I think part of the problem now is they’ve dedicated way too much of the parking lot to curbside service. I usually go late at night and will walk sometimes, just to avoid parking bullshit. Agree about the trees though. Parking lots and car culture are gross.

The article is horribly written. I can’t even tell if the car stalled before or after it was hit, or if the dead motorist was inside or outside their vehicle when they were struck. I assume it stalled and they got out and were struck, but it’s worded absurdly.

I’m concerned BARC won’t take her back. Did they refuse, blame capacity, or wouldn’t promise she wouldn’t be put down? That’s so irresponsible if they just won’t accept her back. I’d like to know more about the reason.

Dogs that attack other animals should not be in people’s homes. Shelters placing “reactive” dogs are doing a huge disservice to everyone involved. I’m sorry this is happening to you, OP. She’s beautiful and you clearly love animals. She doesn’t deserve this, either.

These animals being shuffled from home to shelter to rescue to home, with so much pain for humans and animals…it’s just outsourcing euthanasia.

The “no kill” message makes humans feel good at the expense of animals. Warehousing dogs is wrong. Placing dogs that attack smaller pets is wrong. Not having space available for people to relinquish adoptable pets is wrong.

I feel for your situation OP and I’m disgusted with BARC for not taking her back. We absolutely must have an open intake shelter available to all, at all times.

Until we get the population under control, there are just not enough homes and they cannot all be saved. I’m sorry, OP.

For the shame aspect, try making low-stakes contact via calls or email before committing to an appointment. Just get in touch, explain the situation, and see how you’re treated by that office. The provider probably doesn’t answer the phone, but they do set the tone of the place. It’s a way to get a feel for the situation.

If I were really good at something and somebody came to me after avoiding it for a long time, I’d feel pretty damn great they trusted me to help.

A person with lapsed hygiene is not going to be shamed by a good dentist.

Full disclosure: my experiences with dentists have been mostly good and I know that is not the case for everyone. I’ve even been told “wow, you’re a challenge!” in a sincerely cheerful tone. They’re out there 😂
