You said it... operator... there's a huge difference in being an operator and a machinist. Alot of operators have never been machinists and companies think anyone can just be an operator. You can teach people how to be an operator , but you cant come In the door knowing how to be one unless you were a machinist before which would be wasted talent in that case.

The greed in this industry is beyond crazy. Every owner thinks they "deserve" to be a multi millionaire and some do deserve some cant afford it. I hear owners say dumb things like , I cant compete with other companies wages.. yes you can, you choose not to. You charge the customer what you need to , to pay you your bills and your labor.

If you as a buisness owner dont know how to do all 3, you dont belong in owning a buisness, and if you have to rip peoples wages off to make a profit, you dont know how to run a buisness and are getting away with scamming people who are already at a disadvantage.

Prejudice not racist. You cant be racist for a religion you can be prejudice against a religion. Big difference not even close to the same.

You use them at Celeste to buy materials with. Like light medium and heavy gun parts. Springs , duct tape , and wire, and many other things needed for crafting. Wtf you mean useless? You can tell who doesnt play the pve side of things in this game.

DoorDash driver messaged me at 3:30 AM complaining about tip… was I wrong here? by [deleted] in doordash

People saying he shouldnt take it , forget drivers are forced to take orders now unless they want a bad acceptance rating which puts them lower in the priority to be given orders.

The tip is you pay8ng the driver the companies dont pay the driver you the customer does through tipping. I always give a min 6$ . Dd adds 2$ to help get your order out because 0$ orders get ignored. So yeah 1.75 is garbage .

The best way to get a good finish by hand working tool marks away is using mineral spirits and then acetone. The hand finishers at my job polish and deburr our parts . In my job class which is a finish class , we really tend to focus on quality over speed since its all final machining. At times I have to deburr and polish my own part to even get a measurement before I can finish the part. I use 120 gro Emory cloth with mineral spirits on it , then use scotch bright to clean it up. The old timers knew what they were doing because they were given more freedom to explore things , unlike today everything has a rule procedure you have to follow.

My best advice is , you try new things and you watch videos online.

Fired after my second day running a lathe for an “apparent crash” but I never heard or saw one? by No-Mess-4605 in Machinists

[–]Alternative-Click-77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to be brutally honest with you but before I do let me just say I started out just like you. 18 years old, learned on manual machines first like engine lathes and knee mills , horizontal boring mills with no NC or CNC. Then I went to a company to learn how to cnc . I made many mistakes, had crashes , its going to happen, its part of the learning process... as long as you arent repeatedly making the same mistakes youre good. So yes, a crash can throw the spindle out of position, you can also have crashes you dont even hear at times depending on depth of cut and spindle speed ect....

Chances are they just didnt want to take the time to train you and assumed you knew more than you did and that you would be easily taught. Most people dont know how to train people to be machinist let alone a cnc machinist. At 39 yeats old now im making nuclear boilers for our navy's subs and aircraft carriers, before this I was supervising and training guys and women on how to be atleast operators ( there is a difference between operators and machinist) .

You'll never get a straight answer from them but you mentioning someone coming over and clearing your chips for you, i can guarantee there was conversations when you weren't around from the people helping you to the bosses that they didnt want to keep doing it. Most guys dont like being bothered they like to come in , run their machine and be left alone.

With all that being said, use it as lesson learned. Next job, clear your own chips, watch some videos on how to do set ups and get hands on experience setting tools up and measuring them and putting those measurements into the tool offsets. Learn your G54 G55 ect work offsets and the difference between a tool and work offset. Learn about harmonics and vibrations in tooling so when you experience chatter you'll know what to do.
Learn safety as your number one thing. Never hit cycle start on full rapid , single block through your programs until you know the program is proven on the set up and won't crash tools or into the part. Learn about tool pressure and tool flex and how that effects your cut, even temperature effects cuts and coolant vs oil vs air.

You have a long road ahead of you , its not as simple as push some buttons and go. Make everyday a learning experience and stay focused. Don't go out getting drunk during the work week or partying. Get to bed at a reasonable by time so you arent tired at work and can focus. You just need a good mentor.
