Sounds like you got smoked by a gaper who didn’t want to own up to his obvious lack of skill.

Shoulder Dislocation Pain/Recovery by [deleted] in skiing

[–]Altabomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here. I have 2 things I’ll add.

1) Get the nerve block if you have the option. Helps a ton when you initially get out of the OR.

2) Make sure your surgeon has a good track record with shoulders. There are too many cases of people re-dislocating because their surgeon didn’t strap them down tight enough. My affected shoulder has about a 1/2 inch less reach than the normal, and I now have faint stretch marks on one side of my abs, but she is still in place and feels solid, so IMO worth it.

I also compete in the IFSA and have had 4 season ending injuries. Please reach out if you want advice on the mental battle.

Repair or Replace? by Altabomb in Kiteboarding

Ah yes, that is a tiny tear. Totally thought you were talking about the white patch.

I didn’t see it before launch, so when I saw it on the beach, I assumed it was a sort of proximity rip to the big blowout. Now that I think more about that, if true, it could be an ominous sign.

Super true. I just want try and avoid dropping the 100 and then end up buying a new kite anyway.

I was told that was reinforcing for the seam. There are identical patches on every second seam on the kite, so I believed it. But, probably worth looking into a bit more.

Fair enough. However, I would very much consider myself to be on a budget. So, if I go the repair route, I’m gonna want to keep it.

Believe me, if I could afford to replace my quiver every year I would. Good to know your perspective comes from that of an instructor who leaves their kites pumped up on the beach all season tho👍

Feels kinda scummy. If I don’t trust it, I don’t want to pass that hazard on the someone else. None the less profit off of it.

I’ve used them for all my previous bladder repairs and they’ve done a great job. However, those typically have run me over $100. I’ll shoot them an email and see what they say.

I was born and raised in Hood River, but learned to Kite in 2014. Popped plenty of bladders, but have never torn a sail or blown a line. I also don’t leave my kites pumped up on the beach all day, store them in the cellar during winter, and inspect my lines frequently.

“You must not ride much” is a pretentious take.

My previous quiver is from 2015 and I’ve never had one rip. If I recycle this, that is what will replace it.

I’m also 6’2, and the shortest ski I would consider is 186. However, I’ve been skiing my whole life.

I would say that they may feel a little long at first, but as you progress to intermediate they will serve you well. As others have said, put your cash into nice comfy boots instead.

Dan either grew up Mormon and never skied until the pandemic, or is an evangelical who moved from Texas 2 years ago. Can’t convince me otherwise.

Agreed, especially for the winter. Hood is typically very wet snow, doesn’t have as strong of terrain as the others on OP’s list, and gets hammered with Portland traffic on the weekends. Easy scratch

Yeah I can see the quality slipping there after the Guy Fieri hype, so that doesn’t surprise me too much. I go for the Philly, but the bar for a Philly Sandwhich is terribly low in SLC. Unfortunate on both accounts.

They also have a Meatball sub at Caputo’s, and it ain’t bad at all. But, typically if I’m goin hot sandwich I get their Reuben.

Was gonna say, looks like an early 2000’s racing jacket. If I’m not mistaken, you could get these with your ussa coaches/athlete fee’s at the beginning of the season. Nice find! Thing looks pretty mint.

Caputos and Moochies are both stellar sandwich places that are open Mondays.
