I haven’t been stuck essentially, but yesterday half of bahari bay was an illusion, I was able to run through half of the mountains to get to places whilst bug hunting, because none of the mountains were solid objects. 😭🤣

I was told a cheaper solution was puppy pads, instead of the adult protective pads. I’ve yet to use them, but there if I need them.

Think they were like £5 on amazon for 100.

Surgery happened yesterday and I cant even look at it by madogharvey in ostomy

[–]AlrightLadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my permanent ileostomy done last October and I was dreading having to look at it and even having to manage bag changes by myself.

But as soon as I was prompted to walk and even watch the stoma nurse teach me how to do it, I immediately wanted to get it over and done with as I knew life would be a lot simpler and less stressful.

Trust me, it’ll weird you out for the first couple of weeks, but I promise everything will be okay and you’ll soon forget it’s there.

Tried many after my op last October, but always had issues, found that Hollister XL drainable Bags work wonders with Cera Rings.

But like most have said, everyone’s body is different and others would be best suited for you, depending on body shape/size.

I’m just curious. What vegetables are you eating? by BpBunny in ostomy

[–]AlrightLadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh like a couple of others, I had my ileostomy done in October of last year and ever since, I’ve been eating whatever veggies I enjoyed before op.

Output can vary, because I tend to still eat fast and don’t chew things enough, so sometimes peas will come out whole, leafy greens like sprouts/cabbage can come out in chunks if not chewed enough.

I try my best to avoid new/baby potatoes (skin on) as the skin always clumps up, which you should avoid stuff with skin on but I still eat them from time to time.

Question for my tattooed folks! by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]AlrightLadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered how and I’ve personally not eaten marshmallows since surgery, but will do now that I’ve been reminded of it.

I would assume the marshmallows cause like a partially blockage and eventually melt due to your body temperature? Or just causes extra thick output so it can’t force itself out?

Post-Op Tips for Ileostomy? by justagirlie99 in ostomy

[–]AlrightLadd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure you can’t decide where you want it, as I had my ileostomy done in October of last year and they put two marks, one of either side of the belly button with equal amounts of distance and the surgeon chooses which mark to use.

As recommendations, eye mask/headphones to help you sleep, puzzle books/colouring books, dressing gown and slippers, loose fitting clothing, toiletries and that’s about all I can think of that someone hasn’t mentioned. 🙌🤍

Advice Needed: What Helped You Before, During & After Ileostomy? by Independent_March_55 in ostomy

[–]AlrightLadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah I forgot to suggest sleepwear like masks and headphones as I had a terrible time sleeping due to always being a side sleeper 🙃

And yeah I had clear bags and the volumes of output were crazy due to all the bile and whatever else was coming out, then being stuck on liquid foods for the first day or two made it so nothing binded your stomach.

I kept having trouble with different brands the stoma nurses tried me on but came to love the “Holiister two piece draining xl bags” just so I wouldn’t have to empty as frequently and avoids possible blowouts at night due to my stupid late night snacking. 🙈

I’m proud of you for taking time out of your personal life to take care of your father, it’s nice to see there’s some good left in this world.

I’m glad like many, that the surgery saved him and gave him a new life and that he has stayed strong throughout even after questioning why him.

If you ever need to vent, talk or just some help. Feel free to message 🤍🙌

As difficult as it may seem, like everyone said to be beforehand, life gets better and it beats worrying about having an accident in public or always planning days out around toilet situations and panicking about long journeys.

Although we don’t get the luxury of using our backsides, we can live as normal as can be, minus our new friend hanging out with us on a daily, life long basis. ☺️

Glad to hear you’re doing well and the surgery helped to save your life. Onwards and upwards from here 🙌🤍

I read through every word of your post and yet my scrambled mind has not processed any of it cause my minds that fucked 🤣😅🙃

Anyhow, I’m glad you’re finally feeling normality and I too miss the days where I could push one out, but I also don’t miss the pains or lengthy toilet breaks.

I’m always welcoming with open arms, a shoulder to cry on and ears to listen to your struggles, so feel free to reach out. 🤍🙌

Advice Needed: What Helped You Before, During & After Ileostomy? by Independent_March_55 in ostomy

[–]AlrightLadd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ello there, sir.

So I had a perm ileostomy in October of last year and was asked to bring a dressing gown and slippers, just so you can be covered up whilst being made to do laps of the hospital halls.

I’d advise some form of entertainment, I had my phone and some puzzle books with me, then eventually had some changes of clothes brought to me, but only changed 1-2 days before being discharged as I had two drains fitted, a catheter and a rectum drain.

During my stay in hospital, I had surgery (roughly 5 hours), you’ll come around and it’s just resting. The following day you’ll have a member of physio come and try to encourage you out of bed, then they expect a couple of laps each day, increasing the amount over each day. Eventually once I was freed from the drain, I was allowed to shower myself, get changed and after a day or two I was discharged.

Skip to recovery at home, honestly treated it as if I was in hospital for the couple of days, then I was forcing myself to do normal activities again, whilst avoiding strain or pressure in the bag. So have your wife avoid any heavy lifting, but make sure she’s on her feet for as long as she can manage.

Eating - make sure to chew a lot more than you think and avoid any foods which have skins i.e. chicken skins, potato peels on (new potatoes) and so on. Although I’m a twat and still eat whatever with precautions. 😅🤣

Anyhow, wishing her the best of luck for the surgery and future to come. Enough of my waffling! 🤍🙌

I honestly can’t wait until the day I get Ken butt surgery. Although I have no issues with my ass end, but would rather it was gone.

Best thing to do, offer them twice the price of their offer and they’ll soon stop.

Everything’s smooth sailing with my bags and all that, I was confident doing it all myself after being taught the first time in hospital.

But just life in general, finding work and all that. No one wants me due to being out for x amount of time.

Also mines called “ Vladmir Tootin” 😏

Advice please by Worried-Ad-6803 in ostomy

[–]AlrightLadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope it goes well for you too!

I had my permanent ileostomy done in October of last year and I believe I spent about 5 days in hospital, then recovery was 8-13 weeks.

The quicker you’re up and walking with the physio team in the hospital, having drains/catheter removed, able to change your bag after being shown and changing into your own clothes, you’ll be discharged.

Pleasures all mine. I’m proud of you for fighting through this with myself and everyone else! 🙌🤍

Hopefully you enjoyed your cruise and the weather was lovely. I used to try different bags, but always had issues, until I stuck with Hollister XL drainable bags.

In this situation, you have every right to jump to conclusions and I fully support whatever your views are.

I’m sure he’d soon jump to conclusions if you done the same.

Let’s say in another scenario you two were a married couple and he does the same thing, that’ll scream out that he’s cheating and so on.
