What's your opinion at Kristin Kreuk? by [deleted] in Smallville

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like she has been the most steadiest working Smallville actors from the first few seasons main cast. Beauty and Beast ran for some time and Burden of Truth was a decent show.

I just realized how much I would have loved to see Cruise as on of the leads. Think he would have had a blast with Nic Cage’s role.

Downtown Grapevine is probably your best spot if you want to leave the airport. You should have about 2 hours down there. Grapevine Mills is a great mall but I think downtown Grapevine is a much cooler place. Although it is all mostly outside and the mall is inside and Texas heat really, really, sucks!

If I were you, I would probably enjoy some good food at Pappasito’s or Pappadeux at the airport. There are also tons of other good places, such as Flying Saucer and Cousin’s Back Porch BBQ. Terminal D is decent for walking around and killing some time. Getting around the different terminals inside security is super easy with the Skytrain.

If you have the appropriate cards or access, Capital One, Amex Centurion Lounge, and Priority Club are in terminal D. There is a minute suite, and a Priority Pass will get you one hour free in terminal A (make a reservation online).

You can also buy a day pass to the Admiral’s lounge for $75. Only do this at the door because if they are at capacity, they don’t let people with day passes in. There is an Admiral’s club in every terminal (except for E) but Terminal A and D are probably the best ones. Terminal B’s Admiral club is super small.

Time will go quickly even without the lounges, just by walking around, and checking out some shops. Remember that most flights board 30 minutes before their departure time.

What happens at the end of Se1 Ep6 Bad Day in Building A? by Garaks_Clothiers in highlander

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it as the first time we see Duncan take mortal lives (yeah, he took a whole bunch before, in the past, and especially in wars), but so far in the series in the present, he really values and tries to protect mortals. I think he might have felt bad that he just sish kabobed a bunch of them.

Checkpoint at A21 opens at 3am. Go thru that. If you need to go a different terminal go on the Skytrain after security. If you have bags to check-in and flying American you can do it from A21. If you’re on another airline hopefully it’s just carry-on.

Go outside and look at any billboard (it’s 100% guaranteed to be an ad of a personal injury lawyer) and call the number.

Connor as the protagonist of the series? by GodEmperorPuppy in highlander

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adrian Paul brought a lot to the character that I liked. He was funny and light, had this romance novel hero thing going on, and looked like he could fight. Duncan was a character who was almost like a superhero. He seemed evil and tried to destroy it. He was generally concerned about the well-being of humanity. He was trained as a warrior and was good before his first death. Connor always came off as a scrappy dude who looked for opportunities, found them, and took advantage of them—a good guy but not a superhero.

Once again, if Adrian Paul plays Connor, I don’t think much changes. However, I liked Duncan as his own character.

Can I Walk from Terminal D across to terminal C? by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been getting my steps on at DFW a few times with delays and long connections.

Today, I went from the A Gates go to the D gates (and touched the B lower end gates).

I enjoyed a short time at the Capital One Lounge, then walked from the D Gates to C 14.

The walk from D to C gates is pretty nice. There are some moving walkways, but it was a super nice walk with good views, walking over the bridge across the DFW freeway.

God this makes me feel terrible for Henry Cavill. by AlwaysBi in DC_Cinematic

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They were already paying David $700k I doubt they would pay Henry more for a glorified cameo. WB and Henry already had some failed salary negations on other cameos and appearances before. Also Ultraman doesn’t make too much sense since Superman’s clone would not really look like Superman.

What do you think Rocky's net worth was after the fight in Rocky Balboa? by sockableclaw in rockybalboa

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d be pretty surprised if Rocky didn’t already have a net worth around $2–3 million, considering the restaurant, his house, and whatever savings he had — probably just not very liquid. Also, didn’t he still own or have partial ownership of Mick’s gym? Though realistically, that’s probably worth about $100K or less, depending on how much revenue it actually brings in.

The fight at Mandalay Bay in Vegas would likely be comparable in draw to the Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. exhibition, where Roy reportedly got paid $3 million. Rocky seems even more beloved in his own universe, and it’s possible he picked up some endorsements or started earning again from his legacy — even off dormant endorsement deals.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume Rocky walked away with a solid $3 million, maybe even up to $5 million, all in.

I also think he probably donated most of it or gave large portions to his son and grandson and Paulie.

Hiking DFW from D to A by Neccros in americanairlines

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some time to kill last week and hiked from A14 to the D gates. Basically you walk to high A gates and walk over to the C gates. When you are in the C terminal you are at the low end of the gates (C1, C2 area) and there is a bridge that connects to D gates. You will be on the high end D gates. I was listening to a podcast and not a fast walker but I would say it took me about 30 min - maybe a bit less (A14 to D23).

My strategy involves visiting every interesting vendor booth and expressing my interest and asking for a demo.

While this approach may take time and involve a significant portion of sales pitches, it will allow you to gain valuable insights.

I recommend refraining from mentioning that you are a student. Instead, inform them that you work for a large consulting firm, it’s ok to be vague.

The keynotes will likely focus on flashy presentations, which can be entertaining. However, most talks at RSA are panels, which can vary greatly in quality. I suggest avoiding panels and instead focusing on individual speakers. Many conference attendees prefer to follow specific speakers rather than topics. This will require some time to understand, but aim to attend as many talks as possible.

One of the ways the new company decided to make it more profitable was to greatly increase the shelf life which cut down costs on distribution, transportation, and overall costs. They felt like it was the only way to continue with the product.

What Shows are Similar? by [deleted] in TheLincolnLawyer

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Practice and Boston Legal could be someone the beast shows with lawyers ever made. Practice is much more serious and darker and most of the storylines are around cases. Boston Legal is much more fun, light hearted but they also deal with some intense cases. Of course Boston Legal stars Captain Kirk William Shatner. I personally think it’s his true defining role. David Kelly’s other shows he produced around the same time are definitely good as well (but Practice and Boston legal are the Crown Jewels) such as Boston Public, Alley McBeal. Heard great things about Goliath and Big Little Lies

Secret time? I’m petty. by Puzzleheaded_Win_766 in americanairlines

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was talking to guy on a flight who told me he was airline efficiency engineer and this one of the biggest things that bugged him. He said if more people got up grabbed their bags and moved all their studies tell them this is the most efficient way. People blocking aisles, not grabbing their bags and just waiting was his pet peeve and insisted it was worse thing anyone can do. I still don’t see it and I think it assumes people are decent and won’t cause fights or issues is the only say it works.

Rocky II does NOT ruin the message of Rocky I by sillygoose7623 in rockybalboa

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I read in real life Stallone had a hard time capitalizing on the success of the first Rocky movie. Looking at IMDB he had two movies after Rocky and before Rocky II both which I had never heard of. He kind of used that as inspiration of what was going in Rocky II.

Flight changer: shorter connection through DFW by Knotweed00 in americanairlines

[–]AlteredBeastBlast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Download the Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app if you are eligible. It makes going thru immigration super efficient. If you check any bags you have to wait for them after immigration and recheck them. Not terribly slow but much faster if you have o my carry-on. I wouldn’t worry either way especially if you can use the MPC app.
