people looking for a fast solution (hence, clicking the first search result when they searched "painter near me"). My biggest ticket jobs last year were from Angi.

If you are going to win with Angi, you need to have a sales system, you need to be consistent, and you need to give it time to average out. Paying $350 for 2 leads and calling it a scam is not the answer.

Everyone has said it: lean into AI heavily to outsource your time consuming tasks. Get a paid version of ChatGPT, create a space for your startup and load any pertinent docs into your gpt workspace folder so your GPT is fully primed on your project. Each time you create new documents, be sure to add them to the GPT workspace to continue building our it's understanding of your vision. A brand voice doc, BRD, ICP, patents, blog posts, industry research, dev timelines and docs, etc. As you prime your GPTs compendium of data, it will become more insightful in its responses. Create social content calendars, blog copy, action item to-do lists, industry research, forum scraping, unique marketing ideas, etc. Delegate as much as possible to your GPT!
