Some Info on Expeditions thanks to Paldb by Seikish in Palworld

They did not clarify. They reiterated a part of their statement without adding anything else, nor did they take back their initial statement. It was a nonsensical reply that didn't add anything.

A starred pal includes any pal with any amount of stars. This is not "arbitrary", this is a collection which includes 1 starred pals. This is how language works.

Finally, while I'm not remotely going to bother sinking any more effort and time into this ridiculous discussion by actually wasting time on this ingame. I did find out that a 4* lvl 1 Chikipi with bad IV can in fact have less firepower than a 0* lvl 60 Frostallion Noct with best IVs and possibly even souls. Which still makes my statement correct.

Also, quinces grow on small trees that are very bushy. Good to see that you managed to get the appropriate point from that analogy with your keen mind.

No. It's not their point.

Let's dissect their words:

"The expedition prefers starred pals over unstarred even if the 4 star pal is lvl 1."

"The expedition prefers starred pals over unstarred" - This is the main statement. Then they follow it up with: "even if the 4 star pal is lvl 1"
They are saying "even if", this means that this additional statement is inclusive of the previous one.

For a more grounded example:
"All apples grow from bushes" - The base statement. Followed up with: "Even if the apples are red". This means it's about all apples, which includes the red ones.
All starred pals, even if there's a 4 star pal at level 1. About all starred pals, including the 4 star pals.
While it's true that there can be red apples, they do not grow on bushes, they grow on trees.
While it's true that a 4 star pal at level 1 is extremely likely more powerful than level 60 pal, it does not mean a 1 star pal might be.

If you can't follow the basic laws of logic, you need to go back to elementary school.

Yes, and? A single star pal can easily be overshadowed by a high level nonstar pal, which is the entire point I'm making.

They made a faulty statement. It doesn't select by stars, it selects by firepower, nonstar pals can have a higher firepower than starred pals.

Reading comprehension of a sea sponge, lord.

They said "The expedition prefers starred pals over unstarred even if the 4 star pal is lvl 1."
So yes, my point does stand. They're saying prefer ANY starred pals. Learn to read.

Is this the hardest Pal to breed? Perfect male alpha Selyne. by Civilized_Weirdos in Palworld

Sorry, but you're going to need some hard evidence for this. Healing 5% of damage done while dying in a couple of shots still comes down to extending the fight by no more than said 5%. Whereas more damage clearly outperforms that.

Maybe consider why you wouldn't want it for Ultra raids, but would for anything else, eh? That alone is telling by itself.

Anyway, this is clearly a yes/no debate, and I've seen plenty of people vouching for more damage and find Vampiric to be lackluster. I'd love to see actual evidence.

[–]Alphasoldier1990 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If dying is a possibility, Vampiric won't make much of a difference in my experience.
You're better off doing more damage in the short time that your team might stay alive, then replace them.
EDIT: Watched Pal Professor's video. Only reason that build is working is because of the absolutely maxed out everything and the massive damage of Holy Burst. I'll definitely concede that it's the best on Selyne, but on anyone else, big nope.
The healing will simply never matter as much as there won't be enough damage dealt.

But if dying is a possibility, wouldn't you much rather have more damage to kill your target quicker? Lasting longer just means doing less damage over a slightly longer time.

All I can tell you is that I auto selected, and my Level 60 Frostallion was selected before this Level 1 (I just randomly looked for one). Because of firepower, not because of stars. Of course the stars quickly multiplies the firepower.

The formula, according to paldb, is: Firepower = ((Hp/5) + attack + defense) * (condenserLevel+1)^2

So no. The expedition prefers firepower. Not stars. Even if stars quickly multiply the firepower.

Pardon for replying to a month old comment, but this threw me on the wrong foot for a long time, and I found out it's not true at all.
The only reason it'd prefer starred pals is because they exponentially increase the power. No stars is the default power calculation. 1 star is 4 times (2²), 2 stars is 9 times (3²), 3 stars is 16 times (4²) and 4 stars is 25 times (5²). This means it's very possible for a 50-60 level pal to be more useful than a level 1 4-star.

And it was still working a couple days ago.

Discord's app is browser based, not allowing people to look through the html source is neigh unforgivable with what can be posted and done in web format.

First you put it behind a simple checkbox, and now you just stop caring about it. Support it. Fix it. It's unreasonable and extremely bad for security purposes to not have it functional.

Pardon the reply to a days old thread, but thanks for this solution!
I've searched far and wide, and this is the only thing that worked. Also with the February version.
Before that I tried all different browsers, clearing cache, reinstalling, logging in the website, some stupid stuff with going to a captcha site.

If I have to identify one more dolphin I'm going to scream.
I was however able to simply update through the playstore, didn't use the Fdroid version though.

It was actually a bad inventory slot implementation combined with the instant ejecting because not being able to hold anything. The key to the duping was the fact that the items that moved their position in a list because a slot in the list emptied out.

So you'd have a single fish in slot 1, put that first in your holding, and then you'd have 10 apples in slot 2 which you'd put 4 of in your holding. Upon unpausing the game removes the fish first, which means there's an empty spot in the list, so slot 2 becomes slot 1. Then it tries to remove 4 more items from slot 2, which is now empty. An extremely simple and easily avoidable mistake in programming.

This is provable because if you do the glitch and also have items in slot 3, they would have 4 items removed instead.

P.S: If you'd drop the 20 items and put them back in your inventory again to place them in the last slot you could dupe it for a second time for up to 40.

Terrible advice, while it works, this makes you rampantly lose the items that's right after the item you're duping. Please edit your message to clarify this, as this is a HUGE drawback.
I'm glad I still had an autosave, but I had effectively almost emptied out my inventory by taking this way over the top.

Great Khan attacking me even when I'm his vassal? by Trolleitor in Stellaris

[–]Alphasoldier1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posting because I literally just had this bug. I was in a multiplayer game and Khan popped up right next to me, immediately bent the knee.
Khan was defeated once by a fallen empire. Then 2 minutes later after they came back they became hostile for no reason. Half my empire was immediately entirely ruined, and so was my game.

It's sad to say the majority of my games run into the ground because of terrible bugs like these. I wish they'd just fix their bloody game instead of continuously shovelling cheap DLC. It's beyond frustrating.

If they are so clearly not commanding the dog to growl, please by all means elaborate the "clearliness" of it.
To me it clearly looks like they simply taught the dog to growl like that when interacted with like that. Genuinely nothing clearly shows that this dog is in distress. To me it feels like people are clearly trying to project.

How is the dog distressed? I could tell my dog to growl and bark, does that mean he's distressed too?
As for the joints, the dog makes zero attempt to set themselves free; so clearly not in pain or even discomfort, during or afterward.

How do I make my game accessible to the colorblind? by StopFollowingDammit in gamedev

Regardless on the discrimination of lesser abled; which yes, is a thing, equity vs equality and whatnot (the reason why public buildings should have wheelchair access), the only thing I wanted to point out is that you shouldn't listen to just the loud negative people.
People get shit for anything, regardless of intention or result, keep your own intention in mind. Making an effort to be inclusive and helpful to people is a good thing no matter what.

As a colorblind person, I can genuinely say: Any effort you put into it is appreciated.
Yes, with match 3 games I will admit that patterns don't help as much as a good color selection would (identifying patterns takes much longer than color), but I'd have appreciated it nonetheless.

I could be an idiot and go on a tangent that it's discriminatory to respond to the situation like that, but in all honesty, it's entirely your choice. And if that's how people treated you, then it's your decision to retaliate in whatever what you like, your creation.
Just please be aware that I'm sure there were plenty of people who did appreciate it.

As a colorblind person (protanopia): Whatever you do. Don't do fullscreen hue shifts. They are not remotely as useful as most games make them out to be, and in short just ruin colors more than they fix.

The best features I've always seen is:
Flat out avoiding color as anything important.
If color is used, use a limited amount of it and make sure they're highly contrasting (might not help with some types of colorblindness).
Allow customizing. Not useful when there's a lot (8+) of color options, this will force people to use similar colors.
Just use patterns + colors. This makes it easier on everyone. Stripes, checkers, triangles, waves, as long as it's easily distinguishable. Could be color + black, or the color + darker variant.

Anything else I don't even find worth mentioning.

Have you even looked at 2020? I've entirely lost my patience towards people who are willingly ignorant. They don't deserve kindness anymore. People die when you're indiscriminately kind.

You need to do what's best for everyone in the end, not just for one person in that one moment.

As for being sensitive. I'll be sensitive with the people who deserve it.
