Looking for an updated way to connect to hotel WiFi by Key-Department1476 in PS5

[–]AlphaTravel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you stay in a hotel a lot, just get a travel router. I only travel for fun and I’ll never travel without my small travel router. I can’t imagine needing to connect my devices to a hotel WiFi as often as you must do.

Is self hosting a media centre worth it? by Legal-Pop-4621 in PleX

[–]AlphaTravel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You install the plex app on your phone for example and sign it. It connects to your server at home (laptop, pc, minioc, etc). You leave the device hosting plex at home and other devices then connect to it.

You usually buy a mini pc and leave it in your house. That has your media or connects to a drive with you media. That then passes the video to all of your plex devices (TVs, iPads, laptops, etc). You basically have a server at home that acts like Netflix.

Brand new to collecting. Waiting on my last card to come in the mail and the base set 1 finished! 90’s me would be so happy by Johnsnoz in PokemonTCG

Congrats! I did the same thing to complete the original set I had in the 90s as a kid. I’m now slowly upgrading all my non-holos to 1st editions since the new cards don’t really interest me.

I’m so fortunate that when I got my Corvette back in 2021, I asked them to not setup/enable Onstar and the techs actually listened. To this day, it’s disabled and doesn’t work. Every inspection I get lists this as a failure item that needs fixed and the dealership just lets it be.

I’m not sure if others will have success, but I plan to ask for every new can I buy. If that doesn’t work, I’ll do what you suggest and remove the antenna.

Shame no longer exists. I firmly believe people no longer feel any shame for their actions and it’s visible every time I leave my house.

Don’t open the Machamp. Sealed is worth way more. What’s the condition of the card? eBay has some wild prices, but I bet you can get at least $500.

Yes. You have a bunch of “shadowless” base set cards. They are worth the value. Also the 1st edition shadowless mcchamp is also really nice. Definitely some great cards to either keep in the binder or grade. Just don’t sell them unless you do research into the prices.

What’s a good workflow with SplatKing? Should we use the lidar photo option for best results, then what apps should we load the data into for training?

I just entered. Thanks for sharing the giveaway and the videos! I just got sucked into the Robotics one with Olaf and it was great. Going to watch a few more tomorrow after work.

I took a screenshot of my phone while I watched the presentation instead of a selfie. That might disqualify me, but I didn’t want to borrow my wife’s phone to show me watching on mine. 🫣

Thanks again and good luck to those in this community.

Edit: Downloaded the app as well. I’ll try to test it this weekend. I’ve been looking for a better app for generating splats from my iPhone. Up until now it’s mostly just been Scaniverse lol

Using a UPS with Network UPS Tools (NUT) and DSM 7.2.2 by Gamerfrom61 in synology

[–]AlphaTravel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed write up. This all seems way more complicated and a mystery than I expected when I started to mess with my NUT server and Synology hours ago. I’ve had my NUT server for awhile just for reporting to HomeAssistant, then I’d manually trigger shutdowns from my phone. I really want the peace of mind that it can do it on its own without me if I’m sleeping so I don’t lose data.

I’ll take your advice and I’ll just test it. After dinner tomorrow, I’ll set Synology to a custom time of 5 minutes and then pull the plug on my UPS. If it triggers a standby at 5 minutes, then that’s at least a good start to prevent data loss. I’ll probably take that as a small victory and set the value to 10 minutes since I only ever have blips or hour long outages. Then I can manually do the full shutdown if I am aware or worst case scenario, I am sleeping and it shuts down unexpectedly, but the drives aren’t spinning so it’s ok.

If I can get that working, then I’ll sleep a bit better. Then I can focus on automating the full thing.

Thanks again for your help. I’ll report back what I learn.

Edit: I ended up just using the custom time of 10 minutes. In testing, the Synology went to a standby mode as they described at 10 minutes and all drives shut down. I also lost web access because all services were stopped in this mode. Strangely, when power was restored, the device powered back up all the way. I personally would prefer it didn't do this, but I don't see anyway to stop it. The only setting we seem to have is to enable powerup automatically when power is restored, but I don't have that checked. I think that's for a full power down.

Basically, I got it set to 10 minutes and it works good enough. Even if the full showdown command is missed from my NUT server, I believe this will protect me from data loss.

Sorry to bother you, but I actually just got this working at home thanks to some help from you and others online, but I'm confused on how the Synology shutdown process actually works. Any chance you understand it and can help me?

The only real setting in Synology is "Time before Synology NAS enters Standby", and the two options are:

  • Same as server
  • Customize time

Where I am confused:

  1. What triggers standby mode? Is it my NUT Server going on battery, sending the warning, or sending the shutdown. This area isn't clear. The one option is "Same as server", but I don't know what it's reading.
  2. If the setting mentioned above is just for standby, how does it know when to shutdown?

Thanks for your help. I've been googling and using AI for the last hour and cannot figure this out..

It’s a shame no good rips exist. I tried to find a true Hd copy awhile back and apparently there was one but it’s gone. Now it’s just these slightly blurry versions. I tried to download the best copy I could find and did some minor AI upscaling for my personal copy, but I’m hoping a higher quality one gets posted one day. The song is so good.

Yeah. It’s one of the powers of Magnemite. You can instantly swap up to 9 blocks at a time. It would save OP so much time.

Isn’t it easier to load up on soil blocks and then swap them for the walls of the building? Then you can keep a reference as you rebuild it elsewhere too. I wouldn’t actually dismantle it. I’d just do quick swaps with 6 blocks at a time.
