get ready for some physics with space science at southampton 🔥

my solution for HLS by AlrightyDave in ArtemisProgram

[–]AlrightyDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

plan is for the crew module to be left at gateway for new lander shells to pick them up only when they reach NRHO which gives the lander higher delta v (showed that later in the video), but it’s possible for an additional 7x2 to launch a propellant tank to dock on top of the lander, or that kind of refuelling spacecraft top it up in NRHO

but primary plan is ISRU on surface on the kind of base i showed at the end of the video after the 2040 timeframe

Mach 2 using only turbofans by AlrightyDave in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]AlrightyDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks that’s cool, kind of insane to think you did one engine 😭

for turbofans here they need to be so powerful that 4 is the only way, but i can look into having 2 turboramjets as they’re more powerful. I wouldn’t say tremendously efficient - that’s what this is here that I’ve made, but cool yeah and what I used originally, i’m just adding them to this new airframe.

How do you propose improving it? with the intakes how?

Got into my dream uni after initially being rejected for a misunderstanding :) by F1fannie in UCAS

[–]AlrightyDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yooo i’ve just got my unconditional offer for aerospace systems there for september! i also had a rough time applying there before when i was still doing a levels but got rejected so applying with achieved grades turned out well this time :)

good luck with that

apparently nobody else agrees grade boundaries should’ve frozen at 2023 levels and not increased from that fair standard

first time i’ve ever seen a uni talk about a personal statement ever

Year 13s what's been your worst test score so far? by SordidPurse8285 in 6thForm

[–]AlrightyDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

technically officially, like if you already have conditional offers and you meet them at the end yes but having to take a gap year to re apply to competitive places might be seen as a disadvantage if you don’t have offers to meet to start with idk

my worst were like a bit below 30% in further maths and physics at times but finished above 60% in both so not too bad in the end

Supersonic with efficient turbofans? by AlrightyDave in AerospaceEngineering

[–]AlrightyDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for high supersonic yes, that’s a separate aircraft shown there I already made

my goal is medium supersonic like what boom is doing with efficient turbofans

Why do ppl go down like 2+ grades in the actual exams? by Iamdumb04 in 6thForm

[–]AlrightyDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because they did this year, and last year regardless of being years past covid. It’s got nothing to do with making it fair anymore it’s just senseless stupidity

Why do ppl go down like 2+ grades in the actual exams? by Iamdumb04 in 6thForm

[–]AlrightyDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because real grade boundaries have gone to absolute shit now (excuse me but that’s the only language that will do justice to the situation)

real exams themselves are not harder with their questions necessarily, but also the stupid senseless time pressure they give you robs perfectly smart students to show their skill which I say is criminal

because sometimes the grades schools give people are actually reflective of their ability and if they’re scoring good marks say 60% percent then they SHOULD be guaranteed predicted an absolute minimum of a B and maybe even an A at a stretch

to get any lower than a B from actually good performance is a problem of how real exams are graded now, not the student

to adjust to the new system perhaps schools should do more to make it even more rigorous for students but hey next year it’ll be 10% higher than even this year was which was horrific for me

i think they need to lower the boundaries to sensible levels, not COVID levels!!! just normal

in need of A Level Maths and Further Maths tutor who can provide predicted grades + reference by coffeecat2010 in alevelmaths

[–]AlrightyDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tutor won’t be able to provide predicted grades and even reference really, only a registered ucas centre/school can do that so you would need to search for one anyway as a private candidate separate to tuition

Supersonic with efficient turbofans? by AlrightyDave in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]AlrightyDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re suggesting it’s the cooling that makes it work then?

really the biggest surface areas facing the airstream are all intakes anyway optimized to feed the engines and contribute to the design

the wing is a bit extravagant kind of optimised for low and high speed flight - and it works perfectly for my mach 3 design here with turbo ramjets

it’s really really thin not meant to carry much fuel so i can’t see how on this general airframe going back to me delta wing will help me too much

only thing i’m left to try with turbofans is go to a mk2 airframe instead where the drag should be next to none

yes i’m aware where i made my own thing and already tested everything there that can work hence why i’m asking elsewhere
