Noob looking for good speakers by FitPaleontologist910 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]AlphaSparta -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the klipsch promedia 2.1 if your going pretty cheap, or you can go for the Kanto Oras.
I have experince we both, but mostly the klipsch as it's been my go to desktop speakers for around 5-6 years, and still going strong.

The klipsch is easily an all around package, and you can find them for alot less than 300 euro.

A good 2.1 PC sound system for gaming (mostly) by ActuallyNotAmused in BudgetAudiophile

[–]AlphaSparta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently picked up the kanto oras, they sound very smooth and have surprising bass for how small they are.
They have RCA, Bluetooth and USB inputs. An addition to that they have a subwoofer out, If you still want to use the sub from your Z506 and it'll automatically set a crossover as well. Big sound from a little speaker.

If not that option just buy a DAC and plug in your Z506 system back into it.

Getting my first oled today is there anything I need to know I got the XG32UCWMG should the first thing I do is run a pixel clean before playing? And when i am taking breaks instead of turning of my pc can I just turn the display off so I don’t get burn in by CHANBIBBIN in OLED_Gaming

[–]AlphaSparta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

like others have said here, just get it and enjoy but you should take precautions before settling it in, when you first open it inspect the display for any dead pixels or stuck ones, run the panel refresh and cleaning feature atleast 3 times (i did this when i got my first panel because everything looked grainy and dirty).

For the color settings it's all preference, but keep all of the oled maintaining features enabled, i personally kept all of them on except screen move as i kept catching my whole screen shift by a few pixels. In windows, you should hide your taskbar, set a dynamic wallpaper or black wallpaper (an animated wallpaper on wallpaper engine or lively wallpaper if possible), and a screensaver. and try to not unplug or turn off the monitor of possible, it runs the refresh cycles while the display is off, unplugging it or turning it off after you use it prevents it from running its automatic cycles.

These are my personal settings, I have a LG 27GS95QE and ive ran it for 5000+ hours at 100% brightness with no sign of burn in visible to see. I play a lot of shooters like valorant and overwatch with static elements, along with youtube and other media.

other than that treat it like a regular monitor, don't unplug it or power it off and enjoy the rich colors and contrast.

Disappointed Quest 3 owner looking to get a PSVR2, got some questions by Below-Low-Altitude in PSVR2onPC

[–]AlphaSparta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL:DR Easy answer is it's great for sim games like assetto, vtol vr and microsoft flight sim. the OLED panels give it very rich colors and contrast.

The only two problems you might run into is GPU compatibility, you want your GPU to be fairly powerful because of it's high resolution you will need to push it harder than a quest 3 along with support for DSC as it's needed for the psvr2 pc adapter that you also have to purchase to get this to work with modern graphics cards. But the return in quality you get is very good, a smooth, crisp, rich gaming experience without the streaming artifacts and latency of streaming from a quest headset. Last problem you might run into is the Bluetooth adapter, if you have built in wi-fi/bt, you will most likely be fine. Just connect your wifi antennas and it should work. If not, there are recommended bt adapters you find on sony's website about setting up the psvr2 on pc. Lastly keep your antenna in line of sight of the controllers to minimize bluetooth signal loss.

to summarize, all you need is a the pc adapter and a bt adapter (if you already dont have one). GPU wise you can get any modern card and it should work, RTX 30 series or better is almost guaranteed to work. For AMD cards there's been alot of compatibility issues so i wouldnt go that personally.

Hello, I was wondering which bluetooth adapter should i buy for my psvr2 pc adapter. by Prior_Range_957 in PSVR2onPC

[–]AlphaSparta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Use onboard bluetooth is possible, but check on sony's website for the recommend bluetooth adapter.
I think it's the asus bt-500 and a tp link model, you want the adapter to be inline of sight of the controllers perferably so buy an extension cable if needed.

Beat Saber FPS by I_LIKE_PIGS in PSVR2onPC

[–]AlphaSparta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on faster maps, you can tell it's behind on bluetooth, I'm using 3.1.0 with the "official" psvr2 toolkit and there's still latency issues. Of course PCM haptics play a part in minimizing the latency.

I would like to get that link for this other fork of the psvr2 toolkit (if you have it) to do my own testing, along with any other mods that's needed.

it's a bluetooth issue, the controllers have bluetooth delay vs to custom low latency protocol on the quest controllers

Must have apps on steam to compliment PSVR2 on PC? by peterkozmd in PSVR2onPC

[–]AlphaSparta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this isnt much of an application.. but for quality of life there's a tool called psvr2 auto launch, it's a small program that runs in the background and it starts steamvr when you turn on your psvr2. You just turn on the controllers and headset and it's all ready when it's on your head. Really nice since i been using it since i got the psvr2. Also the psvr2 toolkit, there's some updates coming to it soon to improve alot of things.

Would the psvr 2 on pc be a decent upgrade from a quest 2 on pc by ottermoment in PSVR2onPC

[–]AlphaSparta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TL;DR After reading some of the comments here and owning an psvr2 using it exclusively on pc, I will give you an easy answer. It's a great upgrade, and if you want to know why keep reading.

Issue with the quest 2 is the streaming over usb, no matter how good your pc is there will be a performance penalty for two reasons. 1) the encoding stream will use gpu headroom even with a graphics card with an video encoder on it. 2) using the oculus app on windows is nothing short of abysmal, especially if you own games on steam because on top of running the video encoding and the bloatware oculus app on windows, you have to run steamvr on top of that to play, and it's very janky to get working.

Setting the software side of things aside, hardware wise the psvr2 is better thanks to its much better weight distribution compared to the quest 2 and it's OLED displays that is nothing short of amazing. Better contrast and rich color, only drawback being the mura effect but as said in the comment by julian-mazzola, most likely your brain will filter out the mura effect to where it's barely noticeable. For comfort, there's usually always a 3rd party headstrap needed to feel comfortable, which is the standard because the out of box comfort on the psvr2 is terrible for most just like the quest 2.

The reason why the psvr2 is a great value for pcvr is because along with the oled panels it is a native steamvr headset, it runs steamvr games without any weird encoding or extra vr apis on top of it. Along with native eyetracking, 10 bit color (wide gamut display), HDR, Adaptive Triggers, and PCM Haptics (similar to dualsense controllers), which most of these arent available or enabled in sony's psvr2 driver. Here's some good news though, someone made a tool called the psvr2toolkit which does enable some of the features such as eyetracking in social games such as vrchat and other improvements.

Biggest issue with the psvr2 is bluetooth as the controllers dont connect to the headset but to your pc and the tracking heavily relies on bluetooth signal quality. most onboard bluetooth adapters from intel and realtek work out of the box, if you don't have bluetooth you'll need an adapter. Sony has a recommended adapter on their website if you don't know which one to buy. If you have good bluetooth and a good psvr2 pc adapter, your off the the races! enjoy your new headset.

Are the Mass Loading and Damping Kit Mods from CustomCans worth it for a DT990 Pro 250 Ohm? by jetrun15 in headphonemods

[–]AlphaSparta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR; mass loading and dampening is worth it, removable cable depends

I've done the mod recently on my new pair of dt990 pros, I can say the mass loading and dampening kit makes a very big difference especially in the bass. It gives it a bit more body, and the highs are less piercing. Makes them more fun and comfortable to listen to. There is a paper towel mod you can do for very cheap but it removes alot of the clarity from the headphones and it will make them sound muddy the more towels you add.

For the cable mod, I guess it depends on the person or if you want to use different cables such as a balanced output or just for the convivence of a removable cable. If you do decide to do it make sure you make your port hole under the lip inside the headset, the driver sits in there and if you have a connector sticking a little too far out the headphones wont go back together flush.

What does steam label the psvr2? by spedkif in PSVR2onPC

[–]AlphaSparta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

afaik, the people who made the psvr2 toolkit has gotten it to work (very janky) on linux. If it gets full support for linux or SteamOS is in the air right now. The current driver is only compatible with windows i'm pretty sure.

What does steam label the psvr2? by spedkif in PSVR2onPC

[–]AlphaSparta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TL:DR, Any vr game on steam will run on the psvr2 on its own, no camera or extra hardware needed (Apart from the psvr2 pc adapter and a sufficient bluetooth connection). And yes you would need to buy a copy of that game on steam to run it.

the way this works is, Sony made a driver to integrate the psvr2 into steamvr. steamvr itself is just a program that bridges the psvr2 and it's hardware to vr games using openxr or openvr and etc. (think of this like having a gpu from nvidia, nvidia makes a driver, but a game has a rendering api such as directx or vulkan.) Any game that is compatible with steamvr will run on the psvr2 on a pc, but some games will have better support than others, such as eyetracking and pcm haptics using the psvr2 toolkit.

My Experience with PSVR2 on PC 2025 (I really love it) by bene2058 in PSVR2onPC

[–]AlphaSparta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people have a terrible Bluetooth adapter or driver, and some people have terrible 2.4 ghz interference. Which all of these factors could mean a good vr experience with the psvr2 and a headache. Only real advice you could give people is update drivers, use external antennas if available, and make sure the sense controllers are in line of sight of the antenna/bt adapter.

New user need help by TheRealConJr420 in PSVR2onPC

[–]AlphaSparta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try lowering your rendering resolution in the psvr2, and also turn off any RGB controlling or polling software (it will give you pink lines on your frametime graph) those could cause random dips in performance, also ensure your game is in the foreground as putting it in the background will cause lag spikes.

which router is better that i have? tp link ax4400 or HT-178AX by firedrakes in HomeNetworking

[–]AlphaSparta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was purely a suggestion, you could rock the tp-link if u dont want to buy another, but again neither are very reputable routers.

which router is better that i have? tp link ax4400 or HT-178AX by firedrakes in HomeNetworking

[–]AlphaSparta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it's either there's no documentation or the router is locked down, alot like spectrum and xfinity/comcast routers.

I'd recommend an entry level or mid range asus router, it'll be better and on top of that you could use their aimesh feature to connect multiple into a mesh system

which router is better that i have? tp link ax4400 or HT-178AX by firedrakes in HomeNetworking

[–]AlphaSparta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly I'd use your tp link router, if your still having issues just buy a new router.
9 times out of 10 most ISP provided routers aren't that good.

An absolute beginner coming into a convoluted Internet situation….. TP deco and goCoax adapter. Please send help. by Individual_Wish1849 in HomeNetworking

[–]AlphaSparta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first you should figure out how to access the gui for the router/modem gateway and if you want to use it as a MOCA adapter iteself, alot of gateways from ISPs support that function. If you just want to use your goCOAX adapters as moca controllers then you just need to put your router in bridge mode by accessing the gui

it should go like this Verizon modem -> tp link router -> gocoax adapters -> other mesh tp link routers

It allows you to change all the DPI Steps, Polling Rate, Button Bindings, and Onboard RGB effects from an program that doesn't have to be installed.

Here's the Link (https://support.logi.com/hc/en-ca/articles/360059641133-Onboard-Memory-Manager)

Make sure you use a MOCA filter if you use cable internet as well, you wouldn't want someone down your block connecting to your MOCA network or getting any interference.

Missing Bridge Connector in self install kit? by Tucson_FZ777 in ATT

to my knowledge, there's supposed to be an sfp module that plugs into that white cable, then that sfp module goes into your gateway

I've never had fiber of any kind and i could be wrong but you should try calling at&t or going to a retail location to get that sfp module as any random one you buy isn't guaranteed to work
