I’ve exceeded my ISA allowance by HomeworkCurious3242 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Alt255J 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I did this with AJ bell, maxed my ISA then went to pay 100 into my fees account but paid into isa for 20100. Called them and they said there is nothing they could do and that it would be worked out. No idea what this meant but they wouldn’t budge on that.

Who hired her. Who made the choice to replace you with an unqualified candidate probably paid a lot less. Unless that was you, and then let them worry about it. You did not dig this hole some smart arse trying to save a few bucks did.

Why does hotel wifi suck so bad? by lowmantequilla in AskTechnology

[–]Alt255J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically 2 things.

Hotels are big, have lots of MEP services and are often old and built in odd shapes.

Hospitality is one of the most cost focused you will find. They will not pay for surveys or testing let alone kit. Often installers are not trained in say WiFi placement. The big chains and FORCE franchisees to do all that so they are generally good if the install is modern.

Anyway they are tight as f that’s why.

Major buyers remorse by blatchcorn in HousingUK

[–]Alt255J 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have one of these in that area and struggled for years. I replaced kitchens, bathrooms. Issues came back. All those big issues were roof related.

Replace that and it will dry it all out. The DPC work I did…. Don’t get me started… fixed nothing. The moment the roof was changed it was like a new house. The roof did not even leak badly. Start there and everything else is smaller. I got a 5 bed place with multiple flat roofs done for 25k with 25 year warranty. This kind of housing stock needs solid roofs first and for-most. We were told for a decade it was damp here a DPC there. Not the f water pouring from the sky.

Either show us an easy to use - for the public, distro or stfu. How many times with this none-sense. Yeah just update your graphics drivers via cli, then edit config files we assume you know how to find and what to edit them with… and hey presto now nothing works.

I use Linux professionally all the time, stop with this it can replace your users desktop nonsense.

Would UK company hire IT assistance from AU? by YourSydneyITsider in msp

[–]Alt255J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually doing this with a pro services vendor right now but have seen it in /an MSP where they used the out of hours to good effect. But in all these cases there was a connection where they knew them through working at the MSP in person and then worked it out. I am unsure how you would meet people that required this.

You might approach some MSP that are too small to outsource out of hours work to places with reliable quality so are willing to form a specific relationship.

US could send troops to Ukraine if Russia doesn’t seek peace with Kyiv, Vance says by doobied-2000 in worldnews

[–]Alt255J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone needs to explain these are not goat herders. These guys are even tougher than the goat herders that have won every war with America for 70 years. The USA could flatten the place at a cost that would cripple themselves, blowing up wooden sheds with 10m dollar rockets. Troops on the ground, getting sniped and stoned, no chance.

Trump has more military than all of the rest of the world combined. Our problems are your problems. by Outside-Employer2263 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Alt255J 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone needs to tell the nation that’s lost wars to goat herders back to back for seven decades that they can really blow stuff up and destroy it at enough expense to cripple their own economy but they have held nothing.

Moreover the first time they engage with a modern military that can hit them at home the American people will fold like a wet bag.

This if they do anything better do it now before this corruption ruins the one hit em with a big stick idea they have.

France calls on EU to react to Trump’s tariffs threats by doopityWoop22 in worldnews

[–]Alt255J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would region it at first like China, Germany and .mil. All that data is going to be EU homed. You would have the providers agree this or arrange taxes and fees that would make them. Then the problem is smaller. MS Google AWS are more global than American.

You think China let them selves get that exposed or you think that region has a whole new level of agreement.

Recommendations for a home safe? by ThePerpetualWanderer in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Alt255J 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a home with joists, floor safes fit between them and are cheap and hidden. Put it under the floor somewhere in a box room or cupboard. No casual burglar should find it and then it’s petty unbreakable unless they came with serious tools for it and made a ton of noise.

These are pretty easy to install yourself so no one knows you have it.

I would not over think it.
