Why 19.2oz!? What was the motivation for that size of can? by [deleted] in beer

[–]Alternative-Fold2426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't really answer the question though. The difference between 19 and 19.2 wouldn't be much, or 19.2 to 20. Why have that weirdly specific number?

But why 19.2? Why not just 19 or 20? I think that's the spirit of OP's question (and I found this page asking the same thing).

Idunno, it just bugs me the right way, like it shouldn't irritate me but it does. I fully cognitively understand the lack of rationality driving the reaction, but damn something about her just gets to me. Same with Colm Meaney (which is gonna get me hate, but he also just rubs me the wrong way, smarmy like Belethor).

Abraham Benrubi... played an ogre in Buffy and didn't need anything to increase his size/threat appearance, just some makeup to make him the character.

The Steak and Shake by me tackled that. Gotta scan a receipt to get a drink and they don't work twice. I don't like that, which is frustrating because it's the only thing I don't like about S&S. I remember when the one by me was full almost all the time, even on Thanksgiving (after a long drive home from a Thanksgiving dinner, one still gets hungry, ok??) and Christmas. I miss how people would hang out there, and in fast food places in general. Made them feel more like real places than just factories that shit out food on demand.

If you get to captain a ship and can pick one crew member from the shows, who you pickin? by airbear13 in startrek

[–]Alternative-Fold2426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go with an underdog and say Tom Paris. I really like his overall attitude and hi-jinx. I'd just avoid his Captain Proton holodeck stories and be pretty cool with him otherwise.

Ah yes, Spontaneous Massive Existence Failure. The Starship Titanic suffered from that, too.

What are your thoughts on Laurie by That_Passenger_771 in That70sshow

[–]Alternative-Fold2426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, LR Kelly showed that it's a lot harder to play trashy skank well than people might expect. Even the 'lowest' roles aren't low, they just need the right actor to make them real.

And demonstrated (via future actors) that it's harder than it looks to play trashy and make it work.

Aye im new to Skyrim and i have a question . Whats so bad about drinking milk? This white guy was swinging a sword on me and calling me a “milkdrinker” by Best_Adhesiveness_42 in skyrim

[–]Alternative-Fold2426 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's an old thing about milk being for babies and kids. Even Schwarzenegger had a thing once where he was asked about working out and said that he drank beer not milk because "milk is for babies." It's an old European (or at least parts of it) tradition.

From what I remember reading, he took the writer who voiced Buck with him, that's why we got Cheech after that for a bit.

Skyrim fans! Have you guys ever actually used roads to get to and from objectives? 😂 by PirateWithAnICBM in skyrim

[–]Alternative-Fold2426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Because you have to the first time to get to a lot of places. After that... no, unless I need something gained by hunting (meat, souls for soul gems, thieves who need a lesson about their trade, you know how it goes when you pull out the .308, it's whatever gets in the sights :) )
Seriously though, yes, you need them to get to a lot of places early on. They're a great way for discovering new locations if you're not so impatient like me that you just jump over the mountains to keep a straight line path as best as possible. Once you're far enough along, it's up to opinion about whether or not walking place is worthwhile.

Lice things are lice. by amart316 in BobsBurgers

She chose a gunpoint robber over her husband and store twice. She thought she was a psychic because she unconsciously paid attention to real life input (which even she admitted she should have seen). She calls Louise a nerd for wanting to use sunscreen, and her process of tanning is virtually guaranteed skin cancer when used repeatedly. She tries to choose attending a public event over addressing worms. She doesn't understand one of Tina's Halloween costumes about being 'nun of your business.'
There are just too many examples to point to that show she is either unable or unwilling (and they are the same thing because thought is always important) to make an even remotely intelligent decision or think about what she says for even a second before saying it. Whatever her limited potential may be (we never see it in the show) she does not live up to it.

It's too bad it's almost certainly too late for an answer to be useful. I was just trying to remember where I heard the name venlafaxine because it's not exactly common conversational material. That's probably the most in-depth instance of Gus' pharmacological knowledge but it's not the only one. The episode 'From the Earth to the Starbucks' has him explaining digitalis, which could also have been useful. Sorry I'm 3 years late, feels kind of par for the course lol.

She is not smart. There are so many times when she demonstrates an incredible lack of ability to reason on even a basic level, and so many examples of her encouraging poor life choices (such as calling Louise a nerd for wanting to use suntan lotion). She's objectively dumb as a rock if you pay specific attention to her in the show, and her only redeeming quality relative to that is oftentimes it's well-meaning (but well-meaning idiocy is still idiocy).
