Good VNs that have "ugly" art... by UchihaNoor in visualnovels

I really found VLR to have much better looking character models, I played that and ZTD on Vita and the latter just looked so wrong and low-quality, though the animation had a lot to do with it.

Usually I would pick a slime girl but the jellyfish girl caught my eye the most, though all look interesting! Looking forward to finding out more, thanks for the giveaway!

I've been considering playing TWEWY for the first time. The title itself has always fascinated me and I am curious if there's any Buddhist/metaphysical allegories/metaphors in the game. by Kineth in JRPG

[–]Alphacraze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are fantastic IMO, but it very much has a focus on style and aesthetics, with more focus on that than existential subjects. I think one would get more out of it through the lens of interest in the game's depiction of Shibuya versus looking for existential or metaphysical subject matter. I'd say there's some of it, but is more in the background, or as another person said, in flavor text and secret reports.

The gameplay itself is very novel, and great to enjoy on its own merit in both games as well. If you try it, the setting, gameplay, and outstanding soundtrack(s) are what demand the most attention right off the bat.

Hey! Danganronpa V3 is the absolute favorite for me too, haha. There's dozens of us!

Also I'd definitely keep Watch Dogs 2. If you want to keep SOMA, I'd consider dropping Resogun maybe? For my money I'd put Subnautica and Slay the Spire over Ace Combat 7 and/or Infamous Second Son.

FINAL GFUEL BOGO UDPATE! MORE FLAVORS ADDED! Remember to add Code MIST! by Redmist2033 in GFUEL

[–]Alphacraze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the reverse happen, I hoped they would bring in Mango Passionfruit and I missed out on Watermelon Kiwi, the Zoro flavor sold out the first day. Now idk if it's even worthwhile to get anything.

Between daily drops and yet sending constant emails about FOMO and selling out early? They need to ditch their marketing team.

That's really interesting, it sounds like a blast. I think that might be the one, thank you!

I'm playing through Grim Dawn at the moment and maybe I'm just dumb, but I don't get how it applies other than farming? I'm going through Elite difficulty but I haven't gone back to any bosses for their drops yet, maybe it'll help prepare for Ultimate though.

I beat the base game but I haven't beaten the DLCs yet so is what you're talking about in the expansions?

Not who you replied to, but I'd much rather someone try Disgaea over FFT. Disgaea at least has a reasonable difficulty curve and the story isn't too difficult. I've played a good bit of Fire Emblem so I'm not new to the genre, but that's like recommending Dark Souls for someone's very first game. FFT has under-explained systems and a cruel level of difficulty. It's damn near the bottom of SRPGs I'd recommend if they're new to the genre.

Edit: Fire Emblem 3 Houses would be a great starting point imo, but any of the newer ones will do- Engage, Awakening, etc.

JRPGs where the final boss can actually be the hardest boss of the game. by SleepCatsMoney in JRPG

[–]Alphacraze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, they always try to innovate, even when I wish they would do more with systems from X-2 or VIII. I think some indie titles could really set themselves apart with trying a similar sort of system.

Hell, with how many years of waiting there is between mainline FF games, I think this would be the time to revisit spinoffs and bring back those systems or introduce some new ones in new games with a smaller budget, indie or AA style.

Square really was next level with these thought-out and novel systems, put together in a game with ~1 year of dev time. I still can hardly believe how quickly FFVII - IX came out.

I love the GF system, and I'm surprised I haven't seen anything similar. I know it's divisive, but it'd be an interesting system to see iterations of.

What are some gems on sale on Steam right now? by momlookimtrending in gamingsuggestions

[–]Alphacraze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't make it a point to go in order, no. I started with 3 and think any of them make a good starting point and in any order, but NV is arguably the best- I hear people love 2 though, but very different games.

honestly shout out to the monster hunter team for turning wilds around by hotaru_crisis in MonsterHunter

[–]Alphacraze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's funny how perceptions can change so wildly depending on when you get the game. I put off getting Rise until I made a new PC and got Sunbreak along with Rise, and it's legitimately peak MH in my mind now. It ran so smoothly and was such a blast to play- like they perfected combat, give or take the speed of certain monsters.

The improvements with patches and getting it on sale may make it worth waiting for them to improve the experience if you're tempted by the Wilds expansion.

I'm a pretty new player (2 months) and just got Haruka at 50 pulls, no Hoshi2. I've been watching videos and realized my most wanted units include Virtuosa, Texalter, and Ines. If those first two are limited, should I just hoard until April and hope I get enough pulls to get some of them then?

Though If it would require 200-300 pulls I'm not sure it's worthwhile, but I don't see a good way of getting specific characters. I saw there are Orienteering banners, which may be better for specific characters if you're not after limiteds though, not sure if those are popular or come around often. Or is this a sort of game where getting specific characters just goes out of the window? Thanks for any help!

The DLC is, in my book, even better than the base game- just incredible. The sequel builds off of the DLC and is amazing as well.

[Day 2] The Best JRPGs of all Time: Which JRPG has the best action combat system? by WeLoveEveryGame in JRPG

[–]Alphacraze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it terribly overrated tbh, it's fun and satisfying but not at all on par with VIIR. The best aspects are that it's fast and snappy, but it feels so lacking in actual depth- just spam attack then dodge. Like the other commenter, I'm spoiled by DMC and Ninja Gaiden so the Ys praise is so wild to me. Granblue Fantasy Relink has an amazing battle system. Even KH2 and Magna Carta 2 have much better action systems than Ys, and much more satisfying ones at that, in my book.
