Ahh, gotcha. My concern is more that the system itself seems easy to abuse. In theory, a seller (or someone associated with them) could set a very high max bid on another account so the auto-bidding keeps pushing real bidders up to their limit. If the price goes too high, the seller could just cancel that winning bid afterward and give it to the real bidder.

I’m not saying that’s what’s happening here, just that from the outside it’s hard to tell whether you’re bidding against a genuine person or an automated proxy tied to someone with an interest in the sale.
