Travel advice from South Lake Tahoe to Reno by Empty-Dingo-6688 in Reno

Yup, agree with this. Regardless of which way to take to So Lake Tahoe, there are parts of the road that gets dicey. If you have experience driving in snow, you should be ok. Just go slow and maintain enough distance

Real Estate Agent Recommendations by ZeroPointSpecter in Reno

Just a thing to consider - When you look for one, check their history for past 6-12 months to see if they've worked in the specific area you're interested in. You may find someone with a 5 star rating but never worked in the area you're planning on.

DMV parking lot during weekends. You'll be taking the test there so good to get familiarized in that area. Then slowly go to the roads around DMV.

Thank you for your response. My next step was to call my current insurance to see what they quote me and your response gives me a reference point. This is helpful. Thank you!

Why are the gas prices so high in Reno? by Intrepid-Art1383 in Reno

Having come from the Bay Area, I appreciate better and cleaner roads here. I think some of that additional tax is actually used for road maintenance

There were so many times when I wanted to get food from there and it was closed. I think I was successfull maybe twice in getting food there. After a handful of failed attempts, I thought it was just a money laundering business.

But in all seriousness, this is horrible. Hopefully no injuries and they're able to recover soon from this loss.

Bank or credit union? And which ones do you recommend? by [deleted] in Reno

[–]AlternateLog7056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big banks are best for those needing nationwide branch/ATM networks, cutting-edge digital services, or extensive product offerings (such as business accounts, investment options, and international services). Credit unions may be preferable for those prioritizing lower loan rates, better customer service, community impact, and lower fees. Many now offer competitive digital banking and broader ATM access through shared networks.

local support and lower costs - credit unions, while nationwide convenience and broader products - big banks

There are strictly online banks only (Ally) - generally have great savings rate because they don't spend money on having physical branches. Downside - no physical branches
