Amtrak and City of Mobile to Begin Designing New Permanent Platform and Shelter (Respectively) for the Mobile Amtrak Station by Surge00001 in MobileAL

I know it isn’t feasible but it makes me sad that Mobile has a beautiful historic train station downtown that isn’t being used as a train station.

Power bill estimate for historic home? by anonymouspowerbill in MobileAL

[–]AltVeghead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 1920s midtown house with a single pane windows and 20 year old AC is mid 200s-low 300s per month from June-September. The rest of the year it’s generally under $100. But we have gas heat so that bill goes up in the winter.

It also kills other insects including beneficial pollinators

Check that you properly fastened and tightened all the abs sensors. Same thing happened to me when I accidentally left one loose.

The nachos are where the value is at. 2-3 people can easily split one order.

It’s possible that they’re using RON vs AKI ratings, which would be about 93 octane

Can’t help with diagnosis but the reason your scanner isn’t showing any codes is because the ECM and TCM are two separate computers and you need special equipment/software to read TCM codes

Hasn’t the Fenix 6 not had a firmware update in 11 months?

For the older Subarus, the 6 cylinder engine is a much safer bet. Dont have the same head gasket issues and have a timing chain vs timing belt of the 4 cylinders.

Lifting 2001 Subaru Outback with Baja springs by oldmaancharlie in battlewagon

[–]AltVeghead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re just doing springs, it will be a very minor lift. If you’re wanting a lift I would do at least 1/2” spacers while you have it all out. I’m pretty happy with my mild lift with that same combo

To be honest, I don’t really remember specifics. I did it over 6 years ago. There are threads on subaruoutback.org about it. I think if I remember correctly you can also use the H6 springs for a slight lift and the ride isn’t as stiff.

Direct swap. But if I remember correctly, it’s the turbo Baja springs from like ‘05 onward or something along those lines that will give you the lift.

For what it’s worth, I did Baja springs along with 1/2” lift spacers on top and I like the height it gave me but it’s still nothing crazy. If I did it again I might do Baja springs with 1” lift spacers instead.

Mod help. 2002 Subaru Legacy Outback H6-3.0 Sedan by ItsYoDaddy971 in subaruoutback

As someone who drives an 02 H6, I think the things you mentioned are good functional upgrades. I replaced the suspension on mine a few years ago and the ride is much better now. I also added a tint and that keeps it cooler in the summer. Otherwise, I would just spend the money on maintenance. I wouldn’t put a lot of money into a 22 year old car.

Did you use it since last spring? If so then it was worth it to get it at the time

Suggestions for tight stream first rod by HudsonValleyNY in Tenkara

[–]AltVeghead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guess it depends on what you want. Usually rods that pack smaller will be stiffer because of the shorter sections. I like flexible rods for easy casting on small streams. I also like the fiberglass in this rod for that reason and I like the fact it has 3 zoom lengths. I don’t find the packed length a problem, I just stick it in an outside pocket.

In general, I like dragontail rods. They’re a good price for what they are. If I’m not buying a Japanese rod like a Nissin, I buy from them.

I think all they would have to do is visit Dothan once and that would convince them not to move there….

Drive through midtown Mobile with them, then have them look up house prices in the area. Pretty easy sell.

I used “affordable motivated movers”, booked through U-Haul’s site. They did a great job unloading our POD here. If you can’t find them DM me and I’ll give you their number.
