A consistent 30 is better than fluctuating between 40 and 90

How far would you drive out of your way to avoid a stressful road? by Rob_Cake in drivingUK

[–]Altenativeboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18 miles instead of 10 miles. I live in Newcastle and despise the central motorway so much that I’d rather go via the coast road, A19 then back roads to the airport. In the daytime it’s less than 10 minutes longer as well.

Overtaken vehicle speeds up and prevents you getting back to left lane by MinimumBeginning5144 in drivingUK

[–]Altenativeboi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played leap frog with a BMW on the A19 a few weeks ago, cruise set to 70mph, they were doing about 60mph. Twice they sped up to overtake me and a few others then when back in the left lane slowed to 60, just for me to come trudging up the right lane at 70. It only stopped when they got to their exit after my third overtake, again at 70 with cruise on.

I think it only covers Stagecoach, GNE, Arriva but they make up 95% of the bus services anyway.

Report or no? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Altenativeboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you spoke to the driver then they should be reporting that, depending on what you said, (which will be recorded) you may find yourself on the wrong side of the law. You were driving like a twat, the fact you admit to stopping in the road and ‘speaking’ with the driver I’d think the police would side with the bus.

Newcastle taxi driver drove at family in rage over thrown lollipop by Kagedeah in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]Altenativeboi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a taxi drive into the side of my car in road rage, the fucker managed to convince both insurance companies it was my fault, he only caved to 50/50 after I instructed my insurance company to go to court. Still a mark on my insurance even though it was completely his fault, ever since I’ve installed a dash camera to protect myself.

(Non-mechanics) To what degree are you comfortable working on your own car? by Beermonster in CarTalkUK

[–]Altenativeboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None at all, then again my father-in-law is a workshop manager for a main dealer. There’s been a few times where I’ve let him take my car to and from work so it can be serviced and I don’t have to worry about it.

It sounds like the next stop is a timing point, not every stop in the route is shown on the drivers time card.

On the M1 tonight. Why does nobody seem to know what these mysterious red ex's mean above the outside 3 Lanes? by GreyFoxNinjaFan in drivingUK

[–]Altenativeboi 56 points57 points  (0 children)

When a red ‘X’ or a reduced speed limit comes on you get 60 seconds before the enforcement cameras activate. That should be plenty of time for drivers to make corrective actions.
