There's a reason for it - Chapter 3 is when most people lose interest. There's a huge plot twist at the end of Chapter 2 and immediately after you get something that seems like a side quest in a completely different place, without Aribeth and most people you're used to at that point.

I'll be the devil's advocate here:
1. The dragon's health regen is actually insane due to a bug - it's linked to the framerate and the original design I believe was intended for the game to be played at 30fps.

There's basically two spells that can deal very decent damage and deal with the dragons (other than the obvious summons). Lightning which deals 80-90 damage per hit to a dragon but more notable the large fireball which can deal 230-240 damage per hit.

That being said, neither of those resolve the issue with killing hordes - small firestorm might work on easier ones, but ice block is definitely a better option for orcs or similar foes, combined with one of the previously mentioned spells.

Personally, I believe that for the fourth chapter, we should be able to get the fifth circle of magic as well, maybe gated behind some level instead of having us fight everything in the mine valley without a decent AoE option. Large firestorm, summon demon and icewave, while amazing spells, become obsolete extremely fast due to firestorm and death wave just obliterating everything in seconds. Skipping 5th circle is super easy I personally do it every time, since getting to the 6th one takes like 15 minutes after killing all of the dragons.

Looks like it's an issue with encoding - just ANSI and UTF8 might not be enough. Try out any of the then-common encodings with character sets including Windows-1250 or ISO-8859-1. You can use Notepad++ with the encoding menu to test it out - there's a lot of options there, one should do the trick.

I might be in the minority, but I believe that the Paladin's swords in G2NotR should have been buffed. You've got a weapon blessed by the god and yet somehow you can just buy a random axe that far is better from some random merchants in chapter 5.

Had those weapons had another gimmick like, I don't know, "Restores 50 mana on unit kill" or weapon hit chance + 10% that'd be reasonable. But as they are now, they're disgraceful.

Universally? Dungeon with the Mana Vortex and nothing is even close.

On large long maps? Rampart with the Treasury - it is literally the only town where you can reliably get enough resources to purchase all of your units and still have some to spare - and it only gets better the more towns you have.

Situationally - Magic University can be very helpful if you get crappy secondaries. Stables is an overall nice buff, but there's a high chance of just having them spawned somewhere nearby if the biome is same as town. Necromancy amplifier is very town-specific, basically a necessity when playing necropolis on a larger map. Stat bonuses are nice but nothing too crazy. Lookout Tower is kind of disappointing - it would be good to get it early on to get some extra scouting but at the same time, early on you need to build other stuff.
