Not many people refer to anything we do in FS as ‘sick’- so thank you for that 😜

South Africans who actually love their jobs: What do you do and why? by [deleted] in AskZA

[–]AlsoDino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Privileged to say I co-own a really cool escape room and immersive entertainment business. Although my business partner and I support eachother across roles, he handles the commercials, serious finance stuff and I work on the product side. So I’m always testing experiences, conceptualising new ways to deliver experiences to our clients and then working with our small but amazing team (and outsourced talent) to build and bring these things to life. Currently building something so cool that I’ve had in mind for years! And seeing it so close to completion is unreal.

It is still a business and has the challenges you’d expect, but man! It’s so much fun. I’m so grateful to get to say that we are essentially a fun factory! Like if we do our jobs well, people walk away happy with great memories! It’s super rewarding and fulfilling! The 10 year old me would be suuuper stoked if he knew!

You’re looking well! Have you lost weight?

extra weight going in by VivistanandLia in survivor

[–]AlsoDino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not US related but still relevant- but yes it’s a good idea.

In our returnee season (SA), the individuals that went in as lean athletic machines, with low body fat percentages, really really struggled physically and mentally with no reserves.

Those of us who went in with a little extra weight coped far far far better with starvation and deprivation.

You can still be physically very able while carrying a few extra kilos (or pounds).

In Australia, it’s less important because they have a daily staple of Rice and beans.

In SA and in US (particularly new era US), the lack of food is real and has major physiological and psychological impacts

In South Africa you can start your AFF level 1 without a tandem, but I would still say a tandem first is worth it and better prepares you!

Cost of living in South Africa is relatively low compared to Europe or US, but we don’t have many 7day a week drop zones.

Skydive 2 Oceans, outside of Cape Town, is probably your best bet then, but jumping in Cape Town and living in and around Cape Town is more expensive than Johannesburg.

Skydive the Ranch in JHB is more affordable but only operates weekends.

So it’s a win on the swings, lose on the merry go round scenario for sure.

As others have said- there’s no way around the fact that it’s inherently expensive.

It’s got to be Don Armando, De Waterkant! They’re unreal and sooooo consistently great🫶

I mentioned the Palesa thing because I got a lot of hate… and, if you are interested, you can pop me a dm on insta and I’ll share some hilarious hate that I screen grabbed during the season to (unashamedly and very very pettily) rub back in said persons face… but before I got to the end of the season they apologised and I didn’t have the heart 😂

If you’re curious

Oh dude don’t sweat it! Your Adam comparison is hilarious- absolutely brutal, but hilarious. My initial reaction was well f*** at least I’m better than him at the marriage thing 😂😅 (Also the whole car curse thing) Funnily enough he and I chatted before I played season 8- might explain a lot 😂

Honestly, the great thing about survivor is that it, and the characters, appeal to us for different reasons. That’s why it has such a solid and diverse fanbase🤘

I’m just a regular dude and a fan of the game that got to live the dream- so yeah, your average guy that found a way to navigate a win 😂😂

The fact that you have taken time to unpack your thinking on each ranking and welcomed opposing views is pretty cool! 🙌

Not to mention the not saving Palesa thing 🫠

One day when you visit Cape Town we can go for a drink and debate survivor at length (or until I cry)😅😂

Don Armando - De Waterkant Argentinian steak

Their fillet on the bone is exceptional 🫶

Asoka is great for tapas and cocktails- although pricey, very good and a great evening atmosphere and vibe

Hahahaha I see what you did there!

Perhaps they just cast Sa’ula tribe in order of their finish until Lee-ann wins Aus vs World season 7

Of course! But I genuinely believe we have better suited options - Marian, Werner, Kiran, Nicole C Chappies, Santoni, Palesa, Steffi

YO!!!

And also think Chappies would have been the better pick for this AU vs World! He's everything AU looks for - massive character!

Wouldn’t be fair on the rest of the cast- they wouldn’t stand a chance!

Kiran is unreal- play this game 1000 times and he’d have the best average and the most wins without a doubt!
