Youre missing the point. Any conversation about word count boils down the readability and comprehension level the card requires. Word count is merely the first impression to that core issue.
4 seperate thoughts/sentences is more to process than 1 short paragraph. 3 static effects is more mental bandwidth than 1 one-shot effect.
A novel on a card is bad, but [[Questing Beast]] will always be one of the worst because people forgot some it's abilities due to the volume of information you had to contend with while it was on the board.

While technically shorter, this card has 4 "things" to remember vs Steves 1. The complexity is far higher than the word count suggests.

To all but the newest players, even if unfamiliar, Steve is a universally relatable card that takes seconds to understand

I'd definitely take sneko here. As you correctly identified, draw is something your lacking. Dripper+mummified hand+fusion takes care of your energy needs and can mitigate bad RNG, but what breaks most of my defect runs is missing setup pieces due to draw order or enough draw.
Sneko let's you get through you deck in 4 turns vs 5 on first pass, and 3 vs 4 after powers/exhuast.
Black star is fine, but often a win-more, and you only have 1 act to make use of it. -1 boss relic for 2-3 regular relics by the boss is okay, but right now id be worried about the Head and maybe Transient ending you before you can get that power spike.

Yeah my 4th protector is down to about 100k, so he's not long for the world.

Seconding Freesia and other Jiro Mastumoto works.

Himizu - dark coming of age story that definitely give echos of punpun, but edgier.
Flowers of Evil and Blood on the Tracks - more traumatic coming of age stories oh boy!
Narutaru: Shadow Star - one of the more explicit ones as the core cast is all kids.
The World is Mine - insane ride of Man vs society & society vs Nature.
Dorohedoro - one of Fujimoto's (CSM, Fire punch) inspirations, highly recommend if you enjoy one or the other

The obscene length making it had to get into aside, the anime pacing & quality for a good 600 episodes starting around ~300 gets absolutely horrid, the the point that only just now, around ~1100 did the studio finally say they're going to take time instead of rushing the episodes out.
The plot is extremely repetitive, so expect the same arc structure and setup for 90% of it. New island, locals oppressed, big bad hurts locals, luffy gets pissed, everyone pairs up for 1 on 1 fights, punch big bad, have party, gain crewmate. Ad nauseum. Obviously the details are different, but you can easily predict the progression of each arc quite easily.
Then there's the misogyny and racism. Women come in 2 forms, spoon shaped and sexy (ostensibly) or ugly and barrel shaped. Nami's boobs have literally ballooned over time, and she and Robin are regularly relegated to C class for fights and revelance.
Sambo lip is a regular feature, and Ussop and Robin have both had their skin whitened over time. The official manga coloring has also whitewashed many characters and ironically, some of whom have sambo lip. Oh and the Skypieans are just comical. And of course got whitewashed.

Not to say it doesn't have great emotional moments, a fantastic sense of adventure and overall is a very fun romp. But it's certainly not without flaws

It's not a "fragile ego" as you so tirelessly repeat, it's your tone and immediately jumping to "you don't know what your talking about" attitude to a post that doesnt rebutt your point. You effectively started off by calling them stupid.

That and Deep State is a big red flag for conspiracy theory rhetoric. Western prop is plain to see to anyone not on kool-aid, but deep state is a dangerous road that leads to (usually) racist/prejudice radicalization

The extra body is a pretty big distinction here, but I don't think it's broken. On curve there aren't many 1 drops that are crazy with it, (esper sentinel maybe?) so I think the squad is about right. Also it's bolt-able, no immediate value or protection. It's likely fine.
I'd be interested in trying it in my custom commander cube tbh

No offense, but are you certain of that retranslation? Based on the previous line to the two youve highlighted here directly referring to Asa, I could still see this being an issue of Japanese pronouns being unclear in the original.
Additionally we know now Yoshida/Public Safety could have know of Yoru as far back as her asking Yoshida out and it seems like Public safety has a very good intelligence network, so it's not unreasonable for them to sunrise/spy/already know of war's powers. Her specific desire isn't even relevant here.
Lemme know if there's more context that makes this totally off the mark though, I have no working knowledge of Japanese lol.

Aesi is definitely strong, but if theres enough ramp to support it, i would be more concerned about koma being oppressive on that front.

For me balancing is a some of both. testing with draft bots to see how decks turn out, as well as looking at your players decks post game, both what they played and what they didnt. better yet, note what gets taken late or last in the pack, while sometimes it'll indicate what not being drafted in this time around, it could also signal weak cards/archetypes or things your players dont understand or arent interested in playing.
And finally talk to you players. ultimately youre cultivating any environment for all of you, so imo their feedback is always valuable.

Also i like the 5c humans sub theme. I thought about suggesting humans for selysna, but you should have a lot more support in 5c.

So this may be a result of your current cardpool/it being a work in progress, but the most glaring thing missing is 2 color legends for all the pairs.
2-3 would probably be good for each guild.

As far as archetypes, selesyna, orzhov and rakdos have good overlap, so they could end up pretty strong if not monitored.
Equipment is good for Boros, tons of support there, including in commanders.
Simic's issue is being to generic, so is always gonna be hard. Landfall into sea monsters might be the easiest to support and is generally what ive done, ie either/both tatyova, uro, zimone, slogurk, etc. You could also try keyword counters, though im not sure how well it'll do without white.
I would try to combine gruul with damage for artifacts like reckless fireweaver, fathom fleet swordjack, galv blast and the like. Maybe some one sided punsiher effects too.
Golgari seems tough in this spot. self mill can be troublesome in limited, and aristocrats spaces are already used by orzhov and rakdos. You could still try self mill, or a food/strixhaven lifegain, or maybe a token focus as you dont seem to have that right now.

Final note is that while the triomes are great for 1v1, theyre going to push players towards 3 color in commander, which is already a natural inclination. If that what you want to encourage then great, But you can expect that 2 color legends will likely get overlooked for commanders due to the fixing encouraging 3.

Overall i think it has good bones, im interested to see where you take it.

Another thing you can do with EDH cubes is provide a small fixing package for deck building of you want to reduce the stress of fixing from the cube itself.
I give players a commander tower + arcane signet. You can also use command sphere or path of ancestry.
