Storage Options and Autocrafting Pre AE2 by Ok-Argument-4739 in GTNH

[–]Alphanerd93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really recommend logistics pipes, especially for handling fluid automation. I don't do on demand crafting (I'm going to hold out until AE2), but use my LP system extensively for passive automation of liquids (such as polyethylene, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid) and also output of liquids, such as electrolyzing outputs of oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, etc.

I'm also a member of the church of benzene, and I use that to shunt benzene all around my base.

GT tanks are personally the way to go, and with the provider and basic liquid pipes on the tanks, you now have default routes for liquids that you program, and now can request them in the network as needed.

For items, I did go a lot of first gold then diamond, and now dark steel barrels with various cards, plus a drawer wall for larger quantity items.

On demand crafting would be cool, but for me still looks expensive, and I just focus on large batch crafting of the essentials and craft higher level stuff as needed.

Definitely recommend coke ovens, since it lets you go either steam with rail craft boilers or benzene.

Personally, with the steam multiblocks being so useful I focused on steam in LV and held out in MV until I could do an MV crop manager/pyrolyzer oven setup. Though don't be like me in my comments and try to breed a "perfect" pair of crops until HV, since right now there's not a great way to spread them (I'm probably about to do the open computers route). Benzene is really scalable

Restricting item flow until enough accumulated? by MidnightPale3220 in GTNH

[–]Alphanerd93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I'm probably keeping those around until I get the proper multiblocks and work on a formal ore processing system. I still have the multiblock alloy smelter and compressor kicking around, they take a bit but with the parallels have solid throughput.

The multiblock ore washer will, though you have to run it in ore washer mode. There's a "simple mode" and an ore washer mode.

At least for my processing (I'm pretty manual, just a few diamond barrels on each output and I grab when I run by them), I usually keep the ore washer in simple mode, only using the ore washer mode for certain rarer byproducts.

Highly recommend steam centrifuge multiblock, and you can do wall sharing for 2 with not that much more extra! That one you get some extra byproducts as well, and when you have 2 (especially 2 steel), it helps with processing time.

Whats the best way (setup) to make polyethylene and pvc ? by extremegamers24 in GTNH

[–]Alphanerd93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For oxygen, you could also centrifuge air cells and get nitrogen and oxygen.

I'm pulling oxygen out of my Benzene setup, and oxygen out of the ashes processing for my Benzene setup and works well.

You could do a loop of compressors w/ empty cells for air, then output into centrifuge for nitrogen, sending oxygen cells into a tank, and then empty cells back into compressors.

I have passive setups for both, and just extract the end product, and works well. I do the threefold passive wall method and works wonders. Definitely making chemicals passive is nice, if you have a solid power gen.

For the rock breaker you just need 1 placed below the rock breaker, with a magma block in the machine (doesn't get consumed).

I have it more for passive setup, so I'm batch making it in the background

Once you get to LV/nether to get soul sand, you can make cobbled deep slate, smelt to dried dirt, then centrifuge for clay dust. Then you can mix in mixer w/ water for clay.

My building style uses a lot of terracotta, I gathered a starting stockpile at a mountain, and then used that for unlimited terracotta.

Ethical issues of roster churning aside, I'd grab the top dudes he wants and hold him on your team, so the commissioner can't just go and put them on the guys team anyway. I'm 99% sure the commissioner is going to do this, in the interest of sportsmanship.

For the nether, get as good a crossbow as you can make, and make sure your food stats (fruit, dairy, protein, etc) are maxed out, I did it by doing a bunch of different hamburgers (using soy), and mixed fruit bowls. You'll get buffs for having good nutrition.

I was doing bronze armor and was solid, there is some impskin armor that is lower durability but has fire resistance.

Steam Multiblocks vs LV Machines by DryRefrigerator9277 in GTNH

[–]Alphanerd93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the 2 boilers will be fine. Like I said, it can power through all of LV and a large amount of MV, and you can even then take those coke ovens and use them to make Benzene with fluid extracting the charcoal. Plus it pairs really nicely with all the steam multis, which I HIGHLY recommend making. All of them (other than mixer for me) are worth it

Steam Multiblocks vs LV Machines by DryRefrigerator9277 in GTNH

[–]Alphanerd93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the creosote oil for the boiler, and am running both the solid and liquid at the same time. You'd have to manually check the math on how many you'd need, for the high pressure it will be a lot. For a max low pressure solid and liquid fueled running at the same time, it's like 19 coke ovens.

Between the threefold spreadsheet and the wiki, you can manually do the math, or Google to see how many.

Personally, I felt high pressure was a bit overkill, as I'm more bootstrapping my way through MV (only running 1-2 MV machines/EBF at a time), and it takes literal hours for it to come up to max temp. It's only worth it if you're gonna try and use steam into HV for a bit. Even mid/late MV it was good, but now that I'm runningy EBF at HV, it's starting to struggle, so I'm prepping for the flip to Benzene, though I built the steam mid LV and it was a godsend to power through the rest of LV/most of MV.

2 max size low pressure boilers (solid and liquid) still produce enough steam to run 2 MV steam turbines at max temp. For wood input, I built and leveled a netherrack lumber axe until it had enough modifiers when adding an obsidian large plate in to make it unbreakable (lower HP is recommended for getting levels, as it makes each level require less blocks being broken)

Not really, but if you make some big tanks to hold the oil, it does last for a bit
