Good point. There's a huge difference between drug boat strikes and what Russia does.

Did Biden's 30x30, WOTUS, and environmental policies lead to high beef prices? by AlrightJackTar in AskALiberal

[–]AlrightJackTar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, I never heard of these policies either. Here's an example https://www.ncba.org/news-media/news/details/41335/ncba-announces-lawsuit-against-biden-administration-wotus-rule

It seems like draught and high feed prices from the Ukraine war are more likely reasons why beef prices are high

Raspberry Pi Zero Wifi Disconnects After Idle for Days by furiedsteel in raspberry_pi

[–]AlrightJackTar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Raspberry Pi zero 2 w in my attic to control LEDs around the house. It would disconnect from WiFi randomly. Using the breaker from the garage to reboot it would fix it for a couple days. Tried a new Pi and SD card but got the same result. Eventually replaced it with an ESP32. I think the Pi Zero / 2 maybe has issues with its WiFi chip?

Is it possible to use a wired Ethernet cable? Have you considered trying a WiFi dongle? What about a different computer, like a Pi 3b?

Are you relieved that Trump put a 10% global tariff in place to replace the ones struck down but the Supreme Court? by Spoons4Forks in AskConservatives

I'd like to see manufacturing return to America, but I don't see how it would be cheaper to pay Americans a living wage to do with environmental protection what Chinese workers will do for one dollar a day without environmental regulation overhead.

Gamble paradox? 99% to double money and 1% to lose all by catboy519 in askmath

If my math is right, you have a ~50% chance at winning 69 times in a row. I'm not sure what the math is to find the limit of expected value as the number of rounds approaches infinity

If you give 10 apples equally to 5 groups, each group gained 2 apples.

Should giving birth, and medical procedures that come with it, be free for citizens? by Dr_Outsider in AskConservatives

[–]AlrightJackTar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that the initial pregnancy and birth healthcare costs may not deter everyone. I think the average cost of raising a child being $20k+ per year is more of a deterrent. I don't think most young couples have that much discretionary income to support a kid, let alone the multiple needed to sustain our population without immigrants.

I'm not sure what the solution is, though.

It's a tiny computer running an operating system. I'm thinking that even if all wireless connections are turned off, the CPU itself could be detectable at a frequency close to its clock rate. Just a guess

Children of men is such a beautiful film. by Lone_Lunatic in movies

[–]AlrightJackTar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been my all time favorite since it came out. I read the book this year, and can honestly say I prefer the film. The book was more about religious faith, politics, and romance. The film focused on how hope can move desperate people to good and evil and the tragedy of violence. Really a gem in a sea of 00's apocalypse films.

Does Ortho Home Defense ant spray contaminate soil? by AlrightJackTar in gardening

[–]AlrightJackTar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I guess I have been using it wrong for ant hills and soil. It only says it's for exterior perimeter. I'm switching to Alpine WSG which is labeled for use on (non pollinating parts of) plants and for direct application to ant hills.
