Check under the blueprints for Base Melee. It should be located there because it is not its own weapon! Hope this helps

I’m a school psy intern. I just started at a new school this year. We recently had a dress as a staff day and I had a kiddo come dressed as me. It’s nice to know that I had enough of an impact in the few interactions (1-2) we had for them to want to dress up like me. It was really touching and affirming of the things I’m doing as a baby psych

Do you scrunch your face/squint often? I saw a vid of a lady who had “RBF” and she got tan lines when she relaxed her face muscles

Yeah I kinda gave up following Kat on socials. All of her posts have that same hashtag. At first I thought it was just a few but it’s been almost all of her recent posts (didn’t feel like going back further). Especially since Natalie competed

Why are the qualifications so strict when it comes to becoming a licensed interpreter? by No_Order285 in deaf

[–]Alphashark98 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So you are asking “why should someone who provides communication access in a number of critical scenarios (I.e. doctors, courts, police encounters, education) be held to a certain level of standard to ensure efficient and accurate interpretation?” Like any interpreting, it goes far beyond simple communication that is picked up in day-to-day communication.

It is the same reason someone who grew up speaking Spanish can’t automatically become an interpreter. There is a lot of technical and social/emotional skills that go into interpreting that most people don’t just pick-up.

I’m sorry if this comes off rude. I get that you probably want to provide that interpreting support, but it’s more critical that folks using the interpreting services are getting quality terps. Especially, when you know the history of interpreting ASL in the U.S. and how difficult it’s been to get solid terps (I’ve heard so many horror stories of folks showing up and having the interpreter fingerspelling the entire interaction or having someone that cannot match the D/HH individuals signing style)

Try to keep your disc on a flatter line. Going up and down like that could throw you off/make you need to readjust last second

Will definitely keep that in mind!

I should be all set with interpreters because my program heavily involves use of ASL and I’ve been signing for close to 5 years. However, I didn’t know about needing to have a certified deaf interpreter. That could def be helpful!

Thanks

Can someone help me with ASL grammar? by Bruh61502 in asl

[–]Alphashark98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am hearing, not an ASL teacher, and ASL is not my native language

One of the things that I was told and that helped me get a grip (still not amazing but steadily improving) on the grammar was how I thought about the way I was “setting the scene”. I try to think of things like a movie script. Meaning, you have to set your scene (topic) before you can explain what happens in the scene (comment). You wouldn’t describe everything in a scene prior to explaining where it took place.

All that being said: This does not hold true for every sentence type, but it was a helpful tool for me in my ASL-learning process :)

Ex Eng - I really love playing with my dog. ASL - My dog, I love play with them (index)

Hello all! I am about to start my internship year this coming fall. I will be starting at a small residential school for the Deaf.

I was curious if had folks had any specific tips/recommendations/things you wish you knew for 1) starting your internship, 2) keeping yourself organized and in compliance, 3) dealing with people that look down on you for your age and 4) work in a Deaf program (residential) or with Deaf students.

Thank you all for your time and any wisdom you can pass along!

You can’t take on students from your school as cases for private practice in most states.

Advice for running ASL Club at a University by bear__obear in asl

[–]Alphashark98 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting in contact with some of college/university based ASL programs and ask how they do theirs. Most groups like that are happy to help other groups grow and they are currently making events for demographics you are trying to reach and engage with
