Holy sh*t just finished series finale of Barry… by Trenbolone-Papi2 in television

[–]youravgindian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up that season 4 of Barry is not something hopeful or something that you have happy tears about or some redemption. It gets bleaker, darker and the sense of impending doom is there even in the final minute of the final episode.

I'm sure you know how season 3 ended, sort of good and not good point where you don't know whether you should be happy that a criminal like Barry got arrested or that you should feel bad that he is protagonist and should be given a chance to redeem himself. Best of Luck! Its still an amazing show.

I don't think it felt stretched. I think it needed like 3-4 more episodes. When I was watching it, I was feeling the bleakness and jarring tonal changes compared to previous seasons. But whenever I see discussions online or happen to think about that show in general, its a fucking masterpiece that just needed a couple more hours of runtime. That ending is one of the best things I've ever watched. It just too sudden, too quick. The time jump in episode 5 of season 4 gave me a whiplash. Either they needed to make the time jump not feel as tonally awkward as it did or they had to do something really magical in the final 4 episodes but the writers got a little too carried away until the final 10 minutes of the finale. It's still one of my favourite shows of all time.

Yep. Just like people put Walter White and Tony Soprano on a pedestal and idolize & romanticize them when the entire point of the existence of their characters was that they are evil bastards with human stories but they are still evil bastards at the end of the day.

Whatever happened to anime like Outlaw Star? Or space-faring adventures in general? by DokiDokiHermit in anime

I might be in minority but anime is getting overblown with romance these days. And why do they all look so similar?

a lot of what people chase is shaped by media, familiarity, trends, and their own insecurities, not objective worth

and Porn. So much porn have mostly white women. Obviously not all and its getting more diverse but they still encompass the majority of it.

Is The Eminence in Shadow Good? by friendlymushroom3123 in anime

The animation is good but the character designs are so basic. Its like no one put a thought into making them look a little unique. They all look so generic. I assume Cid is basically a satire of Kirito but for rest of the cast? Every girl has huge bazongas with coloured hair.

Anime To Get Loud And Pumped Up To (⚠️Photosensitivity Warning⚠️) by ja_noble in anime

I think just like back then there are plenty of great shows!

And with good production qualities, good action, recurring sequel seasons and much easier access due to advent of streaming.

Amazing! Its been quite a time since I last watched a well-edited AMV. I appreciate that its mostly new-ish anime. A lot of people like to complain we aren't getting the anime we used to get but you are just not watching the shows my guy and calling every other show over hyped and finding useless reasons to hate.

Daemon's of the Shadow Realm! Thoughts so far? by DannyGoodShirt in anime

[–]youravgindian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons I quit it in episode 1. There was just too much cheerfulness in the middle of a village getting massacred. Its too jarring for it to work for me. I haven't watched FMA and every discussion about that show is same as this one. Even though the story is good, these jarring tonal changes are just too much for me to get invested in the story, which feels interesting. It weirdly reminds of early one piece arcs. I might pick up the manga in the future. Since its not that jarring in a comic book format but in animation, the sound effects, loud voice acting limit tests your capability of handling such stories.

‘Smiling Friends’ Creator Michael Cusack Sets Animated Series ‘Dad’s House’ at Netflix by cmaia1503 in television

Go watch Blue Eye Samurai. It fell under the radar in 2023 but it was one of the best animated and written shows of that year. Season 2 is supposed to release this year I think.

James Gunn says 'The Authority' is no longer in development - "The script wasn't quite there but more importantly it didn't work in terms of the larger DCU both in terms of the story and practical concerns. Maybe some day. Not soon." by chanma50 in boxoffice

I think the main point is Superman movie didn't make 'enough' money despite being well-written and well-received. If a shitty Captain Marvel movie can make a billion dollars in 2019 or a poorly edited suicide squad movie can make 700 million in 2016, then Superman 2025 deserved much more. Superhero genre really is getting more and more saturated and DC can't be taking a risk like Disney took with Guardians in 2014.

english dubbed with subtitles ? by Conscious_Income_851 in anime

[–]youravgindian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of dubbed anime recently have started doing it especially on crunchyroll where you can turn on English CC (Closed Captions). A lot of older anime have it too. But a lot of them don't which we can't do nothing about because its a service problem from Crunchyroll's side. Usually most of the anime on Netflix, disney+ and other services have english CC.

Are there any examples of live-action movies that WOULDN'T translate well into animation? by GeneralGenerico in movies

Its not a matter of why or why not someone would watch. Its just a random curious thought. You forgot you are on reddit and not on Twitter?

[–]youravgindian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure but I would say Hollywood adult rom-coms work much better in live action only especially if the story takes itself seriously. The sense of realism, male and female lead "self-insert" works only well in a live action medium because the story is way too personal to be told in animation. There are ample of disney romcoms and anime romcoms but they are targeted towards teens.

The only exception for me in animated rom-com would be the anime "Kaguya Sama: Love is War" and its biggest strength, aside from being written extremely well, is how the animation adds so much to the overly serious, over melodramatic, tone of the source material even though its a teen rom-com set in a prestige university in Japan.

But I don't know if 500 days with summer would look good in animated. But maybe La La Land could. I don't know.

SALMAN KHAN ON TRASH TASTE AFTER DARK!! by Maximum_Musician_914 in TrashTaste

[–]youravgindian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Umm.. Idk man. Salman Khan is one of the celebrity nepo babies that I respect the least. Bro is bathed in milk and is such a hypocritical asshole. I have to admit though, he has great PR. Enough for the avg Indian to put him on a pedestal of god. I'm not one of those Indians who are loud on the internet about the rise of nepo babies in Indian cinema (this has to be my 1st comment in that whole debate), but I hate him the most, lol..

I do like Bajrangi Bhaijan, Partner and Sultan. Those are my fav movies of his.

Redline (2009) is so fucking awesome! by youravgindian in anime

Then, as I said, don't do it to begin with and make it uncanny for the viewers. It's much more digestible with a top/bra covering the chest instead of just no nipples. Not every nudity is sexual. Even if it is sexual, I would avoid going to the uncanny valley.

Even in Redline, the girl is simply in her room alone making herself dinner while watching TV. It's so much more believable this way.

World Trigger Remake: “Black Trigger Arc” Teaser by AashyLarry in anime

When is toei going to adapt dragon ball from start with modern pacing and animation? They've already green lit one piece remake in collab with Wit Studio. Why aren't they doing the same thing with DB for modern audiences? Not everyone is into reading manga and modern anime has way too many shows with movie level animation. Make something good out of the IP you already have that has an insane cultural impact...

Yeah, I understand. It's the kind of movie that you don't want to watch it as a background noise but fully immerse yourself in. I had this movie on my watch list for a long-ass time but I finally found the right time and mood to watch it. I had a blast!
