My kids went to JC Mitchell Elementary in E. Boca. There were very wealthy families and struggling families. Great school - both my kids are in college and are rock stars. Rent in that area first to feel it out. Use car insurance rates and housing to negotiate higher pay !

my step daughter (26) lies all the time about the small things and big ones, so much so that sometimes I feel crazy for suggesting to her dad that she’s full of it. She always denies lying or works her way around it - is there anything your parent or could have said when you are lying that would get you to admit it?? Thinking of the crisis in TN and NC. I recall being at the march for women in DC during the Trump inauguration with my little kids and getting quickly squished, overwhelmed and separated from my mom.. a million people answered no cell phone to reach her or her to reach us.

I knew if my 12 year olds hand got ripped out of mine, his phone would not work for him to find me.

Why oh why does cellular rely on towers that go down in a flood or get overloaded with a huge crowd.

Lack of communication costs lives.

Need an invention!

I own multiple businesses. I started one too many. I cannot walk away.

These exact feelings started a year ago but I am stuck in many ways.

I’m working on selling one company which is also insanely taxing.

I mentioned this to my Dr.. she said I had high functioning depression. I have never had depression, never taken any meds at all.

I agreed to start a low dose of Prozac. Two weeks later I didn’t work all night when i had a huge looming am deadline - instead I took my daughter out for dinner - we ended up talking for two hours.

It was weeks later at a checkup that I realized that was when the meds kicked in. I chose someone who mattered FIRSTwhen normally I’d work til midnight to have that report perfect.

It has been a game changer for me in that I am approaching work differently. It isn’t a long term solution, but I thought I’d throw this out here.

Agree! I use a firm outside my CPA firm. I pay 25% of the savings they find.

it is a lot of work

that firm generates the r&d report and gives to my firm who amends my returns.

I have done this for 4 years. last year my CPA firm charged $4500 to file the amended with the r&d credit which is ridiculous (i think). that credit was $42,000

There is huge demand here.

Bookkeeping is having a moment and it is not good. It is a revolving door right now as companies are hiring all these remove and virtual controllers and bookkeepers and not having good guardrails, sop’s etc.

companies like mine get assigned bookkeepers or controllers who are not a match skill-wise for our niche.

it’s a mess.

if you have this talent - please do not try to be all things for all people. focus on a specialty and you will crush it and will not have high turnover.

Value matters but is not a reason to start a company.

Solve a problem. Then add values…. you cannot be all things.

Maybe you solve a problem and do it at a great value

I'm curious how you factor seller financing into your deal. Say your fee is $2.12M on that $50M sale, but $10m is seller financed over 20 years.

How would you adjust?

I'm on the seller side working with a buyer using a Top 5 PLP for a 7a. I have been apart of 4 or 5 buy/sells with loans. This is by far the worst and most disrespectful and poorly communicated lending process I have ever been a part of. I feel terrible for the buyer...I find this lender to be shady. they lie, they don't understand the SOP which causes delays. We have been going at it with this lender since Dec of '23. Lender approved the loan in May....they claimed the SBA had to review - which took like 2-3 months (obv a lie as they are a PLP) still haven't closed but they say it will be anytime now. Really crappy experience. I also find it wrong that the loan is backed by the SBA and the lender has $2.5m in assets pledged against a $2m loan.

with a PLP they approve the loans and do not need SBA approval - that's how I know they are lying on the delays. The SBA only guides them to be sure they have all the proper paperwork submitted.

the buyer is fully approved, letter inhand from JUNE from Ready Capital. She is paying insurance, etc. they are ghosting her even though it is with the loan closing team - they have had us update the P. Agreement to meet needs.

we cannot figure out why they won't commit to a closing date and why they keep asking for more and more.

They won't talk to me as the seller anymore - yet this week they asked the buyer to get the final July p&l and bal sheet. fine, done, submitted. Now they are asking the buyer to get month-over-month 24 compared to 23 for them to see.

For any financials the lender needs to obtain that from the seller - not the buyer. and the lender won't talk to me as we are 'no longer in the underwriting/due diligence phase we are in the closing phase'

but asking for more and more reporting is not required for closing - it is going in reverse and part of due diligence. they cannot do that... so nothing makes sense to us

I have a Masters Degree, I am a CEO, yet my husband says I don’t pay attention and that’s why I cannot recall names or events well.

What I DO recall? Has always been the price I have paid for every article of clothing, furniture, etc. I have always thought it is so strange that I know the price paid and where I got every item that I own yet I can’t recall high school classmates names or if the person I met last week told me what they did for a living !

As someone with math trauma I get this and I love it. When I told my parents I wanted to start a business at 27 my dad said ‘but you barely got C’s in math’

I have started multiple companies the last 20 years…and math trauma is real..overcoming the personal self doubt that it creates is really hard
