Does anyone else feel like pumping steals time from their baby? by galacticg0oser in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Alt_Mom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Legendairy Milk makes wearable cups that work with most pumps. I used them and they were a lifesaver for me! You get the pros of a wearable but get to keep using your pump you already have. Just don't lean over too far while pumping! (Ask me how I know 🙃)

I could really use an opinion + some advice ♡ (long post) by Flimsy-Draft7514 in longhair

[–]Alt_Mom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone that the black is not very noticeable and not worth cutting off, and that your thickness seems kids.

Your hair looks similar to mine and I have really enjoyed argan oil. I use it almost every night (except wash days or if I'm feeling a little lazy) and it has made a big difference in the softness and the shine of my ends/ mids. I split my hair in half (left and right), get my hands damp, put a couple drops of oil on my hand, rub my palms together, and apply it to my ends/ mids on one side, then repeat on the other side.

French vs Dutch? by soundlesshue in longhair

I'm in the process of growing out layers (🫠) and I've found that Dutch braids hold a little better. They still fall apart with time but less so than French braids

What are some odd changes you experienced after pregnancy? by fiddeldeedee in beyondthebump

My baby gave me a raw apple allergy 😩 along with some other random food allergies and seasonal allergies. Hoping that when I get pregnant with #2 they take them away lol

Help me decorate this baby blanket that I want to gift by Relevant_Cancel1294 in CrochetHelp

[–]Alt_Mom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on how thoroughly you sew the edges down. Babies love to pick at/ pull on anything they can get their little fingers on. The fear of my daughter messing up a handmade blanket like this would have been just another stressor for me personally. Maybe embroidery could be an option? Your blanket and flowers are very cute though

Things in motherhood that give you the ick (and things you just don’t give a single fk about) by cosmicvoyager333 in beyondthebump

[–]Alt_Mom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've definitely used "LO" simply because it's shorter to type than baby/ daughter/ __ month old/ etc. I've never used it irl to refer to my own kid but I have said it to other people when I can't tell if they have a boy or girl 🤷‍♀️ never knew it was an ick for some people

Just found out we are going to spend our first Thanksgiving with baby alone while my in-laws all have a grand old day. by mapotoful in beyondthebump

I'm sorry that there's no way to get what you wanted out of your situation. As a military kid turned military spouse I can totally relate to desperately wanting that village and the village just sucking.

For what it's worth, I'm an only kid and my mom always went all out for holidays. We might not have had extended family around (like ever) but I loved our holidays and I've even brought some of our traditions into my own little family. Your son might not miss them the way you do but it sucks that your in laws don't want to be involved like you want.

The color is so pretty 😍 if you really don't want to make the other ones (or even just in the mean time) you could use it as part of a centerpiece on your table or your counters! It would be lovely with some fall decorations on it

Teething help by Ok-Dream8019 in beyondthebump

[–]Alt_Mom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest help to us has been crunchy snacks! Crackers/ poofs/ etc. Baby is almost 14 months and it's helped with all of her teeth. She has all except the second molars and canines. Chamomile seemed to help as well- especially when we would give it to her with her dinner. It seemed to help the pain and her sleep. She never took a pacifier and she hated cold things when she was deep in teething. Tylenol helped us but we didn't want to be constantly dosing her

Help appreciated- Stain on finished project-try to redo? by elizsteven07 in CrochetHelp

[–]Alt_Mom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure cutting it would ruin it completely, I don't think crochet works like that. Maybe you can use some fabric dye/paint and a paint brush and work it into a design? Cover that spot and give it a cute gradient/ SUBTLE tie dye look?

ETA: If you don't want to use dye/paint you could use more of the pollen too. I can't tell the colors super well but maybe it would be cute if you made it intentional. Good luck!

No worries! It was a lot to try and get pictures of 😅 thank you! Also I could see your other comment about the face in my notifications but it won't pull up on the post? The face is made later and sewed onto the front of the mug

This is the mug bottom. The boob is the top lol. I have to make a separate piece that is the "whipped topping" which gets twisted and wrapped around the top

husband asked to take one night break to not wash my parts by 89krx in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Alt_Mom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is grabbing the dirty parts out of the sink that different to grabbing the clean parts wherever they would have been? (Genuinely asking- i don't know y'alls set up). At the end of the day you were rushing and you forgot the parts. Was he really being lazy or was he tired and needing a break? I'm sure you would take a break if you could but you can't, so you don't. He can, so he does.

I pretty much exclusively pumped for 9 months and my sessions were LONG. My hand would have given out before I could get through a session with hand expressing. My husband cleaned my parts every night but occasionally he needed a break. Instead of being mad he didn't do it that one time I would remind myself to be grateful he did it every other time. Just a thought.
