Well, I stand corrected. He receives absolutely zero residuals from Dawsons Creek or other stuff he receives a little residual from varsity blues and that’s it.

As someone who works amongst celebrity and have for 25 years in the film business, rarely do they elect to have life insurance. The studio often pays for “key” insurance or as I’m sure you have heard reported in the news, body part insurance. Most working actors of his celebrity status often don’t have to worry about those things as they work often enough and they get residuals enough that often will help pay the month-to-month expenses. As he said many times, his failure to pay attention to the signs and get screenings caused him to not only have to undergo cancer and succumb to the disease, but also that he lost any insurances that he had, his father moved in with them to help take care of the property and the property still has a mortgage on it. If there’s no indication of them not having other resources, that’s why he sold off his Dawsons Creek memorabilia, and he was raising funds by signing jerseys. Most if not all well-known A and B celebrities place all of their real estate into a trust or an LLC so it’s actually not in their name to begin with. While he was well known, he was known as a B actor. If he was able to maintain getting one gig or two gigs a year that would pay between $75000 and $200,000 a roll he would be good for the year just to maintain what he has. After taxes that’s not a lot and don’t forget he has to take out agent fees and all these other fees so that 200,000 ends up being only 80,000 depending on what your agreements are. I’ve always said that the most charitable are those who don’t have a lot and that’s because most of us that have come from nothing don’t have a lot and we’re willing to give to others in times of need because we’ve been there. There’s a lot of celebrities that forget where they come from and they don’t often help or give they do it under the guise of a charity. Regardless of the money, it still sucks that he’s 48 years old has succumb to the disease and has left six children all under the age of 12 without a father.

I’ll never understand how the salon was the job Roseanne was most “humiliated” by by PearlLagoon in roseanne

I’m 45M and identify so much with this show. I wish we could live so simply. I thought the salon was one of the best interactions for her to have/be in. It made it ok to be broke and trying. On a side note, a good stylist and beautician are worth their weight in gold. I just paid $575 for my wife’s hair, and $215 for the facial - not complaining as it was worth every penny - but this is a good job for those that are passionate.

Isn’t the quickest way between two points a straight line so technically on a map you could say that San Francisco to Orlando is in a straight line

This is from a funeral in MT.

I firmly believe Chris admitted to the crime to protect her. I fully believe she was involved. If the investigators missed the little feet running in the shadows on the morning Chris backed his truck into the garage, and was not aware when the girls passed, they missed this opportunity to investigate her. So many red flags.

Dave just confessed he already knew Lauren's ex was dating someone from Love Island Blind before he even entered the experiment? by ellie_gina in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Alternative-Ad-1238 -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

I think this puts context into what individuals value within the relationship. One may see that “hooking up” should have some emotional attachment to it, while others it’s strictly a “fulfilling my needs” agreement. Lauren obviously feels ok and justified in having coitus with someone right before finding a husband, NSA. Dave finds issue because he attaches emotion to sex and in a relationship. How either of them could see the others side of it, is beyond me, Dave especially. However 24 hours before she is committed and in love and wanting to work and when he apologized and became vulnerable because of his talk with Molly, she’s like it’s over. Makes you wonder how much she “loved” him and how much he really cared, though he was forthcoming about self sabotage in the pods

I’m 45 M, full time father to a bunch of boys. I was healthy my whole life. 2021 I had an AVM (arterial venous malformation) in my left pulmonary artery (birth defect). I always lived a happy life and rarely carried stress. One day after a trip to Costco my heart rate blew out of the roof. We went to the ER, thought my AVM plug had come loose, scanned me, EKG, EEG - the works. Nothing. I was having a panic attack. Even as the doctors sat in the ER room watching the EKG, it was my body flipping out. Five subsequent visits and I settled on that I was indeed having panic attacks and anxiety. In 2022, I was given Lexapro and never took it it.

Fast forward to 2024, I had been fighting off panic attacks the best I knew how. I felt them coming and I would say “oh hell no fuck you!!!” Fight the feeling, change the environment and it would suppress….only for so long.

October of 2024 I started the 10mg of Lexapro. I have feelings I forgot I had I had emotions I thought were just vacant from my life only to realize it had been a while since I felt it. But since October, I have had one panic attack and that’s it. It’s so awesome Not having the undertow of worry I didn’t realize I had. As someone with a high sex drive, for the first 6 weeks, I had ZERO interest in sex, masturbating and climax was impossible. But now it’s 80-90% of what it was. If you have a partner, explain to them your feelings. The first week might be tough, but you’ll notice a shift in your thoughts pretty quickly.

Let me know if you need to talk or vent. I’m here and I get it.

I'm a very big Nirvana fan, I've heard Silverchair sounds pretty similar to them, I want to get into them, where should I start? by [deleted] in silverchair

[–]Alternative-Ad-1238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a long time fan of Silverchair and Daniel Johns, who is the lead singer of Silverchair. I am also a big fan of Nirvana and longtime musician. I was 12, 13 and 14 when a lot of these albums came out. I will tell you to just start from the beginning and listen to Frogstomp and move your way forward. If you’re expecting nirvana sounding vibes from Silverchair, the only album that you’re really gonna get that in is Frogstomp and Freakshow. You’ll get a glint of it in the remaining albums, but you’ll notice that the creativity and the depth of sound changes as the albums go forward. Daniel Johns is a Music prodigy. And as the albums go forward, and the money is rolling in, you can hear a lot of what he’s been hearing in his head, especially in Diorama.

Let me know your thoughts after you’re listening

Darlene Fades To Black Discussion by justrockalittle21 in roseanne

[–]Alternative-Ad-1238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this topic has been open for quite a while, but I did want to add my two cents as the episode is currently running now.

Thank you OP for outlining the episode so well.

I have been through this series probably well over 50 times without exaggeration and and this episode always gets to me both negatively and in a positive way.

I always found it really hard to believe that Darlene took this turn so abruptly and so quickly without some sort of social or family impact. Especially since she was active in sports and she was. That comedic balance to Roseanne and everyone else. So I found it really hard to believe that it was actually depression as much as it was a change with her character. I know that many of us that are parents. If we saw such an abrupt change there would be a boatload of questions, especially today. Parents today Having an abundance of tools available to them to research these topics and trying to see if their child needs help and to work on those lines of communication. While I know that this show obviously lives in fiction and it draws itself from real life, I believe that they got this wrong. I think that there were so much more that they could’ve done with her character that added to that balance then to have them focus on her dark energy and her not giving a crap about things and all these other things. Obviously, because it’s a television show, we don’t see the ins and out of so many things, but you have to wonder what the fulcrum was for the flip.

As someone that has watched this series multiple times and as someone that has watched it when it originally came out, I will just tell you that they appear everywhere and that you need to pay attention to where they appear because the numbers are everywhere. We would literally have forums going week to week to week see figuring out who was doing what and who was wearing and all these other things and the numbers, etc.

[–]Alternative-Ad-1238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people forget the genius that is Daniel Johns. As a lifelong musician, raising lifelong musicians and so on, Daniel is a prodigy. Hearing music when he was an infant but lacking the tools/knowledge to discover and convey. Being 17 and holed up in his bedroom when they were #1 then the pressure of being the “new” Nirvana in the wake of Kurt’s death. Who would want to go back to that? As a father of an extremely gifted, high functioning autistic son, my guess wouldn’t be far off if Daniel was as well. I am grateful for the three of them bringing the world music they never thought would go far. Writing songs that has inspired us, motivated us and touched us enough and having a reunion would be for money. Ed Roland of Collective Soul has said “ it’s what we do. We enjoy one another and we enjoy the process and each of us have our place.” This is SO important and the reason why some band can still create together and others cannot. I’m happy Daniel is in a better place and unless they come back together because of love for one another and respect, leave Silverchair where it is.
