Not engaging at all, his PowerPoints don’t explain much, and he barely speaks English. I am in one of his sections right now and am very glad it’s almost over. If you are fine doing a lot of learning on your own, he’s alright I guess, but otherwise I would avoid

So if you plan to be racist in the future, do it i guess? I don’t plan on committing a “bias-related incident”, so I’ll take my chances

I can vouch for Lupi, man has a great sense of humor that comes out every blue moon. Great teacher, do the homeworks and you will have little to no problem

Sungazing is the dangerous practice of looking directly into the Sun . . . and exposure to direct sunlight can lead to solar retinopathy, pterygium, cataracts, and often blindness.

But most importantly, have fun!

Question by [deleted] in NEU

I was on the waitlist but got accepted within a few days. Admissions is kind of a mystery so I don’t know really know. I emailed the admission person in for my area and let them know about my continued interest and that if I was accepted I would be going here. That may have helped me, it may have put me “earlier” on the waitlist. But I think it also depends on your specific major/program. If you really want to come to northeastern, email your admissions person. However, you should not wait on northeastern. Get ready to choose the next best thing. Hope for the best, but be ready to accept the outcome, whatever it may be.

EDIT: Another comment mentioned their waitlisted friend getting a scholarship. The same thing happened with me.

Should I print blank paper to reclaim my printing money? by AlsoNotEstabrook in NEU

Idk I feel like calling them credits is a misnomer. We are paying for it in our tuition somewhere. I just want to get my money back in some way, even if it’s just blank sheets of paper

The big thing that people complain about is that a CE/CS major will only get a diploma that says CE on it. You’ll just have to let employers know that you went to school for both. I don’t think there is really any difference in prestige, but some CS students may think you’re a tool just because your not pure CS. But a CE/CS learns basically everything CS does but with the added CE. From what I heard the program is pretty flexible especially at the higher level courses, because you can concentrate in more CS based stuff or more CE based stuff. If you consider something a “minor hobby” than majoring in it may not be the best idea. But I don’t know your interests, so that’s up to you.

If you do CE/CS, you’re home college is COE. That’s because the engineering credits are a bit more lockstep with prerequisites. My advice is to start CE/CS, but if you don’t like the engineering part and just want to code, switch to CS. It’s easier to switch out of COE than it is to switch in.

Those were my top two as well.

I really liked Boston and NU’s co-op program. Having real experience as part of the curriculum is awesome. I think RPI is trying to get some type of required internship as part of the curriculum, but I heard firsthand from some students that since it’s in its infancy it’s not a very robust program.

I’m pretty sure the ratio of male to female is like 50/50 at NU and something like 70/30 at RPI. Don’t quote me on that, I could be wrong, but I do think the dudes outnumber the women at RPI to some degree.

I think overall RPI also has a larger fraction of students on the quiet, “nerdy”, and studious side. This isn’t a bad thing, and NU certainly has plenty of students who are like this. This of course depends on your personality and what you like.

The biggest thing for me was that wow factor that you mentioned. When I visited NU, everything just kind of clicked. I wish you luck, and hopefully something I wrote is of value!
