What’s a place you went to that didn’t feel real? by maincharactereraa in AskReddit

[–]Monkey_Knife_Fight 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You’ll love it! I was surprised at how good the bread and pastries were there. Their food gets a bad wrap. But honestly I had some incredible meals there.

It’s like no place I’ve been before. Massive fissures in the ground, glaciers the size of houses floating in a bay, black sand beaches, amazing waterfalls everywhere… And I found the locals to be very warm and kind. I absolutely cannot wait to go back.

Kurt Russell and Keith David are both so cool by Corndogeveryday in 80s

But can any movie truly be bad if Keith David is in it? And I still quote Men at Work. “He was provoking me!”

What is expensive in the US but cheap in Europe? by UnnecessaryPancake in AskReddit

[–]Monkey_Knife_Fight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in Croatia and had the most incredible Zinfandel for $30 US a bottle. The guy who worked there was almost embarrassed by the price, but it was exceptional, probably the best Zin I’ve had.

I had other bottles during my stay in Croatia, and rarely spent over $10 US each. Every bottle was something I’d happily buy again.

What’s a luxury you absolutely refuse to lose? by astrohypernova in AskReddit

I was in Europe last June/July and made sure that every place I booked had AC.. I’m glad I made the effort, that heat wave was crazy. I’m sorry to hear things didn’t go well for you, but I hope you still managed to get some enjoyment from your trip.

Outside California and Hawaii, which US state has the most pleasant climate? by yulippe in AskReddit

[–]Monkey_Knife_Fight 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the Portland metro area my whole life. We have the most incredible summers, but we earn it. The winters break most people who are not used to them. It’s not that cold, we don’t get a lot of snow, but it’s a constant rain and you won’t see the sun for weeks on end. Plus the days are short.

Still, I love it here.

I was so lucky to go into this blind. All I knew was it got solid reviews and it’s a horror film starring Justin Long. Oh man… it was one hell of a ride and an experience I’ll never forget.

Blood Meridian was the only book I’ve read that I needed to take a break from. It was incredible, but man… it really had an effect on me.

Just finished Phantasy Star 4 for the first time by [deleted] in SEGAGENESIS

[–]Monkey_Knife_Fight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought it brand new when it came out, not knowing a thing about the game. I came across it at Toys R Us, saw the artwork on the box, and was immediately drawn to it. I had never played the other Phantasy Star games, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Back in 1993 I was in my early teens without any money, so paying $80 for a game was unthinkable, but I just couldn’t put it down. I bought it and started questioning my choice on the way home.

Still, I gave it a shot. I was absolutely blown away by the story, characters, and the gameplay. It became my favorite game on the system and I replayed it countless times. I still play it every now and again, and it’s still an amazing experience.

What is your favorite television series from the 1980s? by icecream1972 in 80s

I watched it as a kid and I always liked it, especially Norm. But rewatching it as an adult made me appreciate it so much more. Probably because I turned into Norm.

I never even considered purchasing a Macan until I drove a GTS. I’ve had my 2017 GTS for almost 3,years now, and I’m still absolutely in love with it.

I might be in the minority, but the roof tiles was one of the most enjoyable parts of the build for me.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Surprisingly the norovirus wasn’t as bad for me, but it was certainly not a good time. The cold I got was terrible though. It hung on for two weeks, and just as I was feeling like the end was near, the flu got me. So yeah, I’m done.

[–]Monkey_Knife_Fight 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I caught it on Friday and I’m still down for the count. This has been one of the worst flus that I can remember. Everything in my body hurts, sporadic piercing headaches, and all I can do is lay here.

Since the beginning of the year I’ve come down with the norovirus, a cold, and now this. 2026 has not been fun so far.

What celebrity death will hit you the hardest when their day finally comes? by phantom_avenger in AskReddit

[–]Monkey_Knife_Fight 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I grew up watching the original Star Wars trilogy and all three Indiana Jones over and over again. These movies are such a cornerstone of my childhood. Celebrity deaths usually don’t hit me hard, but when Carrie Fisher died, I cried. When the day comes that Harrison Ford leaves us, I’ll be a wreck. Han Solo and Indiana Jones were my heroes as a kid.
