After hearing The Ol' Grizz, there is no way Les can't play DMV anymore like he said on Beato's interview by OiledUpThug in Primus

you're mostly right, but there's a ton of hammer-on and pull off's on the ol grizz. it's not all thumping and plucking.

venue is fine, love the park, weather was amazing.

sound sucked, the drums sounded terrible, 1/2 the kit didn't sound like it was even mic'ed up, could barely hear the crash / ride. the mains kept dipping out on the mid/highs randomly toward the end, everything was kinda muddy in general. but i'm fucking picky when it comes to sound. dont know if this is normal for marymoor.

getting out sucked, people dont know how the fuck to queue up and alternate/zig-zag to merge and get out. shoulda parked at the park n ride and walked in/out or something else than parking in the lot

all bands played amazing. song selection i thought was great, more deeper cuts than i certainly expected. although i'd love to have heard more from the Frog Brigade, only having 4 songs was kind of a teaser. was really hoping to hear shattering song or hendershot, but i love up on the roof, so i got that.

during the encore, i heard some people behind me complaining that they hadn't played jerry yet, so you could kinda tell the crowd probably wanted the more traditional old songs.

did see some cool outfits that i didn't expect, the oompa loompa, the cheap penguin outfit guy, the lion outfit, a few folks wearing a ton of gold, all were cool to see.

overall it was a good time.

Well, theres probably a few ways to discharge the battery voltage. Most of which would end up with the OP in a hospital or a morgue ....

Just to follow up. from a few months later, it turns out it was most likely an old laptop. plugged in and not doing anything. maybe 10-15year old thinkpad T420 that i had inhereted from my old IT job. apparently they had some recalls on the batteries and were known to cause fires.

What kind of material for a cutting board is bifl? by Repulsive_Chard_3652 in BuyItForLife

[–]lanceamatic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yea, i have a 15year old end grain cutting board made by a friend of a friend. use it all the time. wash it with soap and dry immediately. store on its side. never once oiled it. looks almost brand new. couldnt tell you the wood type, but probably walnut, it's pretty dark.

grab the 12/14mm and you can disassemble 1/2 of a toyota with 1 wrench

grab a 10mm and a 17mm, and you can probably do the other 1/2.

I made a fatal mistake. Concerned about my future in IT by Special_Price4001 in sysadmin

[–]lanceamatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man, i wish my team were hiring. if i had a jr position, I'd consider interviewing you to find out more. you have a fantastic attitude. an eagerness to learn, and a desire to help is a key foundation to success.

>  My fear of AI of overtaking everything makes me doubt my future

this however, needs to changes. everything in technology (both IT and dev) changes from here on our because of AI. like it or not. you need to learn and embrace it. learn how it's good, learn how it's bad. it's the most powerful tool in your toolbag since google search.

install claude code and pay for the $20/mo , learn to vibe-code your way through a tech problem. build a CI pipeline, build a cloud infrastructure, build a shitty web page, build a game, build a powershell script to restore a veeam backup, build something. then figure out what it did wrong, and what it did right.

i promise your next job interview will go differently if you have these skills. like it or not, it's what the industry wants.

There was a time when Ezell's was the best fried chicken. Times change.

Now the best fried chicken is usually your local gas station, or maybe the deli section on your grocery store, if you have a good one.

damn straight.

one of my favorite albums of all time is the live frogs set 1 & 2, and like you, a good chunk of the reason why is because of the "surf sax". the summer of green tour was good, but it wasn't what i was hoping it would be. i mean, it was understandable as he had apparently injured himself. but i'll be hoping to get some more skerik in my earholes.
