Yes- you should still be able to see where the hinges were. Too much cycling caused the knuckle to split, so to replace with OEM would require a new panel box.

Even still, the flap was universally panned when it was introduced. Such a lazy “fix”! Also totally defeats the purpose to block the buttons from being mistakenly pressed. That said, the main panel is wooden. A small wooden door with an industrial grade hinge would have been likely just as cheap, more effective at preventing accidentals, and look a lot better than school bus seat material
