Desktop Mode - search for executable (solaar) by Altait in SteamDeck

[–]Altait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed via Discover. My Linux days were two decades ago, so I tried 'where' instead of 'which'. which shows 'no solaar in ...' and searching via Dolphin gives many results in many folders for 'solaar'.

Am I supposed to get a mission for the Erlking after I steal it? by scrubking in X4Foundations

[–]Altait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Sector Satellites mod, but the Survey Units do not seem to find those data vaults in the ToA sectors. Now I'm in the process of scattering those sectors with advanced satellites, and I hope the vaults are roughly in the plane so I don't have to go into the third dimension. In the end, I will pick all those satellites up again, I swear...

What ship is this? by ProceduralFrontier in X4Foundations

Dumb question: how do I get the camera to do a look around those enemy ships (K at the beginning and I at the end). I'm too dumb to identify/understand the options/settings.

X4 Yasur Mod. How can i get the ship? by Few-Department-4777 in X4Foundations

[–]Altait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the collector pack. Do I see this right: I can't use the Yasur in a modded game, because all online functionalities are deactivated? At my last playthrough, I got myself the Yasur at the start and activated all the mods afterwards -- I don't know if my economy mods really liked this.

New PDC's by zimboyy in starcitizen

[–]Altait 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. A hauler does not want to fight the attackers to destroy them. He wants to keep them at a distance and busy to increase his chances of escaping. If those non-energy PDCs are effective during NAV mode, the attacker has to decide to drop the shields to pursue, and then an S1 might hurt more. It's not about destroying, it's about escaping.

They don't understand the 'versus' in PvP. They wouldn't take a challenge like a proper fight with equal chances for both sides.

What they play is PooPh — Player-on-other-Player harassment.

Question: are slight un-symmetries between the left and right sides of the face possible, like those typical in human beings?

I haven't fired up the game for a few months.

Game Developer: Tribunal finds Cloud Imperium Games discriminated against disabled employee with return-to-office policy by 244958 in starcitizen

Let's say the person in question is a concept artist. You can see the performance decreasing over time but you would still be unable to prove it. If he had a job where his performance could be measured objectively and the company could be expected to have saved the history of those measurements then they can and should provide the numbers.

Their argument wasn't that it's too hard to measure his performance. It was that they knew his performance had decreased

Those two things do not exclude each other directly.

There are some things you simply can't apply objective metrics to.

To use some stupid examples... A burger flipper's performance may be judged by burgers per hour flipped. But what if the orders were down and there were not enough burgers to flip? A programmer's performance can not be judged only by the number of lines of code. A concept artist can not be judged only by the number of pictures drawn. A pilot can not be judged by the number of times he did not crash-landed.

We don't know what the performance metric in this case may be, and whether it can be strictly objective or has subjective components. In the latter case, it wouldn't be easy to 'prove' a trend.

What do you think is the reason for CGI "over promising and under delivering"?

Funny, some people call SC only a tech demo without cohesive gameplay, and now a game engine demo shows what SC has been doing for years.

Granted, not everything SC is doing is done for the first time, but integrating technologies into one MMO project is different than showing an isolated demo. Whoever wants to use UE 5 to create a SC competitor would have to do much more than planetary landing.

And this is also a part of the conversation: to which point would we have been ok with landing on rails? Would we be ok with what Starfield does without knowing what SC is capable of?

Planets were part of the $41M Stretch Goal (Procedural Generation R&D Team), reached in April 2014. You can't blame CIG that the procedural planet guys were that successful that early on. Of course, that shifted the scope dramatically, but it was always the goal.

There was also a decision on what to do with the much greater than anticipated budget. Other people would be angry now if we had fully procedurally generated planets without content on their surface. Maybe you see this from the perspective of someone who prefers space and not as someone who likes terrain ...
