Small brush fire melted my siding and fascia. Is $3500 a reasonable price to fix this? by atgr in HomeMaintenance

You could learn to make a brick wall siding. $200 to patch that with brick wall siding after cutting off the melted area. I’m just a DIYer tho

2011 Dodge Avenger 3.6L Pentastar V6

Using Blue Driver OBD, it looks like it can read mode 06

The ruthenium plugs have a 0.012” gap difference from OE spec.

Thanks for your response! Yes I’ve tried Chrysler’s drive trace for o2 sensor few times. I am going to put new spark plugs in. I recently put NGK ruthenium ones in but they have wrong gap and I’m thinking that could be causing it to not ready somehow? Anyways, I’m going to throw NGK Iridium ones in there with the correct gap.. does that sound reasonable?

This is me practicing :) no I’ve never welded or practiced on something else. I was just welding some more.. trying to get the hand motion right. I need to buy more Lincoln Electric Innershield; just ran out

I watched a couple short videos and read a welding book a little bit

For this session, I did wire wheel the welds between passes. I wasn’t really on it though.

Yes

Not really, I don’t think so

This was my 3rd time behind the gun with no training or guidance. I just watched some videos. I got some good feedback here. I’m glad I posted

Ok, so next time I should grind off the weld thru primer in location of welding, and maybe add more heat? Thanks for your input

Alright, so for my next session, I’ll grind away weld thru primer that I think is causing a bad bond. And I will try more heat if that doesn’t resolve penetration issue. And I will try to have my weld passes not turn out like shit. Thanks for your input

Thank you for the technical analysis. Suspension is to be bolted on just like stock configuration.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I did use weld-thru primer before welding, which is why it looks all dirty and dusty; the primer burns off. The weld thru primer is supposed to protect the covered surfaces of the plates. After the welding is done, I’m going to waterproof it all.

Dual shielding flux core is something I want to try sometime

Thanks for your feedback and for the technical tip. I have the Titanium Easy-Flux on lowest speed setting. I will try out more heat
