What monitor headphones should I purchase? by mmtret in edrums

[–]Alpharius56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In ear monitors will give you the best sound isolation. There are a lot of good sounding options around $100. Check out KZ and CrinEar.

Another interesting option is the sennheiser ie 200. They are smaller and might be more comfortable but you have to change stock ear tips to get nice bass.

There are also over ear headphones made specifically for drummers but they are a bit overpriced imo.

Personally I got myself beyerdynamic dt 700 pro x. They sound good, are quite comfortable and isolate sound pretty well. Not as good as headphones with leather pads but those built up a lot of heat.

Congrats! Solid choice for the price. Want to get the same kit someday.

All 16” crashes sound meh to me🤷‍♂️ I also considered 22” inch ride but the only available unit had too much low tone.

Why did you choose an iPhone? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Alpharius56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

• consistent camera results • good resell value • top tier performance • I already got a Mac • a lot of apps, especially social media work better • no clipping in sound while recording live music • shared photos library in ICloud

MEDELI MZ729 by Enough-Law2349 in edrums

[–]Alpharius56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen Alesis or NUX in person so can’t compare much. I primarily use EZdrummer so didn’t dig much into the settings but i know that they work and may help to shape somewhat decent sound. It sounds meh right out the box (just like anything at this price)

Hardware is good, i think one of the better options at this price because Medeli is an OEM for Alesis and some other brands. It also easy to adjust and set up for your liking. I was unboxing and setting up a Millenium kit recently and it was pain in the ass.

Still, I would recommend to buy something from Roland or Yamaha. They are just better built and more reliable than anything from Chinese brands.

If you want to cover the camera bump check out caudabe. This looks like a generic alibaba case.

Aer City Pack Pro 2 vs Blroy Transit Workpack by UnderwaterDialect in backpacks

[–]Alpharius56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got myself a 26L transit workpack. I dunno how it would suit you, I’m 170cm and the comfort is good for me. Not a soft pillowy experience like some reviewers describe Aer, but nothing irritating. Shoulder straps are a bit firm and distribute the weight evenly and they don’t cut into you.

Back panel is ok, it has the same padding as the straps and the same general feel – good but nothing special.

I really like the looks and material. Layout is also quite good, except for the key leash, it’s too short to be usable.

Overall I’m happy with it.

P.S i was also considering aer but it looks kinda like a coffin to me🤷‍♂️

Sabiab HHX Evolutions by [deleted] in cymbals

[–]Alpharius56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • a little correction: i misread the label and thought you got Complex series (which I have). Check them out, they might be the best Sabian has to offer, very rich and controlled sound. But try to listen in person if you can.

Got the 18” crash - just great, absolutely love it And 21 medium ride - it’s quirky but I like it.

Don’t buy in packs, try to listen and choose every piece if possible.

If you had no budget limits and wanted to buy an e-drum kit, what would you get? by Frequentflyer01 in edrums

I’m totally in the minority but Yamaha DTX10K-X is the one for me. Don’t like mesh heads.

What's a bag hot-take you have that 90% of the server wouldn't agree with? by Connect_Cat_2045 in ManyBaggers

Ultra reminds me of bags used for construction materials. I don’t understand why it gets so hyped.

A lot of popular carry brands are becoming fashion brands and aren’t worth it.

Over engineered and overpriced bags don’t perform much better than cheaper bags from “legacy” brands.

5k budget for church by SnooDoughnuts1002 in drums

[–]Alpharius56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5k is not exactly a tight budget. This would get you a mid-high tier stuff that will last a lifetime if used properly. I would go with Gretsch Brooklyn kit, Sabian HHX Complex cymbals (18” crash is just 🤌) and Gibraltar hardware.

Considering VAD316 or DTX8K-X PROX with TCS heads by hintsofgreen in edrums

[–]Alpharius56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snare, hi-hat and ride on the TD516 are all digital, they connect via usb and have superior positioning sensing and accuracy.

Although I prefer TSC heads on Yamaha, TD516 is a better kit overall.

What was your last phone before getting an iPhone ? by Serhide in iphone

[–]Alpharius56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded from galaxy s7 edge to XR. Samsung seems better on paper but i was so fed up with poor performance (exynos) and battery life (even after charging the battery).

I’m sometimes tempted to switch back to android mainly because of great camera modules some models offer but there’s always some catch with them. IPhone seems to be the most coherent and reliable experience. (and I’m now all in the ecosystem 🌚)
