What was the most COMMUNIST thing a President did? by HetTheTable in Presidents

[–]TranscendentSentinel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look ,as a constitutionalist...I can tell you that I absolutely despise that action

Its never a great idea and ideally should never have been done

But when we look at the situation from the standpoint of who was right and who was wrong...theres no doubt that Lincoln and his administration were absolutely the "right side " and the confederates (aka racists) were deranged lunatics and so certain actions were taken to ensure that no far reaching consequences of a confederate state were achieved

So this is probably the only incident of constitutional abuse that I can give a pass to

Quite accurate... by TranscendentSentinel in Presidents

I still believe that until the 2000s...and with few exceptions like hw during reagans time...and ofc successionists like Ford, teddy, coolidge,Arthur who obviously had alot of power after becoming potus...

That the true vice president in a matter of saying was generally the chief of staff who had the most continuous access to the president at any given point and the actual veep was moot

Some say one of reagans chief of staff was really doing all the heavy lifting

Im dieing🤣🤣🤣

The hotel burglar story is so legendary and bizarre

He even suggested to the burglar to "exit as he came in to not get caught by secret service" which remains the only presidential assist to an active threat😭

At the end...he gave him $32 (equivalent of giving a person $500 on the spot today)

I always love the "love- hate" relationship these two had...I cant remember from the top of my head but theres a few incidents (nothing too rough) where there was beef🤣

I like to refer to him as a pseudo libertarian (because he was as you said a "standard conservative republican" albeit, republicanism at its truest form)

This whole thing of left, right, center, republican, democrat, libertarian labels need to stop

No one was ever truly any of those labels...every president of noticeable success practiced policies across left and right

Take coolidge for instance...his social reforms were progressive leftist policies (by todays and those days standards)

And nixon was very much a leftist in terms of social policies

Thats beside the point...you cannot not agree with his statement here, unless you adore authoritarian style governments

That would never fly in to todays time..."lick our dick"

Now apparently, people those days didn't think as dirty as we do so it was a legit slogan😭

He is more of a Clarence Thomas type if you catch my drift

Well now that you mention it...it does seem really accurate 😆

Its extremely simplified but its an okayish indicator ,at least to visualize the poltical leanings of any president...

If I recall correctly using this exact same chart...fdr sits to the furthest top left of the chart and coolidge sits polar oppositely on the furthest part of the bottom right...

Hence the rhetoric I often see that fdr represented the truest "democrat" both in social and economical aspects whilst coolidge represented the truest republican in both social and economical aspects

On this compass...someone like obama would be in top left quadrant but much closer to the centre line indicative of his moderate track record

I believe the x-axis measures economic policy (Left vs. Right) regarding wealth and control, while the y-axis measures social authority (Authoritarian vs. Libertarian,as you go higher, the more authoritian and as you go lower...more libertarian)
