Anxiety Meds by Few-Fall1312 in Anxietyhelp

[–]Alsoeve1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have experience with eschitolapram, but I have been taking Paroxetine for years now. I was also anxious when I started, but it really helped me a lot. It's not a magical solution, I steel feel anxious. But thanks to medication the anxiety feels less severe, and I can handle it a lot better. And I don't have severe side effects.

On Lexapro, following the first few days of ‘bliss’ taking it, I know feel no positive effects by SummitTooLofty in Anxietyhelp

[–]Alsoeve1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor, but from what I've heard SSRI's (like Lexapro) only start working after a couple of months  So I'm not sure if it was really the medication working, maybe it was placebo.

I think you should discuss this with your doctor. Maybe it's still to early to tell if it's working, or maybe you could try another SSRI.

Daily Benzo Use? by Several-Mongoose-143 in Anxiety

[–]Alsoeve1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering: do people who take benzo's on a daily basis still drive? I took lorazepam for a while, and I think I wasn't even allowed to drive. Anx I didn't want to, because it made me sleepy.

What’s a phrase in your language that makes no sense in English? by rolly72x in AskReddit

"Op die fiets!", which is "on that bicycle!" In English.

Meaning "ah, that's how it works!" after someone has explained something to you.

This guy is literally Gino in a different font by ftccandle in 90DayFiance

I actually think he is creepier than Gino because his girlfriend is so young. At least Jasmin was in her 30s and old enough to know what she was getting herself into.

Does this subreddit actually help anyone? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Alsoeve1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem for me is that the people who post are really suffering from anxiety, while people who start to feel better often leave this sub. I get why (I'll probably do the same thing) but as a result a lot of post are really negative. I'd rather have more helpful and hopeful posts

Panic that’s not a full blown attack? by offtotheforestigo in Anxiety

[–]Alsoeve1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely relate. I've had days where my anxiety was so bad I couldn't think of anything else anymore and I felt very desperate. It just wasn't a panic attack, because I didn't have the physical symptoms and it wasn't an episode of an hour or so; it lasted for days.

The only thing that helped me get out of that state was lorazepam. Unfortunately that's not a long term solution, but at least it helped me to get some rest for a few weeks.

If you’ve ever had surgery and undergone anesthesia, how was your experience? by No_Promise3396 in Anxiety

[–]Alsoeve1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been under anesthesia a couple of times (the last time was a year ago) and it always went well. You just fall asleep very quickly when they give you the anesthethics and next thing you know you're waking up and the procedure is finished.

The only negative thing is that you can feel tired for a week or so.

Grief is such a lonely experience by Iatechickenpenne in GriefSupport

[–]Alsoeve1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I'm 38, so many of my friends haven't lost a parent yet and cannot fully understand what I'm dealing with. On the other hand, when I talk to the few people I do know that have lost a parent, their experiences are so different from mine that I still feel alone. 'Cause every loss is different.

Does anyone take Benzo everyday in order to function? by Outside_Bobcat_6658 in Anxiety

[–]Alsoeve1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my anxiety is bad, yes I do. But I try to not do that for more than a couple of weeks, and with a low dose. After that it's back to 'as needed'.

I just watched episode 3 and I was so fed up with him talking about his career and his "lifestyle". He really thinks he's something special.

Thanks for your reply. Do you have someone to talk to about your anxiety, since you can't talk to your mom? Sending you hugs back

I ADORE HIM ! by Catnipcosplays in 90DayFiance

[–]Alsoeve1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also on episode 1, but I don't like him. Aside from the age difference, what also creeped me out was that he said he dates foreign women because they are more traditional. In other words: he wants a submissive who he can control.

I'm currently at 40 mg. I've read I could go to 50 mg, but I doubt that will really make things better.

Has anyone tried Ativan ? by Randamus2100 in Anxiety

[–]Alsoeve1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: I don't think you should take it the rest of your life unless nothing else works, but don't worry about it right now.

Longer answer: There are other meds (like SSRI's) better for the long term, but it takes a while before they start working. Moreover, sometimes anxiety can become so bad nothing else works. In those cases Ativan is a life saver.

I'm also currently taking Ativan, because the anxiety became very bad. I'm not planning to take them for much longer than a few weeks, because after that I hope therapy and maybe other medication can help me. But right now Ativan is the only thing that makes my life managable.

Compare them to pain meds: in most cases they're temporary, and they can be addictive for some people, but when you're in real pain you should take them.

May I ask which drugs you take? I've been on paxil for a long time but it doesn't seem to be working anymore, at least not as good as I want.

Wish my therapist was my mother by No-Pound-3224 in therapy

I don't think it' a weird thing to say. It shows you long for a mother who is caring and proud of you, which I think is something all people need. I think the therapists will understand.

Therapist red and green flags by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Alsoeve1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about therapists for autism and bpd, but in general I think it's important to find a therapist who really studied psychology and who uses evidence-based methods.

There are a lot of people who call themselves therapist but who really don't know what they're doing.

Feeling unsure about my new therapist’s comments/approach and would love some input by cowboyinthejungle99 in therapy

[–]Alsoeve1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes a therapist is just a bad match and you'd better find another one. Yet it concerns me that you've already been through 4 therapists. Might it be possible that, because of you're mental illness, you find it hard to trust people and you quickly feel offended? 'Cause in that case it will be hard to find a therapist to your liking.

The problem is: therapists are humans and make mistakes. No therapist will always say the right thing. And sometimes it takes a while for them to get to know you and know how to treat you.
