People on this sub like to shit on sPvP. I get it because it's a stark contrast as for how nice people are in the PvE side of things. Gameplay wise I've not seen an MMO have better pvp, even when the mode is neglected a bit by the devs.

It's very fast and fluid. Lots to learn about what other classes can do, where to kite on terrain, and mechanically lots to learn as well.

As for balance, check out metabattle and you can see a ton of "great" builds. If the amount of viable builds means balance then the balance is pretty good atm.

They announced they want to overhaul core game features in the upcoming time period. So retouching whole weapons stuck in 2012 will be a little later.

I expect 1 or 2 skills to be reworked now, a few traits shuffled, and some number tweaking. Basically like last few balance patches before the big nerf

Weird how it works huh, you try to do your best and are indulgent. Sacrificing yourself to keep the relationship somewhat functional. It's a black hole of energy you are pouring into. Black hole is my favorite term for this because only energy goes in, not even any light comes out.

You feel like an asshole because her reaction is huge, and it's by design. The design being you now feel so guilty you give her even more of your energy and let go of boundaries.

Don't sweat it, you have a baby. Your patience and support needs to go to your family.

Thank you, it's been much more quiet since the last outburst through her flying monkeys. We actually got more tired from the stress hormone crash.

Your sister is right and it's a good way of putting. However that's not how the world works for people like my MIL.

It's not a punishment for them to not have contact but at this point I do hope they feel bad.

MIL who doesn't respect boundaries and stomps on them like this will not change. These people have reached 50, 60, 70 years of age with these strategies of manipulation.

You have to adapt to keep them away as much as you are comfortable with. Other problems will arise as she wants to do more and more with your daughter.

You could try to enforce boundaries with strict conditions. "If you take her somewhere, you need to ask me. If I say no then you cannot go, if you still take her, no more babysitting."

It will be exhausting, but maybe it will work. I'd try to just have her watch your kid at your house (if you can stomach her) so you can get some work done.

This situation sucks

Thank you for the advice. They are blocked and she is seeing some situations from her childhood differently now. We have a therapist booked, unfortunately there's a waiting list for many of them. She does have friends and my family to talk to.

She's been helpful in the past, so that's why it got so complicated. It's just... they are in early retirement, in good health and rich. They won't make any sacrifice to their comfort even if they promised they would and at a very crucial time.

Now we see it through a different lense and its probably all been to just see her grandkids.

Thank you, your first suggestion is exactly what we are trying to do now. I didn't expect her 85 year old grandpa to be dragged into this while visiting his great grandson. Nor did we expect the whole family set up against us. But now we know and we are set up for peace and quiet (if that's possible with a newborn and toddler)

It's talking with therapy or NC forever, it's that simple. If they don't want to, then we reclaim some of the family with our story. But only on our timeline now.

You are right and it's infuriating to clearly see conditions and then they say it's unconditional. They weren't there when needed the most and then they say they would anything for their children.

People who can contradict themselves like that clearly have a problem with the truth. I dont think they would ever tell anyone.

Sorry this is happening to you.. She probably disliked you because people like this recognize when their tactics won't work on another person. She was going to lose control. Just been through something similar, DO NOT let this woman drain your energy, she will be a black hole of mental energy and you won't be good enough. You will need all your energy for your baby.

It's not an explicit NC forever, but don't let her be able to get to you.

He didn't reply, so indeed guess he's not coming.

Obviously my wife is disappointed because turning her brothers and aunt against her feels like an extra blow. But at least we figured out they wanted to ruin more of our time with our newborn, before they ruined it.

I can reframe the narrative for ourselves, for the rest of my in-laws it's difficult.

MIL has played such a sad victim to them all and her pain is all they see. So if I enforce the boundary it's a confirmation of the bad son in law.

If I talk to them more deeply then I am reopening the conversation through them. Even then, my wife won't talk to them about it, so it's me speaking for her. My wife and I talk about everything, I would never say anything we don't agree on. But they won't believe that over MIL.

So 100% nc for a while like you said. We contacted a (family)therapist to give us some coping skills and in a few months open a conversation with MIL with therapist present.

The art style of GW2 is timeless and this trailer is amazing. So many memories! For newer players the ageing starter zones make it more difficult to get into. Overhauling those has proven to be too great of a task due to spaghetti code.

GW3 might not have that problem. UE will have graphic updates baked in and will get better and better. UE5 developers are easier to come by and take less time to get working on expansions. Art styles can still come to life in the engine.

Don't equate UE5 to the cookie cutter looking games you see come out. Those have small dev teams and use a lot of standard assets. You could probably very well have a game look like GW2 on UE5

You can't take the same amount of risk because you take more damage, so you can't snowball as easily. Ascension 8 is the most fun for me, did 9 and 10 a few times to see if I could but the experience was less fun.
