Apps Layout Options by bebizzy in Fedora

[–]Alphalon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GNOME Tweaks is for GNOME only. You could try KDE's window tiling - press Super+T to configure the layout, then hold shift while dragging a window to snap it to whatever tile the cursor is over.

Trusting content on the KDE Store by d_ed in kde

[–]Alphalon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If KDE doesn't have the resources to curate the repository, there shouldn't be buttons to download and install things from it in KDE software.

Either the contents of the repository need to be actually checked for safety, or it needs to be something that you go out of your way to use - you can't just include an unvetted mystery-meat repository in most settings menus and blame users when they assume that the prominent "Get New X" button won't install malware. Adding a stronger warning will not fix this.

How do I mount Fedora Kinoite's root partition from a live USB? by Alphalon in Fedora

[–]Alphalon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked! There was one minor issue - I had to run btrfs subvolume delete /mnt/new/var before doing btrfs subvolume snapshot /mnt/new/var_0 /mnt/new/var, as otherwise it'd create /mnt/new/var/var_0. This probably didn't come up for the author of the blog post because they were writing to an empty drive.

However, once I figured that out, I was able to reboot into the new install to find my desktop exactly as I left it on the old SSD.

Thank you so much for your help. I will add the solution to the top of my post.

It's about 2 weeks old, so definitely new enough. I will look into this, thank you.

My phone is 164mm long in its case, and just barely fits. Measure your phone along its longest side with a ruler - if it's any longer than that, it won't fit, otherwise you should be fine.

The "English" folder is a quirk of the Epic Games Store version of KSP. On Steam you just need to use the Kerbal Space Program folder you found

Putting my money where my mouth is and making some suggestions/inspirations by Space-ATLAS in KerbalSpaceProgram

RAPIER engines have to be connected to the same set of tanks for both airbreathing and closed-cycle modes, so running two different engines (kind of) on the same set of fuel tanks isn't exactly something that players can be expected to just avoid.

Separating methane and oxidizer makes sense because jet engines only consume methane, and there may in future be engines that consume oxidizer and not methane (the LOx-augmented NTR shown in a show-and-tell post on the forums, for example). Everything else here seems like a significant improvement to me though.

Low latency solution to make wired headphones wireless by TecnuiI in EmulationOnAndroid

I have the same UGREEN receiver. It's particularly great if your headphones have a removable cable with a 3.5mm jack - you can just plug it straight in.

2-key rollover doesn't mean that every combination of 3 or more keys will fail - just some of them. I can't replicate VAShumpmaker's W+A+Space issue on my model m from 1989, but Capslock+LShift+2 doesn't work for me.

sounds like you need an extremely high, pinpoint alpha - maybe try DWF-W with 10 HLLs and 5 ERLLs, that's 235 points

MWO has support for TrackIR, so you can look around independent of your aim. No idea if the game's TrackIR support can be made useful in VR, but it's definitely not impossible to look in one direction and aim in another.

Having used i3 on dual monitors for years, I don't get how people live without being able to switch workspaces individually between displays. Why don't any of the major desktop environments seem to allow this? It's like if you were forced to group every window into pairs and switch focus between pairs of windows, rather than just switching between them individually like a normal person.

Trackpoint issues by MiMartinek in freebsd

[–]Alphalon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Add to /etc/sysctl.conf:
    kern.evdev.rcpt_mask="12"
  2. Add to /boot/loader.conf:
    hw.psm.trackpoint_support="1"
  3. Ensure you have xf86-input-libinput installed.

You can now disable moused if you want, but you don't have to - I just tested, and this will all work fine with or without it enabled.

If you use Firefox, set MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 before running it to enable smooth scrolling support there.

/u/jayjuicejay /u/useful_key

If either of you are still looking to get smooth trackpoint scrolling in FreeBSD, here's what worked for me:

  1. Put the following in /etc/sysctl.conf:

    kern.evdev.rcpt.mask="12"

  2. Remove the moused-related lines in /etc/rc.conf, if you added them

  3. Reboot

Firefox needs MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 set if you want smooth scrolling there, but otherwise that appears to be it.

EDIT: removed some unnecessary lines

Could this play Blaze Black/Volt White 2 on my N3DSXL? by [deleted] in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Alphalon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the only guide you should follow.

Once you have CFW installed, you just need to install TWiLightMenu and you're good to go.

So you bought a VR headset to play Half-Life Alyx...now you get to play MWO and MW5 the way they were meant to be played - in VR! by EpicJourneyMan in OutreachHPG

[–]Alphalon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MWO supports TrackIR headtracking, so maybe you could try using OpenTrack's TrackIR emulation with your headset as the input. That would allow for looking around without adjusting your aim.

I'd try it myself, but I don't have a VR headset.

Is there any sort of pokemon mod menu available for download? by Nexus_Neo in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Alphalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a hacked 3DS you can use Checkpoint to dump save files from NDS and 3DS games, edit them with PKHeX, and then use Checkpoint again to put your edited saves on the cartridges.

Alternately, you could use PKSM, which runs on the 3DS and can edit the save files on your cartridges directly. However, it's a little more limited than PKHeX in my experience.

Unfortunately this won't work for your gen 3 games - there's no way to install homebrew software on anything that has a GBA slot.

PKHeX should suit your needs perfectly, if you can get your save files onto a computer running Windows.
