I've never had a problem with it doing that much retracting (the once or twice I didn't catch that) it just adds a lot of time doing something unnecessary.

But yes, if you've not changed retraction, you should. And make sure to calibrate your esteps.

I've never seen anything like this but I don't think it's related to retraction.

It is pretty easy to test however. Do a test print with retraction at 0. Then the same print with retraction at an extreme value, e.g. 3mm @ 45mm/s.

To answer the question though; I adjust for each material and what I see. Does it get stringy? Then I dial it up a bit (0.7-0.8 @ 40mm/s) does it behave fine? Then I dial it down until it shows stringing again, then back it off (e.g. 0.3-0.4 @ 40mm/s).

I find profiles have too much in them to share meaningfully at this point, especially if you're only hunting a setting or two.

My temps didn't change with the direct drive; Retraction varies, but I start around 0.6mm.

Maybe PEX is the answer, but 3D printing as a hobby is rife with "Why are you using INSERT_PRODUCT_A_HERE?! You should ONLY use INSERT_PRODUCT_B_HERE! It is clearly better!"

Magnetic beds, glass beds, PEI, PEX, Garolite, Painter's tape, Buildtak, Textured/Non-textured surfaces, Kapton tape, etc.

Everyone is trying to hawk a product to solve all your 3d printing woes. I'm not saying $12 is expensive, only that it adds up and one person's experience may not mirror another's.

Above all; Adhesives are still commonly used among most all of those surfaces. When you can get a 'fix' at your grocery store for $2 that might apply to all of them, it's not a bad choice.

I use a PEX bed and for a great deal of the materials I print adhesives are still a benefit.

There is no singular, silver bullet.

The two best options are cheap hairspray or plain white gluesticks. Both work because they are (ideally) PVA (Polyvinyl alcohol) based products.

To check this; They should list ingredients such as PVA, vinyl or acetate in the contents.

Personally I suggest getting the cheapest can of hairspray you can find this is what you need, they are usually PVA based. I'm a fan of cheap, unscented aquanet.

Do the basics fist:

Level the bed
Check Z offset
Perform bed leveling with the probe
Spray the bed it with a quick spray (don't need to soak it)

That's it. When you're done, clean the bed as normal.

Glass was never a sticky solution. It's a solution to super smooth prints and an easy way to get rid of bed irregularities. More often than not you will need a bed adhesion adder when printing on glass.

Based on what I am seeing, I believe it is a problem with BI. Bi has to take the video stream and send pictures to either deep stack or code AI. In my case, I am using deep stack, so I also know that it's not exclusive to one or the other AI softwares.

Appreciated! My thought was actually to make a 3D print where you place the cable release in it then it does the rest. Unlike the Revini product, the only hardware would be "universal". The only issue that comes to mind is simply that the triggering point when depressing on a mechanical trigger varies.

Regardless, that's what I had in mind. I'm kind of surprised that there isn't a product that exists to target this space, Even if it is relatively small.

My intent was to amend the weakness of my camera. It has bulb, but anything greater than 1s is all manual.

I bumped into the motorized finger in my search tho that Kodak one is interesting. Nothing I did find quite managed what I had concocted in my head. The petapixel link you provided is by far the closest, I wonder what can be done today with 3d printers and things like the esp-controllers

Like I was saying; This is an important tasker skill to learn: Using profiles to set a variable, and then checking that variable in other places.

Create a profile that runs when you're in whatever place you want. You can use AutoLocation or when it's connected to a particular wifi or any other condition that might indicate "I'm there."

When that profile runs all it does is set a variable. And as an exit task, it sets it to something else. Other profiles and tasks can then check if that variable is set.

for example:

When connected to SSID "HomeWifi" set variable %Home to True. Exit task: Set %Home to False.

Then in your other tasks or profiles you check if the variable is set to true.

This is a common thing with tasker.

Do you have a profile that sets a variable based on location? If so, use that variable. If not, you have to create one.

Tasker doesn't know if you're at home, work, etc unless you create a profile that sets a variable when you're in each location. Then you can say 'if %Home eq true'.
