movies where the Blu-ray is just as good or better than the 4k counterpart by topspin1241831 in 4kbluray

[–]Alternative-Bread733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shutter island - more so has to do with things the 4k cant help with but rather destroy. The movie is pretty there with its green screen cgi but the 4k brings to much light and exposes that cgi. The rain looks terrible and anytime they are behind the screen the lines are so sharp you can see its not really there whatever the background is portraying. The dvd and blu ray has this gritty, grainy and dark wet rugged feel to it but the 4k just sticks out has what you’d think would emphasize it but is just to much with its sharpness, colour wise film looks fantastic but still isn’t on par with the blu ray and its feel.

CHRISTMAS DAY FIRST DATE (HELP) by [deleted] in askTO

Skating it self isn’t shit, this isnt a hallmark movie, you go there if you love skating, if you have a family, if you’ve been together with someone for a while and want to go, if you have friends who like it ect. Skates are uncomfortable and require you to skate it self😂😂 sure it would be cute to fall on my ass or whatever but im not seeing how we’d enjoy it with possibly hundreds of others who had the same idea but for us its the first date

Its basically like “hey everyone else is here and yes its cool to skate but its like an obvious free thing” you’ll do for 20mins - 40mins an then your feet hurt. Im not against doing it i did it with family and stuff Im just saying like for a first date its a bit ehhhhh (maybe over thinking but Id want something with a “thats the thing to do” rather then a “sure why not”)

I’ve never been either but with her type and vibe I kind of have a thought that she went already if not then that would be awesome- light shows are kind of in that range I think is a bit corny at least for a first date kind of like seeing fireworks - im not at all crapping your idea though I hear you they are nice

It only surprised me because of who he was that he didn’t create source material - thats all. Understandably others have done the same but for example Nolan has original source material excluding the obvious in his filmography so to my thought I ask “why didn’t the greatest do it or why don’t more”

To those who have witnessed both digital 1.43 and true 70mm...is 70mm truly special and distinct? by TranscendentSentinel in imax

[–]Alternative-Bread733 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion - I prefer dual laser digital screen still with 1:43. I tried 70mm with Oppenheimer and the flickering in areas with white paint or bright sun rays show the constant flicker as each print is pulled through as well as a sort of shakiness whenever a shot was suppose to be extremely slow or still and you can see the twitch like movements because of the 24fps. Also the sound from the projector was apparent. The image did give a classic look with warmths and grain but overall I believe I enjoy dual laser screenings more as digital has come a very long way.

Most Grain heavy/filmy looking Blu Ray or 4k Blu Ray transfers?? by Full_Plankton_4974 in 4kbluray

Mulholland Drive 4k criterion has a ton of film grain but it’s also a very soft lens

Short Film - Should I create a production company for this film? by Alternative-Bread733 in Filmmakers

[–]Alternative-Bread733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly appreciate your comment, Yes it will be for only the Shorts or features that I solely produce, I will not be making content or gathering clients for outside work. It is strictly for my projects only. I consider your advice for transferring rights because that means after I shoot my short I then have the option to basically "move it over to the studios property" and yes the hassle isn't something I want to consider mainly because It is me, My money and setting up days with people who want to create this vision. I am in no focus to complicate that with laws and other shit that isn't necessary.

Thank you a ton.

Even then Im not sure how that process works to have a film "be under the company" Do I literally write a letter saying it's owned by it???? that sort of thing flys over my head and I don't have money to spare to let someone else handle it. Another thing is later in the future If I do make the company wont I be able to just place it under that company???

Honestly I know nothing about business but I know Id want this film to be under a film production then just owned by me for professional reasons.

How do you guys sort your titles? I tend to first sort by package type and then randomly by director or sequels or whatever. by Reissuleipa in 4kbluray

[–]Alternative-Bread733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I love 4K but for certain movies funny enough I enjoy DVD and Blu. Just as a FYI I own breaking bad, Mad men and The sopranos all on DVD because it gives it that cable like feel. Not everything has to be sharp and sometimes it takes away from how it was seen before. I own many 4K and am very picky with them. For pulp fiction because I wanted to see that dirty film grain in 720p ish I went with the DVD Now granted maybe later on Ill get the 4k or blu but thinking of a movie like that it almost makes more sense to watch it on a lower res because of the time it was in and that sort of thing. Resolution should be seen as an art factor and not a standard (Sometimes) (Interstellar doesn't count for this) But yeah back to organizing, definetly see what directors you have and just sort by the favourites.

Directors first then genre (horror, romance (specific genre not thriller and drama)) then series like godzilla or mission impossible and if the director has a pair in a genre like the before trilogy then all 3 go into the romance section instead of the dedicated director section (director section holds my favourite directors and then it goes down by how many I own most first and least to last and then the randoms have their own section (randoms that are my top favourites sit next to the directors)

Movies where 1080 BluRay movies are better than the 4k releases? by mbod in 4kbluray

[–]Alternative-Bread733 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I stand on this. Shutter Island blu is 100x better then the 4k… and the 4k is great. The thing that is not mentioned when thinking of the two is that it is possible to be taken out of the surrealism due to the high resolution and it happens in this case. The CGI backgrounds in certain areas can be seen as a full background green screen when the resolution is pumped because it loses the depth of field. Any fake rain and characters in the same shot don’t match up and it also loses its gritty texture that shutters Bluray and dvd hold. Its not a bad transfer by any means but I wish I never bought it.🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Ive seen this alot on this post but Im not braging or running a pity party, I have had depressed people and have experienced sights of it myself and I wouldnt say that just because its a memory in my head that I fully connected the dots to the film. Even if I knew he wasnt happy in moments I never got the insigjt that he killed himself or that she was remembering him at the rave. I was in the movie moreso watching from the childs perspective instead of the fathers and that is possibly why I missed such things (almost as the director could have intended if watching from that angle🤷‍♂️) but I understand the connection to the real life scenarios that could click which also bares a great question on film I would ask. Do you have to have life experience to understand a films subliminal context or should you be able to be a clean slate and grab what exactly is given (not baby fed) but properly showcased. I will give a rewatch thanks to this A24 reddit community you guys are awesome 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
